Name: Jeremiah Nathaniel Cross Age/Birthday: 16 - 12th June. Gender: Male God Parent: Apollo Claimed: Yes Mortal Family: Jalynn Cross Years in Camp: Five Years Brief History: Jeremiah had been conceived in late 1995 after one Olympian gods, Apollo went amongst the mortals of New York to attend a performance of a NYC resident orchestra. Within this orchestra was Jalynn Cross, an incredible violinist who’s instrument-playing pulled the god’s attention away from any other possible distraction. Her music filling the ears of the god as she played her wonderful melody. His mother said that once she saw Apollo out in the crowd he knew that he was special, and it goes the same for Apollo. There was an instant connection, one that only Jalynn and Apollo could feel in the moment that their eyes meet. Love at first sight, and they began to hang out together and spend time with each other - almost inseparable forming a new couple in the world. Not long afterwards, Maria found out that she was pregnant.
As the years passed, Jalynn cared for her son, calling him Jeremiah after her own father. As a young boy, he always seemed to question where his father was and who he was at that fact. As much as she love her son, Jalynn could not bring Jeremiah the truth of his father’s identity, out of the fear that he would not believe her, that he would lash out but ultimately for his own safety. So, Jeremiah grew up without understanding his the godly side of his origin, but even without his bother telling him, he knew that he was special in some way. The woman knew what would happen if Jeremiah knew. Monsters would come looking for him and harm him. No, she could not tell him, she would not tell him. . .
. . . Or could she? About the time that Jeremiah turned 11 a satyr, a protector, came to Jalynn late at night. Chiron had sent for Jeremiah, upholding instructions from a “higher command”. The two argued: Jalynn did not want to let her son go and the satyr had to follow his orders. After a long battle of the minds, the woman finally agreed. They would go in the morning. However, without his mother knowing, Jeremiah was ease-dropping on their conversation. He was in shock at what they where speaking out, but more shocked at the appearance of the man his mother way talking to. Half-man, half-goat, brought fear into his body, and when they were done talking he ran away.
Leaving the house around four AM, all alone, he walked around New York City, in fear that he was some kind of monster. As a Demi-god, he could see through the "Mist" and for once noticing many things what a normal person would not see. He saw figures and shadows moving through the air, but he heard voices calling to him, and as he turned around he saw his little brother and best friend calling out to him. Standing in the Darkness was a woman who's beauty and scent seemed to be visible through the moonless night. Her voice was hauntingly entrancing. But it was not Jeremiah that was affected. As he stood transfixed on the strange looking woman, his brother strode passed him. He tried to speak, tried to stop Joel, but nothing happened, he was frozen with terror and indecision.
Before he could act, the female's arm arced back, and with blinding speed, his brother fell to the ground, dark liquid seeping from three deep gashes in his neck. As Jeremiah closed his eyes to will himself to awaken, he felt like a new day had dawned bright and clear. He could feel the warmth of the sun on his body. As he opened his eyes, he was haloed in a bright ring of sunlight despite the depth of the starless darkness. The bright light that would normally blind any other human did not seem to have an effect of Jeremiah, however over his head would be a symbol brighter than the sun itself. A large golden bow with the sun carved into it, glowing with the might of the sun, and an equally as bright arrow going through it. He looked up to see the sun moving into the sky as the day would begin.
"Don't just stand there Jeremiah. Put your hands out, and I will help you."
A voice in his head said. It was kind, and warm, but most of all, it seemed familiar. He trusted the voice, and held out his hands. With a shimmer, a rowan gold bow gilded with Celestial bronze formed in his hands, and a quiver of arrows on his back. His hands seemed to move of there own accord, as he knocked an arrow, and let lose the fury of a heart sore brother. The arrow flew true, and right. Piercing the Siren's through right at the vocal cords. After the siren became dust, and blew away, Jeremiah could only rock the body of his little brother back and forth until someone found him. His bow and quiver had become a pendent on his necklace.
Walking back home, he went back to his mother explaining everything that happened. Tears falling down both of their eyes. The satyr was already there waiting, and turned to let them speak in private. It seemed that he too was effected by the lose of an innocent child. He gave his good byes to his lonely mother and in the taxi on the much over, Jeremiah learned the truth of his parentage and how his father was Apollo, a God of Olympus and that he, Jeremiah Nathaniel Cross was a demigod. Living in New York, it did not take long for the taxi to drive but Jeremiah’s satyr protector was still uneasy for most of the way, in fact the entire time.
Once at Camp Half-Blood, Jeremiah met Chiron and Mr. D (Dionysus) before getting the grand tour. Shock could not even begin registering in the 11 year old's brain. After a few days of living in the Hermes Cabin, James had gotten used to the camp as best he could, being the age of 11 and also being away from his mom for the first time really in his life. Jeremiah had shown Chiron and everyone else present that he possessed quite a bit of skill. The very idea. The demigod will always remember it - aside from properly knowing the identity of his father, it had been his first time holding [i]any[i] form of weapon, let alone a bow and a quiver of arrows. Let's just say he was a natural. Ever since then he has lived in Cabin #7 with the rest of the children of Apollo.
Jeremiah decided to stay at Camp Halfblood year-round. He keeps up the appearances of boarding school up with his parents when he comes to visit around the major holidays and also here and there for ‘spring break’ or ‘fall break’. They still travel a good bit, so he never knows where he will go to visit her family. Those first years flew by and while he is still shy as all get out, he thinks that this year, will be the year that he will come out of his shell and shine. He had been pretty awkward and not very confident those first two years at Camp Halfblood. However, his confidence began growing as his skills have. He is great at archery and has managed to do well in her classes. He still has problem areas in the chariot races and in sword play, but he is a hard worker and he is willing to accept help.Physical Appearance: Jeremiah has the appearance of a very athletic teenager, his skin color a natural tanned brown. He possesses a six pack that he often likes to show off by taking his shirt of and flashing the ladies. This is because of his mixed persona, as his father is "Caucasian" and his mother is African-American. He stands about six feet and weights about 190 pounds. Most of his body weight consists of muscle anyway. With a rounded face, he sports very bright golden-hazel eyes, almost as if they were shining like the sun itself. He has a well-rounded face and his nose sits calming at its center protruding outwards with a well rounded end. He sports small to medium size lips, that are puckered usually. He is void of any facial hair, giving his face a light-skinned soft baby appearance, with a childlike, bright smile to go with it.
His hair seems to be the source of all his problems, yet he takes care of it like it is his own child - which is while his cabin members tend to tease him about belonging in the Aphrodite cabin. Jeremiah has very good hair, that takes form of a curly afro on his head. His afro doesn't touch his face, however some of the curls fall down to the side of his face. The afro rises up about five inches, and he has the front part shaved off about half an inch going into the afro.
Usually, he is seen wearing skinny jeans - either black or blue - with a designer shirt on, along with a snap-back. Jeremiah is someone who knows how to dress and loves clothing, as shown by his huge closet in the Apollo cabin, which is said to rival that of most of the female from the Aphrodite cabin. And he has to keep his shoes in a different closet all together. Personality: Jeremiah is a rather calm and quiet man, he tends to keep to himself. He is not by any means a loner, nor does he not have a great ability to make friends, Jeremiah just doesn't have much to say. Because he says very little, when he does speak people tend to listen. He is a strong believer in the ideal of actions speaking louder then words. People find him to be a loyal friend and very outgoing once they can actually get him to talk. His go with the flow attitude sometimes rubs people the wrong way, but mostly people enjoy the easy going aspect of his personality. Jeremiah is a believer in the more traditional aspects of life. Honor, Glory and loyalty are at the top of his priority list.
One thing that most people find to be Jeremiah's most irritating and plain annoying personality trait is the fact he always says what he believes to be the truth. More often then not his friends can be heard telling him "Just because it's true doesn't mean it needs to be said." Though he is rather hard to anger, he has the patience for almost anything except for stupidity. Flagrant disrespect and lying will be the one thing that a person can do to get on his bad side.
He has a great knowledge of the human body and this can be attributed to his mother's job as a doctor. Like all Demi-gods he has his strengths and weaknesses, Jeremiah's strengths happen to lie in the art of healing and archery. Like most Apollo children, he can play a musical instrument or sing. This tends to get him picked on by the others that are in his cabin, however he doesn't really let this get to him. Instead of putting out music like most of his siblings, he uses drawings and sketches to express himself.Fatal Flaw: For his fatal flaw, he has a sense of inferiority. He thinks he needs to prove himself to everyone, and often feels inferior to many of the other Demi-gods. This fatal flaw doesn't allow him to openly speak to the others when planning or having meetings, but a plus about this is that Jeremiah usually works twice as hard as everyone else, because of the inferiority. Not saying that he has a lack of confidence, but he just feels the need to prove himself for everything, unlike others who already know what they are capable of.Pets: Jeremiah possess a hawk that his father gave to him for his 15th Birthday.Because of this, he named the hawk Apollonir, after his father. Jeremiah can easily tell him apart from other birds as she also had a distinctive look. Specifically her otherwise white belly is dotted with a near uniform pattern of yellow and golden streaks which if one looks carefully will see present along her head and neck as well, though in the later, the golden portions are dominant. With a piercing gaze and powerful and razor sharp talons, she is quite a sight to behold .Talents: Like all Apollo's children, Jeremiah is bestowed with the ability to shoot his arrows with pinpoint accuracy, striking foes at long-distances with ease. It is Jeremiah's ability to strike their foes in specific areas of their bodies that make them such a threat. Effectively, Jeremiah can disarm and even nullify long-range attacks by striking them in mid-air with pinpoint accuracy. He can completely disable a foe with a precise hit to any of the eight vital organs: liver, lungs, spine, clavicle, vein, neck, brain, kidneys, or heart. Jeremiah is also able to curve his arrows' path after firing them. This effectively makes the arrows miniature heat-seeking missiles, but instead of locking on to heat, they target whatever enemy they have. It is unknown how long Jeremiah can control the arrow's path, or if there is a limit to how many can be under his control. So far he has only fired 3 simultaneously using this method. Not only that, it seems that Jeremiah is by far the most knowledgeable on health related matters in all of the Apollo Cabin. He is known to be highly proficient in conventional healing techniques as well as herbal healing and can heal by singing a hymn to his father in Ancient Greek. Jeremiah also possesses the two main qualities which almost all Demigods have - He is both Dyslexic as well as having ADHD.Weapons and Equipment: Sealed within the pendent around his neck, Jeremiah carries his weapon. A bow that is shown to have an unique shape, unlike that of most other archers. When called on, its color is white and gold, and reveals the shape of wings above the spot where arrows are fired. The wire connecteding it, is said to made from a golden thread strung by the Gods themselves. It is the same Bow that his father gave him the day that his little brother way killed. Along with the bow, when he releases the neckalace, it comes with a quiver that is slung over his shoulder, containing an infinate number of arrows. The quiver itself is golden in color, with pale white streaks around it, and has been enchanted, allowing for him to call on the arrow Jeremiah needs for that situation. "Sonic Arrows" - Sonic Arrows produce an ear shattering sound when they're fired, and upon contact with any surface or if Phoebe should will it, the arrows produce a tremendous blast of sound. Because the balance part of the body is located in the ear, the sound usually disorientates the opponent and throws them completely off balance."Explosive Arrows" - Explosive Arrows detonate on contact to create a small explosion, mimicing that of a Hand grenade. Like the other arrows, Phoebe is able to will the Arrow to Explode when she wishes, or on contact with a surface. The explosion is large enough to kill multiple enemies, though she must be careful none of her allies are close by as she can't control the blast itself."Concussive Arrows" - Concussive Arrows work in the same way that Explosive Arrows do, however when they explode, they rely solely on large blunt force trauma to damage the target. Whilst they're stronger then an Explosive Arrow if they hit the target, Concussive Arrows lose tremendous amounts of force as the distance from the Explosion increases. Like the rest of the arrows, Phoebe can detonate this at will."Smoking Arrows" - Smoking Arrows work a bit like 'Fart Arrows', the only difference being: They release much more smoke and don't smell. When the smoking arrow detonates, whether by hitting something or by Phoebe's will, the Arrow immediately begins producing a thick cloud of smoke which severely narrows a person's vision and makes it harder to breathe - Though the smoke itself does no damage to a person or monster."Crying Arrows" - Crying Arrows are like Smoking Arrows in a way, though they differ. Crying Arrows release a strong smoke into the air which causes an extremely high irritation to the person's eyes, usually causing them to water up - Which is where they get their name from. If inhaled, they also cause discomfort to the throat, as well as the mouth and nose. Phoebe can willingly detonate this arrow, but if she is too close - The effects are the same on her as others."Burning Arrows" - Burning Arrows are not actually on fire, instead when they hit a target they release a quick burst of flammable gas within a 1 meter radius before subsequently igniting and burning at temperatures of over 2000 degrees centigrade. These arrows MUST his an object before the gas can be released, however the gas takes only a second to be released and ignited."Light Arrows" - Light Arrows can be detonated at any time by Phoebe, or when they hit a surface and once they detonate, they release a severe blinding flash of light - Activating all the cells in the eye and causing a complete blindness for approximately 4-5 seconds. As this happens, there is also an extremely loud bang that occurs, often to disorientate the opponent and throw them off balance."Spread Arrows" - Spread Arrows differ severely from other arrows, as they can only be triggered by Phoebe. Once triggered, the arrow head seemingly breaks down into approximately 15 smaller pieces of solid Celestial Bronze strapnel, each with the ability to pierce deeply into an opponent. The downside to this arrow, however, is that it rarely kills an opponent because the bits of metal are so small, meaning these are used mainly to maime and wound."Piercing Arrows" - Piercing Arrows are exactly how they sound. They're exactly the same as normal arrows, however they are capable of piercing through any surface in front of them, making them extremely lethal in battle but also very effective in wars as one could kill multiple enemies with a single shot."Shock Arrows" - Shock Arrows release a small burst of Electricty which doesn't actually kill the opponent, the electrical charge is more like that of a tazer and so - It causes all the muscles in the body to uncontrollably tense up for 10 seconds, leaving the opponent completely defenseless for you to either kill them, or for an easier retreat."Corrosive Arrows" - Corrosive Arrows, whether detonated by choice or when they hit a surface, release a thick liquid in all directions for 2 meters that has the power to melt and corrode just about anything, from human skin up to items harder than steel."Frozen Arrows" - Frozen Arrows are only released when they hit a surface, and once they do, the arrow head seemingly explodes but instead of burning the opponent, a large block of Ice materializes instantly, trapping the target in a large block of Ice."Glue Arrows" - Glue arrows are detonated by choice or hitting a target, and when they detonate, they release an extremely thick and sticky residue which sets after about 5 seconds and can become harder than cement. The Glue will lose it's stickiness after only about 15 seconds but completely immobilizes your opponent."Gust Arrows" - Gust arrows are triggered in midflight to detonate and when it does, it releases a sharp Gust of Wind designed to hit the opponent and throw them backwards about 5-10 meters, depending on their weight, as well as cause them to turn away and momentarily close their eyes - Making them good for distractions."Sleeping Arrows" - Sleeping Arrows can only detonate on a surface, and when they do, they release a Gas into the air which - When inhaled - Travels into the opponent's brain and causes them to first become drowsy before eventually falling asleep and becoming incapacitated. These arrows are perfect for capturing people or beasts."Rubber Arrows" - Rubber Arrows work differently to the other arrows. With Rubber Arrows, they don't do anything in particular, so they are like normal arrows - However - The arrows themselves will bounce off the first surface they hit and actually gain speed and momentum from it.Year-Round: Jeremiah now lives at Camp and as such, this means he resides here all Year-Round.
