Tour Around Camp (Private to Boo)

I walked up the path from the lake, after having talked to Joshua. I had agreed to show him around camp, so this is where we were starting, in the courtyard. I stopped and waited for Josh to catch up to me. "So, this is the courtyard, im sure you can tell that. the cabins surround it, we have one for each of the olympians, as well has Nyx, Hecate, Chione, and the Muses. The cabin of your god parent is where you sleep, if you havent already got a bunk, maybe now would be a good time to go do so. Any Questions so far?" I asked him.

I run up the hill. GOSH he was fast! I narrowly speed up to hear him state the basics, and if I had any questions. "I have one question," I say. "How many campers are here overall?"

"How many campers, its impossible to know for sure, there are always so many coming in and going out. But I would say there can be anywhere from one thousand to five thousand at a time. depending on the time and season. I mean this place is huge, there is so much around here. Of course it has to be in order to accomadate the sheer numbers we have." I told Joshua.

I stare at him blank-eyed. "Five THOUSAND campers? And this camp was founded when, exactly?" I ask, trying not to sound too confused. But still, holy CRAP that was a lot of campers!

"oh sit down, you are going to enjoy this history lesson." I told Josh, rather giddily. "you see before America was even founded, the demi-gods were training and fighting hard. There was a camp in Europe, and at that center was were all the demi-gods from around the nation would travel to do there training. However when Christopher Columbus sailed across the Atlantic Ocean for the first time, in 1942, he wasnt looking for trading partners. He was on mission to find a new land for the gods and demi-gods. Hence he found America, and they colonized on the east coast. While the other demi-gods searched out a suitable place, they travelled all the way to the west coast. They faced much rivalry and many monsters they had never seen before. They set up camp on long island, and this place was founded." I retold the history to Josh. "Though of course back then it was just a few cabins and training rooms, it really has come a long way since 1942." I said, I got up slowly and looked around admiring the courtyard and the camp beyond.

I stare at Zared, my mouth hanging. "Nineteen forty TWO?! And you said about 5K campers were here at a time? That is over a hundred grand!" I exclaim.

"well there wasnt always this many campers. I mean back in the day, the numbers were obviously never as high as they are now. I suppose the gods have been more active recently." I said. I laughed at the last part. "And of course, no we are a lot more advanced then they used to be, we are actually able to gather demi-gods from all over the world, now that we have boats and planes. And our army and weaponry is much more efficient these days. We are pretty much just way more well rounded and advanced, and can accomodate all of it." I explained

"That is true," I say. "But still. Nineteen forty TWO!" I exclaim. What else was cool about this camp.

I looked at Josh, and realized my mistake. "No, not 1942, Columbus came to America in 1492, and thats when the camp was founded, in 1492, not 1942." I explained to him. I sat down on a bench next to the water fountain. I hoped I hadnt confused the kid too much.

My jaw drops. "Since ColUMBUS?" I ask. "Man, this camp is just getting cooler and cooler!" I say. "What next? You have an X-box system?" I joke.

I laughed, "No I dont, most of camp is pretty old fashion, there arent a whole lot of computors or phones, or gaming systems here. Some people do have them though, but I never really got into them. I grew up at camp, and so I have many of the same ideas that they have at camp. Ive hardly ever been out into the real world, only a few times, when I snuck out. But I did pick up a phone at one time." I told Josh. I pulled out my phone and showed it to him. "its only to be used in emergencies, it pretty much sends out a signal telling all the monsters where we are located." I told him.

I loom at the phone, curiously. "AT&T, huh?" I joke. "How does it send a signal? Do they have trackers? Or can they just sense them?"

"well whenever you use it, they can sense it. So thats why it can only be used for emergencies. After that you have to either get out of there fast, or get ready for the fight of your life." I told him. "is there anything else you would like to know before we continue on with our tour?" I asked him

"Not really," I say. "OH, I do have TWO questions. Why was Camp invented?" I ask. "And what happened to Olympus? Did it just crumble, or did it move from place to place?"

"well camp was founded to train demi-gods, and to keep them safe from those who would try to kill them. As for Olympus, it didnt crumble, it just moves location from place to place, wherever the centre of society is at, there also will the gods be." I answered Josh's questions.

"Oh, okay," I reply, intrigued. "Continue," I say, looking for an interesting spot in camp. "Oh, do you guys have any libraries? I love to read."

"Yeah, we have a library, in the camp's common area. Along with the arts house, the armory, the armory, the amphitheatre and the camp store. We could go check that out right now, if you would like." I explained. I stood up, and started walking towards the common area.

"That'd be cool," I say, as I follow him. He is pretty handsome. But alas, he seems to be rejecting me. I mentally sigh, before scheming up ways to get his attention. Pranks, maybe? Nah, he'd think I'm childish. BUT, what if I blame it on someone? That'll work! Unless they do the same to me... Erg. Reluctantly I head to the library with him.
