| * POEMS * Here are some poems from my project I had to do for school. They aren't that good, but please comment on them anyways! I'll post my meanings for them under them, and I hope you understand them! Okay, here it goes.
* SWIMMING THE 100 IM * My heart is an earthquake As I slowly step up to the block It looks at me, as if to say, “Stay awake!” My heart is pounding in my ears, like everyone can hear it
I’m barely breathing, and when I do its heavy Swim cap, check, my head is going to explode The whistle blows, and my hands are sweaty Goggles, check, I can only see foggy light now
My head goes down and BANG! I’m off like a shark, diving for prey. There’s a stabbing at my stomach, a hunger pang I surface and begin flying down the lane
Butterfly, great, my arms are ablaze with pain Breathing every stroke, I get to the white wall Splash! I sink down and my team mates get a good soaking of rain As I go into the backstroke, and breathe the sweet air again
Teammates cheering “Go! Go! Glide!” I touch the wall, and then I’m a bullet, gone again The breaststroke now, 1-2-3-4 slide! One more wall, then a fast freestyle finish
I’m barely breathing, and when I do its heavy Foggy light, water and I’m flying like a bird My head is going to explode and my hands are all sweaty, Turns out I only got Third Meaning:

In this poem, I’m swimming the 100 IM. Whenever I’m just going to start a race, I get really nervous and jittery. I kind of jinx myself, because I think I won’t win. In my poem I tried to make that happen, by the swimmer getting third. At the start of the race, my hearting is pounding like crazy, and then most of my thoughts vanish as I start swimming. I don’t eat much before meets, so my stomach really hurts when I swim. Also, my cap is really tight against my head, so it hurts too. The first stroke in the IM is butterfly, which isn’t my strongest stroke. It really takes a lot of energy and my arms always hurt after doing some butterfly. Next is the backstroke, which I’m better at. When I push off, it makes a big splash as I go along swimming. Once I touch the wall, it’s breaststroke. I always count when I do that stroke, I don’t really know why, but I do. Lastly is freestyle, which really goes by in a blur. Once I touch the wall, I look at the board and see what place I got, in this case, third.
* TRY AND KNOCK ME DOWN * Your eyes like coal, Pierce my soul, like a knife to my heart. Make the stone harder, so you can win. I dare you to try and make me cry, But you won’t make this cloud rain. Try and knock me down.
Try and win the race. Try and knock the wall down. I’ll stare right back and build it up, taller than the clouds. It’ll stare at you too; can’t you feel its eyes glaring? How does it feel to be left in the dust? Try and knock me down.
Like a tower of leaves in the autumn, you’ll fall. I’ll rise up strong and mighty, you’ll see. The hard, cold stone you made will break away Into a new light of day Try and knock me down.
Your face is like a book, I can read your thoughts, you’re not better than me. People are wild animals, just waiting to attack. I’m sick of coming out and trying to outwit you, I want this wicked war to end. Stop trying to knock me down.
Please again; I’m begging you once again Stop. Save us both the energy. We can join forces, make a bigger wall. Let’s see if they can try and knock us down. Meaning:

This poem is about standing up to a person who bugs you all the time. It’s about standing up for yourself and making a stand for what you think. Sometimes you just need to speak your mind for someone to back off and stop hurting you. This poem says that you can stand up and show that you don’t need to hurt others to make yourself feel better. A person can also just say no, and they want nothing to do with this silly war between them. The end of the poem describes how sometimes the people who shouldn’t be friends can be. They can be stronger together as friends than as enemies.
