I clutched my smoke bomb.Then I tossed it down.With smoke everywhere,I couldn't see her,she couldn't see me.And in this case,that was a good thing.

I strapped on the shield my mother had given me. It was clear, so this should be easy. Looking into the shield, I saw a small glimps of Medusa. She was scanning the fog of smoke, trying to detect us. The snakes that replaced her hair gave out a loud hiss. "Melina, Kai, where are you?" she asked in a sweet cheerleader type of voice. "Come out where ever you are."

I wasn't entirely freaking out. I defeated her with my two half-siblings, Raymond and Crystal before. I knew how to beat her now. I just had to get behind her where she didn't notice me, and slaughter her.

My mind was blank.My battle instincts had kicked in.Hey look,a bird!No,pay attention!Great,now I'm talking to myself when I should be fighting.

The fog from Kai's smoke bomb made it easy for me to move in on her, but she was struggling. I advanced in on her slowly and undetected, keeping my footwork even. I was about two inches away from her when the fog began to dim and fade away. Crap, I thought. She quickly turned around to face me, her snake-hair hissing simultaneously. I shut my eyes fast enough to avoid her gaze. I'd much rather stay human than be a garden statue.

"Hello," she greeted in a sweet cheerleader voice. "KAI!" I screamed.

I came to my senses.I jumped on the back of Medusa,my eyes closed.I just hacked,and made contact with something.But my (old) cast arm was hurting.I hadn't used it in so long.

Kai's sword made contact with one of the green snakes on Medusa's head, easily chopping it off. "You little brat!" she cried, throwing him off her back. My eyes remained closed, but I could sense what she was doing. I turned around, my face away from hers', and looked into the shield. The picture was horrible. Medusa was the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life. The snakes on her hair hissed once more, and I cleaved at her middle, ripping a small part of her clothing into two pieces.

"Argh!" she roared in agony. My eyes were still focused on the shield. Now what? I asked myself.

I still had my eyes closed.Then I hit something.Hard.Really,Really hard.

As I looked into the shield, I saw Medusa charge after me. I lifted up my sword and hacked. This time I missed, which led Medusa to throw me into one of the walls. After that, I felt incredibly drowsy. My eyesight was becoming blurry.

I heard another smash.With my eyes shut tight,I summoned some more dead minions.Then I thought a moment.I could try summoning one of those supernatural rocks,but they might not make it through the floor.

I stood up groggily, then quickly fell back down on my hands and knees. My hyperventilating was loud and heavy. I felt like my lungs were being crushed. Kai and I took down the minotuar before, why was it so hard to fight Medusa? Well, one thing is for sure is that we can't look her in the eyes, or we'll turn to stone, but that's all I really know of. Why was it so challenging?

"So... tired..." I said.Then I slowly went for my sheathe.I felt for the familar hilt.Where was it?"My sword!" I said.It was gone!

I felt myself wince involuntary a few times, struggling to lift myself up from the ground. Once I was up, and stood in a Greek battle stance, my shield raised so I could see Medusa clearly. I wanted to help Kai, but I knew defeating Medusa was the only way I could. He was weapon-less, after all.

I advanced forward, Medusa readied herself to attack. It was challenging to look into a shield rather than infront of you, especially when you're fighting something you can't see. Once I was only a few inches away from her, I hacked at her right arm, but she easily pulled away. When that failed, I thrusted, and my sword went right through her, but she didn't disinegrate. What the heck? I thought. Oh, that's right! I have to slice her head off! That's the only way she can be beaten! She chuckled loudly at my failure. "Stupid demigod."

Slapping Medusa out of the way, I rushed over to Kai, my eyes still hidden from her gaze. "Where did you leave it?" I asked, my hand over his. I wasn't going to let him die, especially since this was my fault. I dragged us into this, and therefore, I'll get us out.

"It should be here!" I said."I haven't used it since we fought the Minotaur!" Where was it?! I flipped out without my sword.

I began to start rambling random words nervously. "Well, do you have anything else?" I asked. Medusa was approaching, and Kai would be vulnerable weapon-less. I stood infront of him in a battle position, waiting for her to attack.

"This might work!" I said.I had reached my bag and found my supply of throwing knives.I tossed one toward where I guessed Medusa was.

"Wait," I interupted his assult, placing my hand on his. "Focus on her movements," I wispered. "If you can hear her, you can attack her." Medusa rushed forward, and I deflected her attack. Clang. I pushed he torward Kai, that way he would be able to use his throwing knives. She attacked once more, and I countered with a slash.

I listened to her.Then I tossed where I heard movement.It sounded like I mit Medusa.I wasn't sure,though.

Looking into the shield, I noticed Medusa thrown off course as one of Kai's daggers nailed her in the middle. She groaned in pain, but easily ripped it off. The only way to defeat her was by slicing off her head, and I intended to do just that.

I was aching to be able to fight.With my eyes closed,I couldn't fight well.All my attacks focused on pinpoint accuracy.Without being able to see,I couldn't do a thing.

As I continued to battle Medusa, I was somehow trying to comunicate with Kai and tell him to use one of his throwing knives to see her reflection. Come on, Kai, you can do it! I know you can. Medusa parried with one of Kai's knives, and I countered. Gods, why can't they just stay still?

Come on, Kai. Come on. I urged him to listen, but was unsure if he was able to. Medusa hacked at me, I deflected it, and then slashed. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to defeat Medusa on my own, I needed Kai. After all, the last time fought Medusa was with two of my half-siblings, Crystal and Raymond.

I finally did listen.That was a perfect idea!I held out my knife and checked the reflection,this time hitting Medusa for sure.My knives really only could slow her down,though.
