"Wha-?" Syn asked, startling the owl as she pulled some of hair hair in front of hair and stared at it. "Woooow..." she said, stunned by the colour of her hair. "That is weird....4 years and I've never noticed" she said softly, absent mindedly stroking the owls feathers before letting it climb onto her arm again. "Go on" she whispered to it, kissing it softly before it flew off for night time hunting.

Without realizing I made three tables float in midair and then fall back to the earth,upside down.It happened all the time when I was acting crazy and hyper and that crap.

Magnus chuckled. "You seriously haven't noticed. Eh, that's kinda funny."
"So Syn, what do you think of Artemis?" Chris asked. "Since you're so big on animals and she's the hunt goddess."

"Not in to hunting all too much..." Syn said, drawing a picture of a wolf in the sand. "But she's cool," she added, looking at the drawing sadly. "I don't think I'd be a good huntress" she said, then swiped the picture angrily.

"Ah," Chris said. "How's your shot? You had any practice with a bow and arrow?"
"Or a .50 caliber sniper rifle? Or a squad automatic weapon?" Magnus added on, jokingly.

Adam listened to the three as they talked. He didn't really have an opinion on the matter, really. He had never hunted, and he had never wanted to. He knew that there was no place in the Underworld for animals, and that they're souls didn't go there. That was enough to keep him away from killing them. There was no point in it.

"Yeah...I'm good with shooting....." she said, trailing off. "I don't like violence....okay?" she added uncomfortably, her voice quiet. She didn't want to seem rude, but she really didn't like violence. It usually led to blood.

"Don't like violence," Magnus repeated. "I don't mean to seem rude, but you'll have a hard time avoiding that now. The war's only gonna get worse."
Chris put a hand on Syn's shoulder. "It's fine. That's perfectly respectable."

"It's got nothing to do with respectability..." Syn said, "I can't explain it that well....one reason is: I'm afraid of blood" she said, staring at the sand. "I mean, I have had the chance to kill monsters.....but I don't....I can't" she said.

"Even though monsters don't bleed?" Magnus asked.
Chris gave a serious nod. "I see. Well..." He trailed off, not knowing what to say for a moment. "Well, that may be true, but your affinity with animals is still amazing. A little more special than swordsmanship or shooting skills, eh?"

"Yeah, it's impressive," He said to the girl sitting beside her, practically repeating what Chris had said. Adam had to admit, he wasn't the biggest fan on violence himself. Bloodshed, death, etc. It all just pulled on his heart. He had spent too much time in the Underworld, and that's what got to him. Seeing those souls, just resting and being tortured for eternity. Once you had seen it, you couldn't go through a fight without seeing that in your mind. The mental image of eternal damnation always lurked in the back of your mind, ready to un-ease itself from your thoughts.

"Yeah...." Syn said, glancing at all three of them with a smile. "I guess the animals come from my mothers side...." she said, then frowned. "Even though I don't know who she is...." she added, thinking for a bit before falling backwards onto the sand and staring at the sky. "What's being claimed like?"

"The gods send you an obvious symbol," Magnus explained. "I got a mini lightning storm hovering over my head. I've seen Hades kids get black fire, and Hephaestus a flaming hammer. Stuff like that."

"Well, it's typically obvious," Chris said. "Aphrodite's not gonna send you a bloody wild boar head, you know?"
All of a sudden it hit Magnus that he had seen Syn before. Previously, he was too busy chilling out, but now an old memory began to surface, like a submarine.
You look so familiar, the son of Zeus thought, staring at the girl. He didn't avert his gaze, not even after she and Chris both started giving him strange looks. Chris especially. Magnus was not one to ogle girls.
Then, Magnus snapped his fingers so hard an electric spark sprung between them. "Oh my gods!" he exclaimed out loud.

Adam shrugged. "You just know." It was an odd thing to say. But, despite how ridiculous it sounded, it was true. As soon as you saw the sign, you just knew. Adam, for instance, had gotten an image of a plain, golden coin. Part of it was shrouded in shadow, and this was what had struck it in Adam. Unbeknownst to some people, Hades was also the god of hidden wealth, and this was his sign. It was weird, the boy thought, how you instantly realized it. That was when Magnus had erupted into a sudden burst, and exclaimed his realization to the gods. Raising an eyebrow, he looked over at the larger boy, rather curious as to what he had learned.

Syn jumped, moving away a little in fright as the spark flared between his fingers. "Wha-what...?" she asked, suspicious as he looked at her strangely. She found herself feeling slightly awkward, and leaning away from him after the spark. The position she was in revealed her faint and fading scar on her left arm that she had received from the hell hound who had attacked her, but she didn't notice it was showing.

The scar on Syn's arm only made Magnus certain that his memory was correct. He moved towards Chris, Syn and Adam.
"Listen, can you guys keep a secret?" When they nodded, he proceeded with his explanation. "I've never told anyone this before, save for two Zeus girls whom I trust, but I have an alter ego, Thunder Hawk. I got a costume, body armour, guns, the whole shebang. Some nights I roam around on my Harley as him, looking for criminals."
Chris did a double-take. "Dude...you kidding?"
Magnus shook his head. "Oh no, I'm not. I remember one night a while back. That time I was driving around the edges of the city when I saw a hellhound bearing down on a girl. I shot it down, but by that time it had mauled her pretty bad. She was out cold from blood loss. I moved in, but another hellhound hit me from behind. Did a good number on me before I could reach a pistol to take it out. I put her in the back of my Hummer--if I was on my Harley things would have been difficult--and started heading to the nearest hospital. But on my way there, this symbol appeared over the girl's head--a green owl. Then, I realized she was a demigod, and brought her to camp instead."
He paused to allow the others to digest all this before continuing. "Syn, the girl was you. I am sure of it. I remember your arm wound, and how you looked. The owl makes sense, everything does."

"No, it's just me." she mumbled. The pounding of music seems to far for her, whenever she thinks. "I guess that's all my fault too." she whispered.

"Have fun."he whispered asthey went to dance. Well, that's another group that I warded off without knowing, he thought bitterly. He hoped there was someone who wouldn't go whenever he's around. But almost everyone drifted far away whenever he's involved.

"A...An owl?" Syn asked quietly. She looked terrified, almost, like she'd seen a ghost. "You're sure?" her skin was paler than normal, and she looked at the ocean sadly. "Thats what She meant...." she whispered to herself, one hand fiddling with her necklace, the other stuffed in her pocket as if she was holding something. "Why couldn't she just tell me in the letter?"

Now it was Magnus' turn to be lost. "Who? Letter? Uh...I'm definitely missing something here."
"It's okay Syn," Chris said softly. "Just calm down, and tell us what this is about. Who wrote you a letter?"

Adam ran all this sudden information through his head. "Wait..." He said under his breath, though he was sure the other three could hear him. "This is odd, actually. Don't you guys think it's rather coincidental that Magnus and Syn would meet up here, when he was the one that saved her." He stared at the water, trying to run these thoughts through his mind. "It seems odd to me..."

Looking at Adam curiously, she shrugged her shoulders. "I-I don't know...." she murmured. But she took a depth breath, hesitating before she pulled her hand out of her pocket, and scrunched up piece of paper in her hand. She stared at it glumly for a moment, before sighing. "This piece of paper....it's a letter." She looked at the water, clenching her hand around the paper. "The letter was written by my former self. By me" she said quietly. "I contains everything I know about myself from....before" she looked down sadly.

"Maia..." Syn looked up, meeting the three boys eyes before she continued. "My mothers' name is Maia...the Goddess of animals"

The son of Hades nodded, laughing lightly. "That explains a lot," He said, jokingly, attempting to lighten the mood. Looking at the piece of paper than Syn held in her hand, he thought about it, absently. She certainly is interesting... He looked at the water, and shrugged to no topic in particular. "Though, really, it does make a lot of sense."
