Saving Emily (QUEST)

my body was completely unresponsive. It even seemed to glow brighter. My bow reformed into it's wristband sheath, back on my wrist. I could now hear what was going on around me.

Nothing happened. I heard Katie, but I couldn't respond. My body was almost too bright to look at now. The E.S.S showed no signs of slowing down my healing, but it wasn't working. I was screaming at her in my head "I need a biological recepticle for this regenerative energy, or I'll die!" I knew she could'nt hear me.

I tried using some healing power, dangerous for my current condition. "Seth please wake up." I begged finally cutting off my energy.

I couldn't think after everything I had heard Katie say, so I acted as if I hadn't heard anything for a moment to slow down my thinking. I hold Katie's hand and try to talk some sense into her. "Katie. Sit down. I'll do it. Sit and breathe and don't talk,"" I order. My hands go straight to his chest, and I close my eyes, ordering all of my meager healing powers to help him in some way. I could feel that a bit of color return to his cheeks, but it wasn't good enough to save him. I kept working and praying to Apollo to help us all.

After about five minutes of the most intense healing I had ever done, Seth was just a little bit more colorful. I was sweating, and as my eyes opened, I could see Katie's head almost to the floor. There was little more that I could do for Seth,0 but I had to recharge a little first. Talking to Katie would be a good thing to do. I first put my hand on her knee and try to comfort her. "Seth will be okay if the gods will it so," I tell her in an attempting-to-brighten-her mood kind of voice. "There's not much the two of us can do at the moment, but one I have more power, I can try again. Everything'll be okay, girl. I promise."

I try to think of something to keep her mind off of the idea of Seth d- I couldn't even say the word. I guess now was the time to address the thing we were both hoping to avoid. "While I regain some energy, would you care to begin explaining..." I look down at her stomach, indicating to her twins and their origin. "I won't say a word or make any judgements at all if you don't want me to. I love you both, and I just need to understand if we're gonna do this quest together.""

When she asks my opinion, I simply hug her tightly. "You're the strongest person I know, Katie. If it was your decision from the beginning, I really respect you for that. You knew what you wanted, and you kept your cool this entire time. Although I will never understand why, I'm glad for you. And Seth." I unlatch myself and try to get back to work on Seth. My eyes closed again, and I summoned every ounce of energy I had to turn into healing for my brother.

"No I didnt know and I don't know now." I said standing up not making eye contact. "I'll go see if the car will start." I couldn't bear to be around Seth right now.

After a while, the color seemed to flush back into my face. I was still weak, but my eyes fluttered open. I smiled when I saw Alexia, still trying to heal me. "Hey, sis." I said weakly. I still couldn't move well, but it didn't stop me from trying. I tryed to sit up

In a moment of shock, tears the size or baseballs well up in my tear ducts, and not caring, a few escape. "Seth! I thought you were in Hades for sure!" I hoped that he didn't hear our conversation and we could all act like I knew nothing, but I had a feeling he subconsciously knew. Somehow. I hug him anyway and lean him up against the bed in an attempt to let him in on what's going on. "Don't you ever scare us like that again, okay? You listen to me next time."

i hugged her back. My body was still weak, but getting stronger. "I almost was in Hades' realm. You didn't say anything, Lex." I leaned on my sister for support, thankful to still be living. "How's Katie doing?" My eyes darted around the room, but I didn't see her

I help him up and let him lean on me for support as I grab our few possessions and walk toward the door. "she'll be better once she sees that you're okay. she was worried sick, but healthy. Everyone's fine," I answer quickly as I close the door behind us and head out to the car. "The quicker we get out, the faster we get away from whoever is trying to kill us. I can continue to heal you in the car, too." I figured that it was Katie's turn to drive for a little bit, but I would offer after that. She and Seth would both need to get some rest soon.

I groaned, the pain all over my body rapidly swelling. "No light...no more sunlight.." My eyes fluttered again. "So cold...". my body returned to it's limp state. I could still barely hear what was going on around me, though comprehending anything would prove next-to impossible. The last thing I remember was seeing Katie in the car. I blacked out

When Seth passed out while I was helping him, I was just done. This quest was more trouble than it was worth. Thank the gods we were only about ten feet from the car, though. I load him next to me in the backseat and get him all situated as quickly as I can. "Katie, he just said that he was 'so cold,' and then blacked out." I was nervous, no- terrified, for him now. He didn't get any sleep at all except in the car, and now he wasn't going to sleep restfully, I could assume. "Maybe get us to the interstate, and I can take over from there, please," I ask Katie.

I nodded pulling out into the street. "Somethings wrong with me.." I trailed off "I think I'm going crazy." I tapped the steering wheel, "I'm hearing voices..."

My voice shook when Katie said she was losing it. "It's okay Katie. It's just me. Nobody else. You're a demigod, so that might be n-normal..." I put my hand on Seth's chest in hopes of reviving him, but I was too unfocused to do anything too productive. "Once we get to the highway, everything'll be fine. I can drive, and you two can sleep. Everything'll be okay..."

I could very faintly feel Alexia's hand on my chest. I managed to move mine to hold her hand there. Sadly, I could only muster that much, nothing else I tried to do would happen. Something had affected me in a way that I had never felt before. Only seen once at camp.

I smile and agree, telling her to keep going, thanking her for her endurance and reliability. When Seth weakly grabbed my hand, I became determined to use every ounce of energy I had to make him completely better. "Everything's gonna be okay, Seth. Everything's gonna work out..." I figured this was a lie, but we all needed some encouragement. I kept healing him until a small light went through my hands and into him- a sign of Apollo. He was helping a little bit too.
