Meira's stomach is thrumming! She trudged slowly to the mess hall, clutching her stomach. She barely made it to the Demeter Cabin's table, and ordered some snacks. She ordered her favorite lasagna, and filled her magic goblet some water. The she ordered two more trays of lasagna.

"Man, eating is SO not fun when you're alone," she said matter-of-factually as she gobbled the first ray of lasagna. "I have to wait for another hour for the dinner... and I have to get back before dinner. But oh well, I'm going to eat and wait for someone." Meira drank her water.

Okay, so Taylor was hungry. So what if it was sill an hour before dinner? Not like Taylor could control how her stomach worked. The daughter of Khione made her way towards the mess hall, only to realize that she wasn't going to be alone there. She spotted a familiar-looking girl by the Demeter table and saw... Taylor blinked. Were her eyes deceiving her, or were those really three trays of lasagna?

"Someone looks hungry," Taylor said, being loud enough for the girl to hear. She chortled a bit as she took a seat. Taylor just got a sandwich, as she decided not to eat too much. After all, she didn't want to be too full for dinner.

Meira heard a voice, and she grinned. "Yeah, someone looks very hungry! Actually, three trays of lasagna weren't enough I'm still longing for dinner," Meira said as the goblet filled itself with milk.

And then she really focused on the girl. Meira tilted her head a bit. Another camper breaking into the Mess Hall. Yeah, just like her. "Ssssh, don't say this to my cabin leader, all right? I'm busted!" Meira was really having a good time with her lasagnas she didn't mind if the girl thought her as... well, a very hungry Demeter kid.

Wait, what? The lasagnas weren't enough? Taylor's eyes widened there, before she burst into laughter. She couldn't really help it, but the scene was just funny. She smiled at the girl, telling her without words that she meant no offense.

"Don't worry. Your secret's safe with me," Taylor promised as she finished the last bits of her sandwich. "Taylor, daughter of Khione. You?"

Meira laughed with the girl. Jeez! She wasn't really like this in the cabin. She tried to act formal. But right now, alone in mess hall with the daughter of Khione...

Wait, daughter of Khione? And Meira remembered the girl's question.

"Oh, uh, yeah," Meira said, still laughing a bit. "I'm Meira Sanzenin, daughter of Demeter!" Meira finished her lasagna and drank the milk.

Taylor's eyes swept over the now empty trays. She still couldn't believe her eyes. She was about to comment when her eyes lit up as Meira said Demeter. Well, she knew that she was probably a daughter of Demeter from seeing her around before, but only by hearing the goddess's name did she realize that this was one of her boyfriend's half-sisters. Taylor quietly laughed to herself at the thought.

"How long have you been here? I've seen you around before," Taylor said as she leaned her elbows on the table to focus on Meira.

Now now, Meira saw Taylor's eyes lit up when she heard the name 'Demeter.' Inside joke, she guessed, but realized she doesn't even care. Meira is an expert with obvious. She noticed she and Taylor were practically shouting with each other. Unfortunately, Khione's table is far away from Demeter's table.

"How long? Um, been here for at least five years, but I didn't return for three summers. Seen me? You must've been here when I was 13. But yeah, most campers had seen me in the infirmary, injured with thorns," she said, chugging the last bit of her milk. She wanted to order more, but the twilight was there.

Taylor was about to shout back a reply, when she closed her mouth, drank the rest of her water and approached the Demeter table. Why shout when you can just walk up to the person you were talking to? Besides, there was no one else there, and it technically wasn't dinner time yet as no one else had arrived. Screw the rules when no one was looking, Taylor thought.

Taylor sat down on the Demeter table, letting her feet rest on one of the chairs. Hopefully Demeter wouldn't mind or anything. She had her hands clasped on top of her knees as she grinned at Meira. "Yeah, I suppose so, since I lived the last three years of my life in here," she said. "Haven't been to the infirmary too many times though, so I probably didn't see you there. See you get tangled up in thorns often."

Meira trailed her eyes after Taylor. She blinked when the girl sat at the Demeter table, grinning. "Tangled up in thorns, eh? That's so true!" Meira flipped her hair back when the soft wind blew. And then, all of a sudden, Meira was lost in thoughts.

"Being a daughter of Demeter and all, I got a way with a thorns, but I'm still working on it," she sighed, and got her attention to the girl. "You're a daughter of Khione. I have seen you somewhere, and... I don't know much about the goddess. But I bet you're pretty strong!" Meira admitted sheepishly.

"Not so much. I mean I can freeze things but that's basically it." Taylor shrugged. "Khione is the goddess of ice. That's why our cabin is always set at below zero temperatures."

Taylor chuckled at that. It was probably why no other campers wanted to get in their cabin. They can possibly be turned into icicles within minutes. "I think your powers are cooler though. Making trees and plants spring from out of nowhere? You might be able to save the world from global warming if you combine all your powers."

Meira thought about it. Throwing thorns or freezing people? And below 0 degrees? Wow. The plants will wither there and die. Most Demeter kids would never befriend the Khione children, but Meira thinks the Khione cabin was pretty cool.

"Wow. It's nice to stay there in summer!" Meira commented, awed.

Meira glanced at the sinking sun. Any minute now, Chiron would come and announce the supper time. When he saw Taylor, busted. When he saw Meira, busted. But Meira didn't care, as she didn't care about anything.

Taylor laughed. "Yeah, maybe. It's going to be like living in a freezer though."

Taylor didn't mind the cold. Heck, she was immune to the cold. She started to wonder how many other campers can brave the cold in her cabin, even if it was summer. Not a lot, probably.

The sky was vermilion by now with the sun sinking back into the horizon. It won't be a lot of time until the others file in for dinner. Taylor pushed herself off the table before anyone could come in. She didn't exactly fancy being turned into a dolphin by Mr. D just because she was sitting on a different table. "Almost dinner," Taylor reminded Meira with a smile. "Better get back to my table before the others come."

"Ah, yeah, you're right," Meira said. She waved her hand as Taylor moved back to Khione Cabin's table. Now Meira hated the rules... and Mr. D turning people into dolphins. Time seemed to move too slowly, like Kronos on his what-a-heck trick.

Meira put her elbow to the table and her chin to her palm. "How much more minutes before the sun set, and dinner be here?" she muttered. She stared at the ground, and made a thorn plant grow. Meira started feeling irritated. The thorns started to grow while Meira put her head in her arms.
