Going to Meet the Parent {James and Kar}

The woman walked away, and Kar continued to cry. I consoled her while she lay against my chest. I sat there, not really sure what to do. I know what I wanted to do. Go in there and give Kar's dad a piece of my mind. But the women in my head constricted me.

It started to rain again outside, and then it started to lightning. A lightning struck in front of the building so loud, it shook the building. A woman walked in the door. She was beautiful, and looked a lot like Kar, except really mad. She walked up the steps and nodded to Kar and I.

She sat next to Kar, and spoke in the same voice that had been in my head, "Hello, daughter." she said, putting her arms on her, "What should I do about your father?"

"Do what ever you want. I seriously couldn't care less right now." I got up and walked into my bedroom. I could here footsteps walking up the stairs.

I walked into her room. It was pretty big compared to my old apartment's room. She was on her bed, her head in her pillow. I could hear Aphrodite going up the steps as I closed the door. Nice to finally meet you, my finace's mother I thought in my head, The pleasures all mine, James. said the voice back.

I laid on the bed next to her, hugging her and slowly putting my hands through her hair.

"Can we leave tomorrow?" I said into my pillow. I know I'm acting like a kid but, wouldn't you do the same if you found your father making out with a woman in his room? I flipped over to my side, so I could look at James. My favorite pillow was stained with my mascara.

"I'm packing. I'm leaving tomorrow. I've had enough of my dad."

"That's fine. I understand, do you want to leave tonight or tomorrow morning?" I ask. I can hear screaming upstairs, but I just try to drown it out.

((OOC: Sorry it's not a lot, can't think of anything. :\))

"How bout, tonight. I'm saying by to my mom first though." I grabbed my clothes out of my dresser and through into my luggage then ran out of my room to my dads room. I didn't dare enter. I could hear my mom and dad screaming. I slowly opened the door against my will and then both went silent.

"Me and James are leaving. Bye mom. See you soon hopefully." I hugged my mom then ran back upstairs to the guest room where James was.

"Well, I'm going to go get my stuff." I say, leaving the room. "We'll buy the tickets when we get to the airport." I don't walk to my room, though. Instead I walk downstairs where Aphrodite and Mr.Walsh are fighting.

I walk into the room without a second thought. I look up at Aphrodite, "Nice to meet you," I saying, holding her hand and kissing it like in france. I shake my father-in-laws hand and say, "I'm sorry we have to leave, it's what Kar wants." I say, "Nice meeting you."

I grab my suitcase and walk back into Kar's room.

"We don't have a car." I sighed. "How are we supposed to get to the airport. I don't have money for a cab."

"We can get a cab, we'll just stop by a ATM. I think I saw one down the street." I say, "but it's really cold. I'll go down, and come back to get you, alright?" I finish, already half-way out the door.

((OOC: Sorry took me so long, had school/homework. Also, nice pic.))

"Okay." I said before shuting the door behind him.

I turned my back to the door and slid down to the floor. I was left alone with my mom and dad who were fighting. Fun.

I run down the street to where I saw the ATM. I grab my debit card, and use it to pull out the maximum amount: $200 in euros . The cab would be $10, maybe, but I wanted to pick up something for Kar on the way back.
I walk into an old ma-and-pa shop and look around. It's filled with flowers and necklaces, and tons of gifts. I end up picking out a dozen roses. I grab them, pay the lady, and walk out.
I get back in the house, and it's quiet, Mom must've left.

I ran around the house collecting broken things my mom and dad had thrown at each other. They got very mad I guess. My dad did make out with some street-corner girl. I knelt down and picked up the reminanents of a broken vase. I heard the door open and close. James was back. I wasn't watching what I was doing and I slit my hand on a piece of glass.

"Shiz." I whispered.

I walked in to see Kar running to the sink to rinse her hand off. I look in the kitchen and say, "I got the money," I walk into the kitchen to make sure she's okay, "and I bought you these," I say, extending the roses and smiling.

"There beautiful." I smiled then kissed him on the cheek. "Just let me fix up my hand then I'll put them in the only vase that isn't broken." I dryed my hands then put a huge band-aid across my cut.

"We will never come back to Birmingham." I mumbled.

"That's fine, but I want to see France on day." I say, half-joking. I ask her for her phone, and call a cab. I run upstairs and grab my bag, and then come back down. I walk up to Kar and kiss her. "You ready?" I say, kissing her just before.

"Yeah," I say holding up my luggage. "sorry I can't bring the roses on the plane. It's not aloud. I need to do one quick thing before we leave. Stay here." I ran down to my dads office and swung open the door.

He was sitting in his chair, reading a british governmental magazine.

"Dad, me and James are leaving now. We're not coming back if you keep this up. I will consider it, but you have to apolgize."

James sat there and waited. He looked at all the old pictures of Kar from when she was a child. She was cute, but looked nothing like the Kar he knew now. In the picture, she had childhood Innocence. Now she had something in her, a drive. He liked that.

"Dear," my dad started " what do you want me to do? After your mother left, I was heart broken. I loved your mother dearly. Now all I have is you. I need another person in my life, sweetie-" I stopped him right there.

"All? I mean nothing to you don't I? You just want some street corner girl don't you?" I had tears streaming down my face.

"Karo-" I had already run out the door to his office and upstairs. Still wiping tears from my eyes, I grabbed my luggage and walked out the front door. I saw a taxi rolling lazily down the street and called it.

I grabbed my bag and ran out the door. I saw her father as I ran. Regardless of how they felt towards each other, and what he'd done, I still felt the need for his approval. I ran in, shook his hand and said, "Sorry, it was nice meeting you." And I out the door, and down to the street with Kar.

I was sobbing. My dad basically called me nothing. Nothing important.

"Whats wrong little lady?" The cab driver said, taking my luggage and putting it in the trunk.

"Nothing. Just family stuff." I replied.

"Oh, well you should at least try to put on a smile." The cab driver smiled, revealing grotesque teeth and gums.

I half-heartedly smiled back.

"I'll try."

James came running from the house and I immediately ran into his arms.

I just put my arms up, unknowing what would happen. She hugged me, and I hugged back. I kiss her and put my arm on the back of her head and say, "It's okay." I repeat this, "It's okay."

"My dad....he doesn't love me." I said into his chest. The taxi driver looked at us.

"I'm meters running." He said in a most neutral tone.

I separated from James and walked towards the taxi and got in.

I got into the taxi. "Airport," I say importantly. He starts driving as I go, "Honey, he loves you. I know he does." I say, the taxi driver slows down and I say, "If you step on it, I'll give you $200."

"No, no he doesn't. He said, and I quote 'Now all I have left is you'. He spat it though. Like it was the worst thing in the world."

I layed my head on James' chest and closed my eyes.

I put my hand on her head and started putting my fingers through her hair. It felt nice, and as I looked out the window I had the same feeling as I normally do in cars. I never want it to end, I just want to keep driving forever. In this moment.

I wanted to just keep moving, looking at the tall buildings and rolling landscapes. I wanted Kar to be in my arms, and me in her arms. But that will never happen, said my mom, Oh, how the gods have plans for you two...
