I looked at Brandon and said, "But... no, this can't be happening. I don't want to be claimed as her daughter. She doesn't deserve to claim me as her daughter. She abandoned me and that I can never forgive."

I kissed her forehead. "I know. IT was hard ofr me too. But we have to let the camp director know at least right?" I said. I hugged her close. She was really scared. I could tell. She was really angry and full of resentment too. "It's going to be alright." I told her.

I walked close to him. He was all that was keeping me away from going completely insane about being claimed by Khione. I hoped that we'd be able to get through this together. I never wanted to become like her.

I squeezad her hand as we entered the big house. She was really tense. Chiron talked to her about the gods and such. When we got out of the big house, I hugged her close. I know, it hard for her, I mean, my mom hated me and resented me the day she found out she was pregnant with me.

I looked at Brandon and said, "Please don't let me become like Khione. I really don't want to have anything to do with her except for my powers." I looked at him hoping he would help me by doing all he could to make sure that that didn't happen.

I smiled at her. "I promise, I'll do everything I can to keep you away form that path kay? Now calm down. Youre stressing youreself too much Ames." I held her tight. "Wanna go talk about it?" I asked her.

I nodded and said, "I'd like that a lot. Can we go back to the lake please?" I actually liked the lake a lot more than the actual camp area. It felt more comfortable to me though I wasn't entirely sure why it did.

I held her hand and walked there with her. Of course she would like the lake more. There were less people there. "C'mon lets go" I said.

I smiled as we reached the lake. I sat down on the ground and put my feet in the water. I waited for Brandon to sit down and then I said, "I'm sorry. You must think I'm being ridiculous. It's just I've heard stories about her from my father about how she just stormed out of the house. Literally she went outside of the house in the form of a blizzard and that was the last time he ever saw her. All my life I've had to ask myself, why did she leave me? Why did she leave us? Did she really hate me that much? And if she hated me then why does she think all of a sudden I'm going to like her now that she's claimed me." Tears were rolling down my cheeks as I said this. I just really didn't understand. Why did this happen to me. Why did this happen to any of us?

I wiped the tears off her cheeks "You know, you shouldn't feel bad. My mom abused me and put me up for adoption when I was 8." I pointed to my scar. "She used a peice of broken glass from a beer bottle to do that to me. I was 7. My dad, I've only seen him once, and he didn't even bother to talk to me. It's going to be okay. I feel your pain." I huged her tightly, letting the tears soak into my shirt.

I cried into his shirt and held him close to me. He was what grounded me to this planet right now. I didn't want to let go of him. I then said to him, "... I know this sounds crazy after what this is putting me through but only for curiosity would it be possible to go see Khione? I think what I really need right now is to talk to her. I need to find out from her why she left when I was just a baby and why she has never said anything to me and now she claims me like oh hey by the way you're mine. She has a lot of explaining to do."

I smiled. She was finally talking. "We could ask try iris messaging her. I havent tried Iris messaging a god though. We can try right now though." I caressed her face. "It's against immortal law that they tamper with out fates, but we'll take a crack at it. Kay? Maybe she wanted to help but she couldn't" I told her.

I nodded and took out a drachma. I asked Brandon, "So how does this thing work? I figure it will cost drachmas as most things here do." I wondered how the iris messaging thing would work.

"You'll see." I said as I splashed some water. I threw a drachma in. "O Iris godess of the rainbow, please accept my offering, Show me Khloine, godess of the winter." said. I waited for the Iris message to go through to the other end.

I looked into the water that was like a still in the air and saw a girl who sort of looked similar to me appear in the water except she seemed a lot more powerful. I looked at her and then said, "M-m-mother? Is that you?"

"Yes Amelia, it is me" I said. Beside her was a boy around the age of 14. Amelia's eyes were red and puffy. Why was she crying? What does that boy have to with her?

I looked at my mother and said, "Why, mom? Why did you leave me? Is it because you hated my father and I? Did you think that if you could get away from us you'd be happy or something while you left us to deal with the loss of you? Me never even knowing about you before about 3 days ago? Where were you when I was fighting off those two laistrygonian? I'll have know I almost died because of them. You never once helped me and now you think that just because you claimed me I'll feel oh so lucky that you're my mom? Don't get me wrong being able to freeze things is pretty cool but it would've been nice to have you there too to just hear from you every once in a while."

(By the way Amelia hasn't told you this because she doesn't even know it herself but the two chakram that she is able to summon were a gift from her mother as her way of being there for her when she was in trouble.)

That is my gift to you." I said. I felt guilty. But what I said was true. I did not want to harm her or her father.

I listened to my mom and thought about how many times the ice chakram seemed to appear right when I needed them most. In all of my times of danger they would somehow simply appear until I could somewhat control the appearance and disappearance of them. I thought to myself for a moment and what I said next surprised even me. I looked at Khione and said, "I'm sorry I've been angry with you mom. I just wish that I could have seen you more growing up. Do you think Zeus would allow it for me to maybe visit you and Boreas over the winter? I would love to be there with you just for one winter even."

I looked at Brandon as the Iris Message disappeared and I said, "Well, I feel a little bit better now and a little less resentful towards her. At least now I know I wasn't completely left alone by her." I smiled hugging Brandon closely.

I then said to him, "Do you think we'd still be allowed in the same cabin together even though we have different god parents?" I really didn't want to have to be in a totally different cabin than he was in when it was time to go to our cabins.

I sighed and said, "Oh well... I guess I can't get everything I want. I'm just so used to it after being held in the spotlight for so long and then all of a sudden I'm placed in an area where I'm just one out of I don't know how many other campers. It's a really big change."
