| I walked into the Khione Cabin. I was really used to the coldness. It was like my home in North Dakota. That's why my dad named me Alaska. He named me that so when I went to camp I would remember where I was from. I laid down on my bed. I was waiying for something exciting to happen. Except for a manticore to come. I wanted someone to come in the room because I was the only one in the room. And I will always be in my mind.

| • Taylor Brooks •Daughter of Khione Yawning, Taylor stumbled her way out of the November room. Having just woken up from a nice long nap, she felt really refreshed and it seemed like she had the energy to go running up and down Half-Blood Hill non-stop for hours. Okay, maybe it would be a little too much for someone who had just gotten out of bed.
She barely raked her hair with her comb, leaving it slightly messy as she got out of her room. Taylor wasn't really one to care too much about her appearance, and you could easily tell by her clothes. She was still wearing the clothes she went to bed with--a dark green overlarge shirt (which clashed with her auburn hair) and a pair of white shorts. She walked barefoot despite the coldness of the floor, as being a daughter of Khione entitled her to an immunity to low temperatures.
Taylor had just closed the door behind her when she saw that the living room was empty. Figures. Maybe the whole cabin was empty. Taylor looked around, noticing that the door to one of the rooms was ajar. Curiously, she peeked in, seeing a girl of fourteen lying on her bed. "Bored, are you?" Taylor asked, leaning against the door frame as she looked at her half-sister.
She wasn't really... close to her siblings, so maybe she could try to make an effort now.

| I sat up and looked at the door frame. "Yeah. There's nothing to do here." I said. Today wasn't a busy day for me. I wasn't going on a date or hanging out with friends. I really didn't have friends. Maybe I could try to make one now. "I'm Alaska. Who are you?" I asked. | |

| "'Course there isn't. Camp can get boring after the first year," Taylor said, chuckling. Well, it was true. Taylor loved camp and all, but once you got over the fact that everything in the Greek mythology was real, it just became an everyday thing and like most everyday things, it can get boring quick.
"I'm Taylor. Interesting fact: I'm from Alaska." Her voice wavered a little as she thought about her past life and how it was so unreachable now. Great, try not to think about that, will you? In her efforts to change the topic, her mind was suddenly struck with a random thought. "You're not sixteen, are you? Or turning seventeen this year?"
It would be slightly weird if Alaska was the same age as her. That just meant that Khione had been with two men at one time and Taylor couldn't hide the fact that it creeped her out a little.

| "No. I'm 14." I said. I grinned. "How old are you?" I asked. Taylor looked about 15 or 16. I didn't care how old she was. I liked friends that are all different ages. | |

| Taylor heaved a sigh of relief. "Sixteen, but I'm turning seventeen on the 29th," she said, smiling. "It would be kinda weird if we were the same age. It'd be like Khione... and our dads... never mind."
She gave an involuntary shiver, trying not to think of those thoughts. Especially in front of a younger girl. Sure, they were just thoughts, but what if she accidentally blurted them out loud? Taylor didn't want to damage Alaska's innocence or something like that. "You been here long?"

| I understood what Taylor was trying to tell me. "I've been here since I was 7. So, yeah I've been here for a long time." I said. "How long have you been here?" I asked. | |

| Taylor paused for a few moments, doing some calculations in her head. She blinked in surprise. "So you've been here for seven years? My record pales in comparison. I've been here since I was thirteen," she said, chuckling slightly.
But seven years? Taylor had only been here for three, and she was already bored and sick of camp as it is--even if she loved it to bits. She couldn't imagine being stuck here for more than twice her experience. She'd go crazy seeing the same old things again and again. "Have you ever snuck out?" she asked curiously.

| "I snuck out once. It wasn't really fun. It wasn't fun because I met two guys. One of them had a candy shop. The candy was good. But that's all we did. Eat candy." I said. | |

| Taylor raised her eyebrows. Alaska snuck out just to eat candy? Laughing, she shook her head slightly. Alaska was missing out on a lot of things a girl her age would be busy doing--watching movies, hang out in malls, or maybe even dating. Perhaps Alaska was just a goody-two-shoes or something.
"Wow. Didn't feel like being a bit more adventurous?" she chuckled as she entered the room. Sitting on the bed beside Alaska's, she grinned widely at her. "I snuck out a fair few times myself. Watched movies, killed a few hellhounds, ended up in a farm even..." she trailed off, remembering the circumstances that ended up with her being in the said farm. She shook those thoughts off; there was no need to relive those kinds of memories. Preoccupied with her thoughts, Taylor didn't notice that she had gone silent in quite a few moments.

| "I know. I want to be adventurous, but I want to be adventurous with someone. I don't have a boyfriend and don't have any friends here." I said. Taylor had done so many things and all I did was sneek out to eat candy. Making me think that I had no friends and no boyfriend made want to cry. | |

| Taylor was just surprised to see that Alaska was on the verge of crying. Uh, emotional much? She never really liked crying herself, but she didn't exactly want to say that aloud. But then she also started to feel a little pity for her... Seven years with no friends whatsoever? My, what a sad life. Taylor wondered if Alaska tried to make an effort to remedy that.
"Okay. Chill," she began, not really thinking about what she was saying. She just wanted Alaska to not cry because if she did, Taylor would just sit there blankly without having any idea how to make her stop. "Er, we're all here. We're like your family here in camp, so..." she stumbled around with her words, starting to feel awkward.

| "Family? None of the kids here didn't even know I live here. Except for you." I said. Taylor was starting to become my friend. I would enjoy if Taylor became my friend. | |

| Way to make things more awkward, Taylor.
Taylor just hated how she couldn't seem to find the correct words in awkward situations. From the sound of it, Alaska was the kind of kid people easily ignored. Also the type of person Taylor didn't know how to deal with. What was she supposed to do? All she could think about was trying not to make the whole thing worse by saying the wrong things. She surprised herself, in some way. She didn't know she had become this paranoid. Something had definitely gone wrong with her.
"There are a lot of us, y'know. Don't you have roommates?" Taylor asked. Maybe Alaska wasn't close to her roommates. She could understand if that was the case, seeing that she didn't even talk to her roommates herself. "Well I guess it's lucky chance that I was like 'Oh hey one of the doors is kinda open. Let's see who's here.'" She laughed slightly at her pitiful attempt to crack a joke. Gods, I suck.

| I giggled at Taylor's joke. "Yeah. I have roommates. I tried talking to some of them. I only met 2 of them. Kate, Nevada, and you." I said. | |

| Taylor laid back on the bed she was seated on, just glad that Alaska didn't seem to be close to breaking down. "Kate... hm, oh yeah. I met her too, on her first day I think."
She sat up, realizing that she was just about to doze off. That wouldn't be very nice. She mentally scolded herself for almost nodding off--she had just been out of bed, for gods' sake. Starting to bounce a little on the mattress just for something to do, she offered a small smile to Alaska before asking, "So what are you up to today?"

| "Nothing. I was jut planning to sleep all day." I said. I frowned. I had nothing to do all day accept sleep. "What are you doing today?" I asked.

| Taylor shrugged. She couldn't really imagine doing the same. It would make her feel sore if she stayed on her bed for more than twelve hours. Even if the idea of taking another nap on this very comfortable bed sounded great... She cleared her thoughts of that temptation. Get out of it--you need exercise, the stern part of her mind told her.
"I dunno. Maybe jogging. Anything that keeps me up, I s'pose," she said. She hesitated for a few moments before adding, "You can join me if you want. I don't think sleeping the whole day is good for your health."

| "Okay. But first we need to eat breakfast at the Mess Hall. I wonder what they have." I said. I walked to the door and waited for Taylor there. | |

| "Sure," Taylor agreed. She was about to follow when she got a look at a mirror and saw the overlarge shirt she was wearing. Certainly not something to wear outside of the cabin. Heck, you can see her underwear through the thin fabric.
"Er... wait for me, sis? I'll only be a few seconds." With that, Taylor disappeared into her room. She reappeared five minutes later, now sporting a more decent attire comprising of a sleeveless yellow shirt and a pair of pedal shorts. She had tied her hair up in a messy ponytail too. Much better. "Alright, let's go. I'm starving," she said with a laugh, closing the door to the cabin behind her.

| "Alright. I'll wait for you." I sad. When Taylor came out of her room she looked better than before. "I'm starving too." I said. We both walked to the Mess Hall.
Do we make a topic in the Mess Hall?
