| Using a move few were capable of replicating, Malcolm deftly caught and twisted the kusarigami's chain around the shaft of his spear, all the while managing to keep his shield in a safe spot. After blocking a flurry of strikes from Leo's flailing sword, Malcolm gave a hard tug on the shaft of his spear, pulling Leo off balance. He then darted forward with the chain still wrapped around his spear, dishing out a quick jab before retreating. "You ain't the only one with a few moves, chap," Malcolm said.

| I pull on the chain as he wraps it around his spear, pulling the spear from his hand, much as I had planned. He was strong but this was an exotic weapon meant to confuse and capture weapons. It was fulfilling it's purpose. We were fairly evenly matched in strength and the construction meant that I had better leverage. Then I flourish my snake-sword. Sending it above his head and at twisting to strike his newly exposed side. | |

| In a flash, Malcolm produced a chess king from his pocket and allowed it to turn into a 2.5 foot short sword. He brought it up in a split second to guard his exposed side, deflecting Leo's incoming snake-blade. "Blimey. This is getting really interesting," Malcolm remarked, shaking a loose lock of blond hair from his face.

| OOC: Your previous post was powerplaying so I ignored some of it. I read all of it though. As I send the spear shooting past me the kusarigama disappears from my hand. In it's place is a hand crossbow. I send several bolts shooting towards his feet as my snake sword spins at head level. It was celestial bronze though, so it would not hurt him even if it made it through his defenses. | |

| You know what...forget this. No offense to you personally dyingbreath, but Leo's one-man army thing is really bugging me-it's like he's a frickin' god that can whip nearly anything out of thin air. Seriously man? That should be called godmodding, and it takes the fun right out of a good sparring match, not to mention character interaction in general. I'm sorry if this upsets you, but I had to say it. I can't run with this, and I can't hold my two cents in any longer. | |

| OOC: because he can conjure weapons? no one else complains. You are just a sore loser. | |

| OOC: Get one thing straight-it's not because my character could lose, or the fact that Leo can just conjure weapons. It's the sheer number of weapons he can conjure, anything from an Uzi to exotic blades that can't even be found on Wikipedia. Does this guy have the potential to lose a fight against a character that is not a Big Three child or a Hephaestus guy with fire powers? Godmods-not fun to RP with. | |

| OOC: yes. If that character is good at fighting and doesn't give up. He has a bag full of weapons. He cant conjure anyone that you can name though. He does enjoy exotic weapons because they are interesting and surprising to your enemy and that is why he pull out exotic weapons not because he has every type of weapon in that bag. | |

| OOC: Eh...fine. I was reading something else frustrating and that kinda carried over. But if you put it that way, let's move on. Sorry about that.

| At the last second, Malcolm crouched low with his shield covering his feet, dodging Leo's snake-sword and blocking his arrows in one move. He then got back up again, spinning his own sword. Leo was a skilled fighter, and his exotic weapons were deadly and rare, but there was one knock on his fighting style-it consumed more energy than Malcolm's defensive form. Just play D. Keep your shield up and your eyes open, use the minimum amount of energy required to fend off his attacks. That way, he'll tire. | |

| Surrepticiously I had been getting closer. When he croached I snapped my snake-sword back into one piece and lunged. I deliver a kick to his shield pushing it downward towards the ground. From his position he couldn't see until it was too late. | |

| OOC: Yeah, that's kind of a powerplay.

| OOC:I am not saying the attack succeeds. Merely that I am doing it and of the ways that make it more likely to succeed. | |

| OOC: "From his position he couldn't see until it was too late." That implies you are putting my character in a vulnerable spot and there's a very slim chance of him countering. I would have been fine with just the shield kick, but the sentence that follows tilts everything in your favour. | |

| ]OOC: but I also set it up so that you had the oppurtunity to tell from other methods. Your action set it up in my favor by restricting your own vision. You could simply hear the snake sword retract though and be warned by that in example. | |

| OOC: I got it.
The snap of Leo's snake sword warned Malcolm that something was coming. So instead of trying to recover his shield for the moment, Malcolm swung his blade in an upward arc, intercepting the strike from Leo's weapon. "Impressive," Malcolm remarked. "You are no rookie, eh?" By now, the two combatants were in a bladelock. Instead of trying to hold it, Malcolm angled his sword so Leo's slid off it. The pressure Leo was applying helped send him off balance momentarily-long enough for Malcolm to back off and get some breathing room. | |

| I mostly ignored the fight. Occasionally something would catch my attention and I'd comment in an indifferent way. I also notice a newcomer practicing archery. "Well the arenas starting to fill up isn't it," I say to who ever's listening. | |

| "Yeah," I said, still sitting on the bench. I watched the fight intentively, learning of moves I haven't even seen before. I returned my attention to Jimi. "I think I've seen you around the Aphrodite cabin. Are you by chance a child of her?" | |

| "Is your shield special or irreperable?" I ask him. I would never try and risk damage to someones prized possesions in a skirmish. So it was worth asking. | |

| I look at Jennifer. "Yes I am actually. I'm the one who's typically painting shirts or something of the like," I tell her. My attention returns to the fight. Perhaps Leo was more respectful than I first thought. Or there was at least an extent to his disrespect. Either way it was better than my original opinion of him. | |

| "I'm not sure about irreparable. It's never been damaged very badly," Malcolm said. "All the same though, it'd be nice if it survived this match. If I ever have to take this shield to the forge for repairs and the Hephaestus blokes ask me how it was mangled, I don't fancy telling 'em sparring match, eh?" | |

| "I can do survived but what about damaged? If you don't want to confront the hephaestus kids I could always fix it for you," I offer, "I'm quite handy around a forge." | |

| "Damaged? Now you've got me wondering what other tricks you have in your bag," Malcolm remarked. "All I'm saying, is it's less than ideal for weapons to get damaged during sparring. On the other hand, not like I have any sort of real attachment to this shield. Go ahead and make your move-but if you break it I'll expect a fix." | |

| "On my honour." I say. My weapons disappear back to my bag. In their place I now wield a warhammer. "with this surprise is impossible anyway so I don't care to try and build one." | |
