"Oh, uh, no it's cool," I say, trying to wave off my embarrassment, "I'm just not that used to having pretty girls so close to my face is all." I look at my toes, trying not to embarrass myself.

"Hunh? Oh, I mean, you're really pretty, and you were really close to my face... which is kinda like. You know, you're about to kiss me," I say bluntly while digging my foot into the sand, "But don't worry about it or anything, hahaha, I doubt anything like that would happen, I mean we just met and all..."

"You gotta be confident about your looks mate. I mean you're pretty for sure," I give her a big grin. I feel a bit hypocritical as I say thing, thinking about the strange colour of my eyes and shape of my pupils and about how short I am. I begin to feel small and uncomfortable, yet still, I maintain the bright smile on my face as I look at the girl in front of me with false confidence.

"The mind is a private thing... I'd rather not have my teachers know I didn't do my homework, or if people found out I didn't like them, or maybe if I liked them more than they though... You know, feeling stuff! I just don't want people to know," I ramble on, glad to be changing the topic.

I smile at Sarah sheepishly, "Well... you wouldn't want people to know what you thought and felt about them would you?" After a moment of thoughtful pause, I let out a loud laugh "Hahaha, I hear the mind is a terrible thing to read. I'd probably hate being psychokinetic."

"Oh... so you really CAN read minds." I say, kinda regretting the stuff I said earlier, "I didn't mean to insult mind reading or nothing, it's just like, it's gotta be tough... knowing what everyone thinks of you and all."
I find a pebble on the ground and fiddle with it a bit, "Not that anyone would ever think anything bad about you or anything. You're nice and pretty, even if you are kinda quiet."
