| There had never been a time when Bane hadn’t wanted to destroy the happy lives of demigods. Killing children had been programmed into his brain since the moment he was born, and it was quite literally instinctual to kill a camper on sight. Of course, Bane had been trained not to maul the followers of his master Kronos, and that had been a gruelling process of whips and starvation, and Bane had finally learned to keep his muzzle glued shut whenever someone walked by him in the camp. He had never really been an obedient pup, but he decided that anything was better than sitting in a dark and dank dungeon with barely any raw meat to keep him from dying. Even now that he was out of the cage of doom, Bane still wanted to destroy every living thing in his path, and that included the followers of the titans. It was strange that he could remember this stuff, considering that five years ago he couldn’t even recall what his real name was. Bane was the name that had been given to him by a dark haired camper with a stump leg when he’d first arrived snarling in the cage he’d been captured in. Hellhounds were not meant to be kept as pets, and the boy had to have known that, but he still formed an attachment with Bane nonetheless. Their relationship was quite one-sided, Bane only acted like he cared so that he got extra rations of meat, and eventually when the special treatment stopped, he ate the boy. The moral of the story? Don’t mess with a raging hungry hellhound because you could die.
As it turned out, Bane was hungry now. His stomach echoed pitiful howls of malnutrition, and the hellhound figured that he needed to get something good to eat. After all, the demigods that were in charge of him had done something that he could never dream of doing: breaking into the other camp. Everyone was happy and eating things Bane had only seen once or twice, so it had to have been good. The only logical thing for Bane to do was to celebrate alone and away from everything, maybe get a good mountain lion and just gnaw on it all night long. Perhaps if he was lucky, there would not be any injections tonight. Bane shivered not because of the cold, but because of the memories that had resurfaced. He remembered various campers giving him shots to improve his memory, focus, and stamina. His muscles twitched afterwards, and he often convulsed for a number of hours before going numb against the world. After a couple of months, Bane realised that he had purple barbs intertwined with his jet black fur. They were poisonous.
During his race down the forest hill, Bane caught sight of a car zooming down a road. Putting two and two together in his small mind, the hellhound realised that the contraption had humans inside it. Humans were certainly a treat, one that Bane certainly deserved. So he hid in the bushes when it stopped, and he watched as the girl turned from annoyed at the boy to agitated, every so often glancing at the bush in which Bane was in. Soon the boy, the driver, got out and opened the car door. Bane restituted himself so as to get a better look at where he could attack from, but stepped on a branch. This proved to be fatal, because both demigods looked over to where he was. Bane then decided to jump out of the bushes. With a snarl that sent the ground vibrating, he tackled the boy and started to claw at his face. CARTHAGO DELENDA EST

| Faye McJean | She felt those eyes again. They seemed to have burrowed into her skull and planted a seed that had grown into paranoia. Faye tried to avoid looking outside, telling herself it was her imagination, but her gut argued. The war between logic and instinct was always playing out in her thoughts, debating which side was worth fighting for. It normally ended in headaches. Exhaling, the demigod pressed her fingers to her temples, as if she could massage away the battles. She focused on a useless memory, one of her several days spent on the beach, and inhaled, then exhaled. Slowly the war died down as a battle came to a close. Her imagination was just overreacting, she had concluded. The sunlight was bright outside, and it was likely to have glistened across something reflective.
When James nodded, she unbuckled her seat belt, having checked the mirror for potential pursers before breaking the law. The car began to slow, and the gravel shifted under the impala. Faye couldn't help but glimpse outside, yellow eyes flicking past in the bushes. She inhaled sharply as she opened the door, hoping her feet would move as fast as her heart was racing. A branch snapped, the sound echoing in her mind as she spun around, eyes wide and searching for the source. Something was out there. "Yeah, I could've sworn - " Faye's sentence was cut off as she saw a jet black animal lunging at James.
Her hand flew to her right ring finger, but the owl ring she normally carried was inside the car, in her bag. Faye's breathing became random as she slid her body into the car, shoving her hand into her bag until she found the silver ring. Emerging from the vehicle, sword in hand, Faye charged the hellhound. Only, this hound seemed different from the ones she had found before. The color of it's coat was different... almost purple. She couldn't get a clear look at it before she sliced across its flank, hoping to distract it from maiming her boyfriend. "James?" she asked, hoping he'd respond. The demigod hadn't even looked for signs of blood; he had to be alright.

it's like you're trying to get to heaven in a hurry but the queue is shorter than you'd thought it would be
The son of Ares was not known for his speed: because of his broad figure and muscular density, it meant that he was a lot stronger than he was fast. Because of this, he didn't have time to react until her was sent flying back through the air. He landed on his back, all the wind behind taken from him, and the claw of a black beast on his torso. His eyes widened quickly, trying to wriggle away quickly as the hellhound started to claw at his features. He knew that he was stuck in a fatal position, and he tried to use the strength of his arm to throw the hound off him, as he knew that it would give him enough leverage to get up and be able to fight at an advantage. But, James had not come across a hellhound since the loss of his left forearm, and no mouth of practice in the arena could prepare him for this task. As the hound slashed at James' face, one scratch dug deeper than the rest, actually getting into his skin. The seventeen year old writhed in pain, trying yet still failing to flip the dog off him. He knew that he would grow angry with himself for the inability to successful fight the beast later - if he survived that was. Before he could try and push again, he felt the dog falter slightly above him, and realized that Faye must have hit him. He used this slight opening to his advantage, finally able to wriggle out from beneath the hound and leaping to his feet, poised and facing the hound. He reached into his back pocket as quickly as possible, pulling out a small flip-knife that he had bullied an Hephy camper to make for him. It was small but it was better than nothing. James hadn't really anticipated a fight, so he had come practically unarmed, and he doubted his knuckledusters would work against the beast. James didn't have the chance to process the blood that was only just started to form from the cut that was running beneath his eye. He knew that they needed to either kill this thing - which he didn't think would be easy seeing as he was completely unprepared for this attach - or get away. "Faye." he spoke quickly, not taking his eyes off the beast. "we need to get back in the car." he then jumped forward, slashing the small blade across the hound's face. words: 415

| The only thing that Bane could feel was blood. Red, hot, boiling blood that swelled up beneath his claws in thick bubbles that soaked into his skin. The hellhound enjoyed all kinds of blood and found that each animal had something different for him to discover. Deer blood, for example, was runny but rich in iron, and squirrel blood made for a delicious feast if you could catch one. But despite having almost every woodland animal the forest had to offer, Bane had to say that demigod blood was his favorite. The ichor of a god had been known to be sweet like golden syrup, although Bane would never get a chance to try such a succulent treat. While mortals blood was metallic tasting and rich in iron, the demigod children got the best of both worlds. The hellhound found their blood to be surprisingly sweet, just a hint of godly feature in their vital fluid. Mauling a child was so addicting to Bane, all he wanted was the blood.
Which was why it was so easy for him to start lacerating the boy he’d pinned down. He had to admit that the loss of an arm was a bit of a surprise, but that didn’t stop Bane. On the contrary, it made it quite easier, because the boy couldn’t push the hellhound off of him. Although the demigod was strong for his age, Bane toward over him and clearly had the upper hand in the battle. He snarled in the boy’s face, sending foaming spit flying out of his putrid mouth, which was filled with rows of glistening yellow teeth, bared to rip the demigod’s throat out. While Bane continued to rip into the skin, he had to resist the urge to lick the blood up. He shouldn’t waste all of the glorious scarlet liquid, because it maybe be a couple more months until he had a kill such as this. So Bane went to bite at the boy’s throat, meaning to transform this candle from fire of life to smoke of death.
Apparently though it was not fated for the hellhound to have such a feast, because a knife slashed into his flank. The boy pushed Bane off as he howled and screamed in pain, looking for the culprit. It was a girl. A girl of all things had stopped him from completing his self-designated task of killing. As the pair started to get into the car, Bane stood in front of them and tensed up. Two long and slender purple barbs shot out from his back, one piercing the car’s windshield and the other grazing the girl’s arm. The spikes were poisonous, and even a graze such as that could be very deadly. Bane would have his feast anyways. CARTHAGO DELENDA EST

| Faye McJean| Blood roared in her ears, like a tidal wave of impending doom. She was trained for battle, it was in the blood that was coursing through her veins, but none the less she felt numb. Faye hated jumping into situations randomly, they made her feel as if the world was turned on it's head, making everything upside down. No matter how well she could read, she had difficulties reading upside down. It made her head spin. So as she stumbled through the car, grasping at random objects, and tossing them aside. The demigod just couldn't place it. When she finally grabbed the ring, she feared it was too late for James. She had wasted precious time.
Her feet felt out of sync, as if weights had been strapped to her legs and forced her down into the cold ground. Faye nearly stumbled as she ran to James' aid. Gravel slid under her feet, wind flew across her face, everything else in the world was moving and yet she felt as if she was frozen. After a second, she shifted her ring into the long, sleek, two foot blade she fought with. It was nothing compared to the size of the black beast, but she had no choice. Advancing, the teenager slashed across the hell hound's flank, hoping to distract it. Faye noticed James wriggling out from under the creature's form and almost smiled. He was alive.
Her grey eyes were glued to the creature, but her peripheral vision spotted red. She assumed he was injured, dangerous monsters tended to do that much. While she heard his words, her mind didn't process them as the sea inside her ears continued to toss and turn. The car? Oh - the car. Faye took a step back as he advanced on the creature, her body angled towards the driver's door. The Athenian would've continued backing up, but she saw traces of purple soar across the windshield, shattering it. Faye saw the splintering of glass before she felt the hot blaze of pain flash across her arm. She swore, audibly, as her spare hand clenched her injured one. Her mind increased it's speed, darting from one thing to another. "It was toxic," Faye seethed, taking a shaky step backwards. "I won't be able to drive, it's really fast - schist." Schist was a metamorphic rock, laced with quartz and feldspar. It was close enough to a swear word. She hadn't even noticed the difference in the two words.
Releasing her now bleeding arm she winced, taking another slash across the hell hound's body. The short, forceful movement caught her off balance as she nearly collapsed onto the hood of the impala. "I'll be able to make it in the car," she breathed. Faye was trying to focus on staying conscious, but her mind was racing.

it's like you're trying to get to heaven in a hurry but the queue is shorter than you'd thought it would be
The son of Ares was not the one to plan in a fight: he was good at being the brawl and strength, but - like his brothers, and due to his blood - he naturally functioned on instinct. Yet, dating the ex-cabin leader of Athena and having to team of with the cabin during the attack of the undead, James had been exposed to more battle planning and tactics, and this meant he had been able to process the probabilities of them getting out alive rather quickly: minus an arm, James probably had twice the strength that Faye did, yet with her speed, they may have been able to remain alive. But now, he wasn't sure that he was going to be able to manage it. The barb that had grazed her arm would have an affect on her abilities, if she was going to even stay alive. He would have to make sure that she stayed conscious, whilst trying to keep them both alive. And - even though all of his body was screaming at him to just get Faye in the car, he knew that he couldn't expose his back to the beast, because that could be a killer blow. so, james wasn't sure if they would both be able to make it, if any of them at all. but he was sure as hell going to try. quickly throwing a glance over his shoulder to see where faye was, he quickly moved back so he was positioned between her and the beast, keeping the blade pointed before him and his eyes glued to the hellhound. "Faye, okay." he voice was husky with stress, and he struggled not to make it waver as he spoke slowly, wanting to make no sudden movements, "get in the passenger's side and i'll cover you." he wasn't sure if faye would be able to drive, as he had no clue what effect this was having on her body, and he couldn't check. but he was going to try and get them both out. "drive if you need to." he strongly hoped that she wouldn't drive and leave him, but he wanted her to if there was no other choice. words: 364

| Faye McJean| Faye had been wounded in battle before. She had been stabbed by a manticore's spike before. She had nearly died about a handful of times, but nothing compared to the burning pain that was racing up her sword arm. It was like she could be feel the poison invading her blood, changing it, making it boil. She was sure she had a fever, the symptoms were getting more and more obvious with each passing second. Her breathing was odd, but she tried to steady it. While the beast was still glaring at them, she tried to focus. In, out. Yellow eyes. Breathe in, out. The eyes are still yellow. If the demigod could focus on staying conscious, she calculated their chances of surviving went up drastically.
While the demigod was thankful of James for protecting her from the hell hound in her time of need, she was also frustrated. It would be just her luck to get stabbed with a stupid poisonous barb. The cut wasn't even that deep. "Copy that," she replied, playing his commands over in her mind once more. Faye liked creating the plans, not executing them, but in this case she didn't have much of a choice. The car was still running. "I'm going in," the teenager breathed, inhaling deeply as she backed up a few more steps, before crawling into the impala.
Putting weight on her injured limb wasn't enjoyable, but she pushed through the pain as she settled into the driver's seat. Her vision spotted black. "Schist. James - get in!" Faye called, setting her foot on the gas pedal. Her grey eyes scanned the car and found a bandana, from camp. Without thinking twice, she grabbed it and tied it around her right arm, tightly. She couldn't remember how to prevent the spread of poison. Don't move? Was that it? Faye didn't know. Focusing on her breathing again, she glared at the hound's yellow eyes. Inhale, exhale.
Once she heard the click of the door shutting, she pressed down on the pedal, shooting forward in the hopes of hitting the goddamned monster. "Hold on," Faye muttered through clenched teeth, bracing for the impact. The hound must've fled, because she didn't feel any weight slamming against the car's frame, but she didn't have time to worry about that. The black spots were back. She spun them in a quick u-turn, hoping they could reach the borders of camp before it was too late.
