My father looked away and attended to his usual morning duties. I noticed Kai flash his eyes open and then closed. Placing my hand on his back, I asked: "Kai, are you alright?" I studied him carefully. I knew shadow traveling would do this to him again, but I'm sure my father would become worried if we exited the underworld the long way.

"It's my fault.Twice in a row.It makes it hard." I told her.

I nodded. "Well do you think there are any monsters coming at this moment?" I asked. I studied the table absently. When my eyes fell on my step-mom, I glared at her, then returned my attention to Kai.

I shook my head.But I had my sword with me just in case.Plus some other weapons.But I never really used them.

After that, my father was finished preparing our breakfast. He laid everything out infront of us. Like I said, I was okay with being rich. I didn't realize how hungry I was. Being in the underworld must have made me famished. I wanted to gobble it all down, but I remembered my manners. My dad always told me to be well behaved and polite, and I did just that.

A few minutes later, the doorbell rang. My father got up from his seat and answered it. Being in the kitchen, and away from the doorway, I couldn't tell who it was. Then, I recongnized the voice. I couldn't make out where I heard it from, but that voice sounded familier. It was masculine, and kind of deeper than I remembered. Must of hit puberty already.

"Is this it?" my father questioned. "Yes, that's it, sir." the voice replied. "Alright, Matthew, tell your mother thank you. Oh, and Melina is back. I'm sure she'd like to see you again." I felt my face flush bright red. No, it couldn't be. It was him.

I ate nothing. I leaned over toward Melina."Who's that?" I whispered.

"Oh, it's- it's- it's nobody," I studdered. I was afraid of letting Kai know who he really was. I didn't want to makehim jealous or anything. He already got him by a car, why damage him emotionaly?

My dad lead Matthew into the kitchen. Oh, great... I thought. This wasn't going to be easy. I didn't know which would've been harder. Fighting the minotuar, or protecting your boyfriend. "Uh, hi, Matt."

I turned toward the guy."Hi." I said to him."I'm Kai.You are?" I said.I had Noah's knife bracelets on in case he was hostile.I doubted it,but,in the real world,you never knew.

"Hello, Kai," he responded. "I'm Matthew Halkias, I used to attend Melina's school before she left." He turned to me and smiled his dazzling smile. Before I left, he was one of the most popular boys at school. I was sort of popular myself, but never really payed attention to that stuff. "Hi, Matt..."

I just nodded.So he knew Melina,huh?Something told me this was about gonna get weird.I purposely held my knife where he could see it,but made it seem like it just happened.

"Please, sit down, Matthew!" my father exclaimed, pulling up a chair in between me and Kai. Matthew sat down and fixed his gaze on me. I turned away, my face began to feel hot. It was only three seconds later that I noticed I was blushing.

I rolled my eyes.I was obviously annoyed.Seriously?It ticked me off a bit.

Turning my head away completly, I closed my eyes as tight as I could. Oh, Kai, please help me, I thought. Matthew would always do this when we attended school together. This was going to be just like old times.

I didn't know what to do.I really didn't like this kid.Already.Then again,I didn't like most people til they were dead.

Seeing as Kai did nothing, I redirected my attention to Matthew. I'll admit it, I did like him when we went to school together, and he was actually almost my first kiss. Almost. But not that I have Kai, I don't really have any feelings for him anymore. "Well, uh, Matt, what are you doing here?" I asked. He smiled wider. "I was just dropping off a few things for your dad. What have you been doing?" "Uh... Nothing really," I stammered.

I looked at Kai and noticed him roll his eyes. I gave him a look as if saying help. I never really wanted to talk to Matthew again once I met Kai. Kai was different, and not some stuck up jock.

Forgetting that Matt was there, I nodded no to Kai. "What's wrong, gorgeous?" Matt asked. I turned away, avoiding his gaze. "Uh, nothing. Nothing at all."

I looked disappointed.Then I heard what the kid said.She was my girlfriend!And this wasn't like the other guy.He obviosuly was flirting with her.Kinda.I don't know.I just wanted to take out my rage on something.

Realizing that Matt wasn't getting the hint, I decided to reason with him. "Matt... Listen, it would never work out. I have a boyfriend now, too." I said. Matt balled his fist. "Who...?" he asked. "The guy behind you. Kai."

I shot Kai a look. Half smirking, my expression said: "What? No kiss?" It was obvious I was joking, but whatever. Then I looked back at Matt. I felt a little sympathetic, but I had Kai now. It wouldn't be fair to him.

I laughed.Then I fiddled with my knives a little.Maybe I could get Noah to make them better.That would be cool.

"What are you laughing about?" Matthew retorted. He cuffed both of his fists. He was ready to punch Kai in the face. Why was it always like this for me? Why couldn't I just be normal?
