| "JFK was shot in a public area, so technically..." Malcolm returned. "But I take your point, and I'll wager this is actually a sparring match. Mind if I test your mettle?" | |

| I looked back at Leo calmly. "You're not my opponent. Opponents show each other respect before and after they fight. The way you treat people it's seems like we're all your enemies," I told him before I turned back to the dummies. "And if it will really make you feel better go ahead and shoot," I challenge with out facing him. | |

| "I respect people who deserve respect," I say to him, "you showed me nothing that would show that you deserved any. And sure, I'll fight you." I say to the newcomer. | |

| "Hey now," Malcolm said. "Let's keep things cordial, shall we? No need for a grudge to come out of this, eh?" As he spoke, he set down the shotgun slung over his shoulder and produced two things from his pockets-a bronze chess knight and a bronze rook. In seconds they expanded into weapons-the knight a spear and the rook a shield. | |

| " I really don't understand why you guys get so aggressive, it's just practice" I say looking up from my magazine. I grab my phone and start to text absentmindedly. | |

| "Pity," I say, "the shotgun might have made things more interesting." A kusarigami appears suddenly in my hand. I wind up the weighted ball at the end of the chain in preperation. | |

| "I showed you respect. You acted arrogant and wouldn't take me seriously," I say from my position several yards away. "Besides you seem to angry to be a formidable threat," I add. "I'm not being aggressive. I've never been calmer," I tell the new comers in a level voice. "I'm Jimi by the way," I say introducing myself,"son of Aphrodite." | |

| Malcolm scoffed. "Well now, look who's confident. That kind of attitude can save you and get you killed. By the way, could I know the name of my opponent?" He briefly turned to Jimi. "Malcolm Reed, son of Athena."
OOC: What the heck is a kusarigami? Can't even find it on Wikipedia.

| " I'm Kristen Bell, daughter of Aphrodite " I say to Jimi. I turn my attention back to my magazine, I grab a notebook and pen from my bag. I start to write down what styles are in and out for the month. | |

| "Oh I remember you," I say to Kristen. "How have you been?" I ask her, trying to start a conversation. If I couldn't talk to my siblings who could I talk to. | |

| " I've been good, how have you been ? " I ask, closing my magazine and putting it in my bag. I start to doodle on the pad of paper quietly.

| "Still painting all my shirts. Still calm as a still pond," I tell her smiling as I sit next to her. "I wish I brought my paints with me," I comment. I close my eyes and lean back. "What are you drawing?" | |

| " I'm just doodling, it's really all random, there's not really a set theme " I say, trying not to look embarrassed. I quickly put the paper and pencil in my bag, hoping I don't seem rude.

| "There shouldn't be a theme until the picture tells you what it wants to be," I comment before I can stop myself. "Sorry not my place to advise. Art should simply be relaxing and fun," I say more calmly as I breath deeper. | |

| OOC: a kusarigami is a fairly unique weapon. It is basically a sickle with a long chain at the end. At the end of the chain is a weight. It is very good for taking down armoured opponents. "Confidence is nothing but a facade," I say, "it's transparency differs from person to person. Some appear overconfident but they have skill to back it up. Some people appear overconfident with little or no skill at all. My confidence only comes from what I know I can do. I never let confidence get the better of me. And I'm Leo, by the way." | |

| I walk into the arena determined too practice my archery. I hadn't been here long and I was only 13 so my fighting skills needed to be improved. I picked up one camp bows and tested it out. Luckily it was the right size. Sometimes I had to spend ages rifling through all the bows. I picked up a quiver of arrows and went over to an empty target. I began to shoot my arrows. Soon they were all somewhere on the target. I was no daughter of Apollo so only 3 were in the middle. I wasn't surprised though. Demeter's kids weren't very aggressive, so we didn't fight as well as the other kids. | |

| "Malcolm Reed, son of Athena," Malcolm replied. "And I hope for your sake you know what you're talking about. But enough of that. Your move." Malcolm's fighting style was defensive and analytical-he never made the first move and never committed himself to open aggression before getting a feel for his opponent's abilities. Leo's weapon was exotic, something he had read about but never seen, and thus Malcolm was especially cautious. He kept his spear ready and his shield in a good spot.
OOC: So, a kusarigami has a sickle blade at one end and something like a flail on the other?

| When I get the weight spinning I conjure a sword in my weapon hand and grin at him. "No no no," I say, "you first. I insist." | |

| Malcolm chuckled. "Would you really like to try and wait me out? Rest assured, you will fail." He left it at that, standing in a combat stance with his shield protecting himself. In a real combat situation, he'd have to make some kind of move soon, but in a sparring match he could afford to wait. And very few people could beat Malcolm at waiting. He was incredibly patient when necessary and almost never got upset or riled up. Thus, he decided to stick with his usual M.O.
OOC: Dude what is up with Leo's infinite arsenal? No offense, but it's starting to bother me how he can whip seemingly any weapon out of somewhere.

| OOC: He has a magic gloves. He can use them to conjure weapons out of his bag of tricks which is full of them. He can trade them instantly. He doesn't have unlimited ammo and his weapons can be broken (exception of Invictus). It is his fighting style though. "I invite you to try. I will not wait you out I will simply start assuring my victory one second at a time." I say to him, "in the time that you are waiting I will be preparing." | |

| "Who are you to say I won't be preparing as well?" Malcolm responded reasonably. Though he was starting to find why Jimi didn't like Leo's attitude, it didn't bother him. Malcolm never exchanged trash talk or let an opponent's words get to him. He simply took a breath and readied himself for the fight. The spear gives me a reach advantage but a disadvantage in agility. When we get going, I'll need to keep him at a distance and wear him down with long, persistent jabs. And let's not forget defense either. | |

| With a smile I swing my sword. I was still 20 feet away at least. However as I swing the sword disconnects, falling apart into seperate sections still linked together. I swing it fast and hard taking advantage of his surprise. | |

| Malcolm moved fast as well, expertly using his shield to deflect Leo's unique blade. "Oy! Not bad, Leo. Not bad at all, lad." So much for reach advantage. I'm going to have to really watch myself in this one. Perhaps switching to a sword is a smarter idea, because that blade reaches longer and hits faster than a spear ever could. | |

| While he is distracted with the blade I flick my wrist sending the weight of my kusarigami spiriling towards him. It was a bad toss it seemed because I barely missed him, the weight traveling past him on his left side. Meanwhile I pirouette my blade sending it into a spin which clatters noisily against his shield several times. | |
