Monster Hunter's first Adventure[Private to Monster Hunters]

I sat at the hill looking around to see if the team was here. So far no one.

I trudged up the hill with my duffle bags in my hands, and my backpack slung over my shoulder. This was the first time in a while that I've ever been outside of camp, so I was cautious of what we may encounter. Although, I've been training everyday since I first came, so I wasn't really nervous. Once I reached the top of Half-Blood Hill, I glanced around to only find Leo. "I guess I'm the first one here," I said.

I walked from my cabin, my pick axe and crowbar, along with an assortment of other tools, were in my duffel bag. I also carried a backpack some food, water and other supplies in it. Before I reached the top of the hill I looked back at camp one more time. "Won't see this again for awhile," I tell myself as I reached the top. I gave Leo a lazy salute and waved at Anna. "Guess I'm not late," I say as I notice the other two aren't here yet.

"Right on time! Hope your all ready and since were gonna have to wait for Brandon and Shimoko I'll be right back" I say walking away. Heading for the Apollo cabin to find Alex.

Brandon jogged to the top of Half-Blood Hill. He wore pieces of bronze armour as well as a Kevlar vest under his camouflage jacket and trousers, and the armour made him seem even more muscular than he really was. The previous night, Brandon had smartly purchased a magicked backpack from the camp store in which to put his AR-15 assault rifle, Desert Eagle, Colt Anaconda and spare magazines. The only thing in view on Brandon's person was an aerosol can than seemed innocent-but in reality it turned into his two-handed, double-bladed war axe.
"Hooah," he said to the others. "We ready to wrangle some steers?"

I nodded. "Ready as ever," I said, as I fiddled with my silver capsule located inside my pocket. "How about everyone else?" I asked, browsing the group. I began to wonder what type of monsters we would encounter, and if any of us would die or not. I pushed the thought aside, and returned my attention to the group.

Brandon scanned the group. They were a diverse group-he'd never look at 'em and think It's the Monster Hunters! But more important to him was what they were capable of. If Brandon knew that beforehand, his military mind could be working on combat tactics on the way to Jersey.
"Hey guys, what weapons are you packing and what can you do?" Brandon asked.

I turned to Brandon. "Well, the only weapon I have is an imperial gold wand, and that's what helps me wield my magic. Anna Jones, daughter of Hecate, by the way." I already knew what his name was. I knew almost everyone at camp, but that's only because I train with half of them.

I looked at Brandon. "Pick axe, crow bar, this," I said lighting a fire on the end of my finger," and whatever I can make on the way. What did you bring?" I ask him. "Other than the air can," I say noticing the can on his belt. It probably turned into something else, but I'd let him confirm it.

"That air can," Brandon said, "turns into my battle axe. I also have an AR-15 assault rifle-thirty-round mags, fully automatic. Then there's my Desert Eagle pistol and my Colt Anaconda six gun-big bullets for both. At close range those slugs will punch through the hide of any monster short of a drakon. So it's safe to say I'm well-armed."

I give him an impressed look. "Only gun I brought was a nail gun. That might help but not as much as a Deagle," I say. I'd have to see if I couldn't get my hands on a real gun along the way. Although I was much better with what I had and I was already a human flamethrower.

"Katana, naginata, kanabo, wakizashi, tonto," I say appearing at the hill quite suddenly. "my martial arts and swordsmanship abilities are considerable though they still pale in comparison to my senseis." I was nothing if not humble and respectful. "I have a bow but I do not use it much. Ranged warfare is cowardly."

"And effective," Brandon retorted. "You can either win a fight by cutting down minotaurs with machine guns or lose one by trying to engage them in CQB and having your head crushed. Besides, if you actually think it'd be a walk in the park to charge through a hail of bullets..." He took a breath. "Look, what I'm trying to say is, don't let your code get in the way of combat. You like swords, fine, but there will come a time when a situation calls for plenty of cover fire and plenty of shooting. Then we'll be counting on you and your bow. And I trust you won't be calling me a coward because of my weapons of choice?"

"Anything to preform your duty to your utmost," I say, "that is the code of a samurai. Duty and honour are our watchwords. I will do my duty and I will not call you a coward for doing yours."

I stood there silent. I was worried about these two, I wondered if they'd be like this all the time. And that really wouldn't be much of a help when we would encounter monsters. "So, uh, how about you Leo?" I said, turning to him.

I watched as the other two arrived and stayed silent. "Hey Leo, before I forget, how exactly are we gonna be getting around?" I asked. Mostly because I didn't want to be around Brandon and Shimoko if they were gonna start some rivalry. That kinda thing got annoying sometimes.

I returned from the Apollo cabin and panted, "Sorry you guys I had some business to take care of." So um about getting there I have a special some one who can help. "Cover your ears" I say as I created most likely the loudest whistle. A tiny purple dragon the size of a normal sized backpack swooped and and lick my face. I laughed saying, "Were riding him".

I stared at the dragon blankly. Over the past few years I've been at camp, I've seen enough suprised, so I didn't underestimate the dragon. "Okay," I said. That might've sounded a little weird, because the others might have something else on their mind.

Brandon looked the dragon over. He raised his eyebrow for a moment, and then shrugged.
"Whatever. You take care of that then, Leo. By the way, what are you armed with?"

"Your probably thinking hes way to small for a person to ride it well show them what you got Chibi" I said. Chibi nodded and stretched. He got bigger and bigger and bigger and now he was the size of house. "Hope on Were going to new Jersey. Oh I'm just armed with my sword that transforms into any weapon on my mind and my ability to control water," I said getting onto the dragon.

Brandon climbed onto Chibi's back next. He was already thinking about combat tactics that the group could employ.
Well Shimoko's gonna be a CQB specialist, that's for sure. Leo and Steven seem well-rounded for several types of scenarios. Anna should probably be staying away from the melee and using her magic to support the rest of us from a good vantage point.

I followed Leo and Brandon onto Chibi's back. I recited a few spells I've learned in my head. I was confident about this whole thing, but a bit nervous. I haven't been off campus in a long time.
