Meeting Someone (Katniss)

I walked to the creek ready for a nice swim in my new bikini. It was pink with white polka dots. When I got to the water I dove in. When I came back to the surface my hair looked messy. I took my scrunchie and put it in my hair to make a ponytail. Now my hair looked like a wet ponytail. I sighed.

I didn't mean to look like I was spying. But I had been there quite a while, and when a girl came by, I wasn't just going to leave. I had been sitting with my horse, Smoke. I after four years here, I still didn't know if I was allowed to bring him here, but I always did. I knew he was around somewhere, and I knew he'd come back. He always did.

The girl, I had to admit, was beautiful. She had long brown hair, a bit darker than mine, and she had put it in a ponytail. I sighed, and I hoped she wouldn't see me in my tree perch. I had just been up there, thinking. After all, that's what I always do here. Climb a tree, and think.

I still looked intently at the girl, and wondered who her god parent was. Most Ares kids don't spend their time swimming in a creek, so she wasn't Ares. I thought she could be Poseidon, maybe Apollo. I had seen Apollo children, and she looked like one. I just hoped she wasn't nosy like most.

My forehead was still beaded with sweat from work I had done earlier, and the heat didn't help. Out of habit, I puched back my bangs with my hand, getting the few hairs out of my face. I was weaing my normal apparal. It showed my muscles, and part of the huge scar that was on my back. It was long, and you could see it on my left shoulder. It was a bit jagged, and cruel, making me remember my father.

I hadn't known that I had a ball in my pocket. I must've been playing with a dog earlier, and forgot to put it away. It fell out of my pocket, and I tried to catch it, but it was already on the ground, rolling away. I silently watched it roll, down, down down...

Until it stopped. It hit the water with a soft splash, and floated along the creek, slowly and lazily. I swore softly, and sat stone still in the tree.

I saw a ball slowly floating next to me. I began to get scared. Not terrified, scared. I took my ring off and click a small button. My ring became my bow and arrow. I shot a couple of arrows in each of the trees. The last tree I was about to hit I looked closely. There was somebody in it. The tree was to far away for me to see who was in it. I thought they probably didn't want me to see them, so I shot an arrow way off. I pretended I didn't see them.

I went underwater for a really long time. It felt good for the cold water to touch my dark brown hair. I closed my eyes and imagined I was with my brother Aiden again. Playing a game of Monoply. The both of us spending time together. That's when I had to go back up to the surface again to get air. I was used to holding my breath long. I went underwater again and closed my eyes imagining that I was still with Aiden. I imagined that he was in my safe hands.

I let out a sigh of relief. She hadn't seen me. She went back to the water, and went under for a pretty long time, and I started to get worried. But then she came back up.

Now I knew she was Apollo. I remember that children of Apollo almost always had a bow and arrows.

I was a bit tired of being so far away, not being able to see her clearly. I knew it sounded weird, but I preferred being around people when they didn't know I was there. I climbed down my tree when she was under water, and I tried to be fast, and climb a tree closer to the creek. But, just my luck, she came up when I was still making my way to the tree. Speed was something I lacked.

I went back up to the surface and saw the person I saw in the tree. It was a cute boy. I quickly went back underwater. I didn't want him to see me because he didn't want ME to see him. I loved being underwater. I wish I could be underwater 24/7. Water was a place I could do my thinking someplace I actually liked.

"Wow," I mumbled. She was gorgeous, and wearing a bikini. I sighed, and climbed up the tree quicky. I assembled myself in the tree so she wouldn't be able to see me very well.

I wisteled softly, to let Smoke know I had moved. I heard him neigh off in the distance, just as the girl sufaced again.

I had surfaced again to get some air. That's when I saw a horse. I loved animals. I walked to the horse and pet it. "What's your name?" I asked the horse.

I wasn't exactly territorial, but I loved my horse more than anything. I wasn't mad, just a little defensive.

I jumped down from the tree, and landed in a sort of squating position. I stood up straight, and brushed back my bangs again. My forehead was still beaded with a little sweat. "His name's Smoke," I said to her. "He's mine. And I'm awful sorry for seemin' to spy on ya'." I hoped I didn't have to talk much. I didn't talk as is, but I was especially tongue-tied now.

"It's okay." I said softly. No one had ever spied on me, so I was quite surprised. "By the way I'm Avalon Scott. Daughter of Apollo." I said and then smiled. I was glad to be the daughter of Apollo.

I put my hands in my pockets, and I felt my work gloves in one of them. "My name is Arctos Barnes, son of Ares," I said. I hated how my southern accent was always there. I never could get rid of it, and I guess I didn't really want to. But still, it made people think I was stupid.

I was glad she wasn't mad at me though, I really didn't like arguments. "Mighty obliged miss Avalon," I said, tipping my head forward a bit. If I had a hat, I would've tipped it, but all I had was my head.

I smiled. I actually liked his southern accent. I never met a guy with a southern accent. "I have a friend who's the son of Ares like you. By the way why were you sping on me?" I asked. I was a bit curious.

My face became a light pink. I was embarassed that he wanted to see a girl in a pink bikini. "Why were you up in the tree?" I asked. Maybe it was so he could think like me just in the water.

I actually smiled at teh mention of Smoke. People said I looked a lot better when I smiled. My face lit up, and it made me more handsome. "Yeah. He's my old pal. I used to work on a ranch," I said, still smiling a bit.

Smoke was a beautiful stallion. He had a bright red coat that was one in a million. And he ran fast, and smooth. He was my best friend.

I walked with Arctos to the water. When we got to the water I dove in. I popped up to the surface and took some air in. Then I went underwater and sat on the ocean floor waiting for Arctos.

I hadn't gone swimming in a very long time, so I flinched a bit as cold water droplets hit my arm. but it felt good too, because it was hot out.

While Avalon ws under the water, I took my shirt off. It was my favorite work shirt, and I didn't want to ruin it. When I took iy off, it revealed the whole of my scar. Huge and rugged, it went down to the bottom of the right side of my spine. And, it showed my tanned muscles, which to be honest, I really didn't care too much about.

I took my golves out of my pocket, and took my boots off. There, I was ready to go swimming for the first time in about three monthes.

When I was underwater I discovered Arctos's scar. When I got to the surface I asked, "How did you get that scar?" I asked. I actually had a mark on my lower left leg. It was when I put a fake spider om my mother's pillow. So when she woke up there was a spider on her pillow. Then she hit me with a leather belt. Making me think about it made a tear come out of my eye. I quickly wiped the tear before Arctos could see.

I dove under the water behind Arctos. When we were on the ocean floor I pointed to the lower part of my left leg. There was a mark of the leather belt my mother hit me with. I was trying to tell him the same thing happened to me just in a different way.
