Hi everyone,

We've been really busy in the Moderator & Administrator place lately. And, since we all agreed that we would be sending a constant flow of information from that forum to this one so everyone knows what's going on, we've decided to make a newspaper of sorts! This is the first issue. Every so often, there will be a new issue from a different member of Staff. So remember to keep a watchful eye on the News & Updates section.

Regardless, you probably are all curious as to what we've been doing backstage. Well, may I present to you the very first issue of the CHB Newspaper!

The past few days have been a little frantic, and the Staff of CHB have been working hard on figuring out what to do. The main thing we've been discussing is what we're going to do to patch up CHB. So far, the things that we have thought of are the:

Forum Improvement Section
The CHB Newspaper
New Infractions for Breaking the Rules
Cleaning Up the Rules

Forum Improvement Section:

To put it simply, this could be a separate forum from the Suggestions forum, to have it be better organized, (since most of the suggestions that members have are generally scattered throughout the Chat, Suggestions, and News & Updates sections) where you guys post things that could possibly make the Forum better.

The CHB Newspaper:

What you're reading right now! Most of you might be confused as to what this is. Allow me to explain. The Staff agreed to supply everyone with a constant flow of information from where the Moderators and Administrators post ideas and have discussions, we created this newspaper of sorts. Each issue, we will provide everyone with new information on what we've been thinking about doing. However, we can't make the decision ourselves (although we did decide this on our own - but that should be self explanatory) — we need your help. If you would like some of the ideas to be implemented, please say so. Sometimes, we will go ahead and put some new stuff out there without asking, but when we do that, it will be something that the majority of the Staff have agreed to (such as this) so please don't be offended if and when we do that.

New Infractions for Breaking the Rules:

Recently, within the past day or so, Crispy posted an idea for a topic that was all about consequences for breaking the Rules. They were extremely reasonable, and we all agreed to them. Therefore, they will be implemented as soon as we have time to put them there.

Cleaning Up the Rules:

This is just tweaking some things with the Rules: cleaning them out, making new topics without posts in them, and things like that. Just so that it will be more organized and easier to read. (:

Just so you know, if you guys have any suggestions or ideas that can't wait, post them here! It could be related to the Forum, to the Newspaper itself, or anything of the sort. I or another member of the staff will edit this post below with the suggestions you have.

Things have been slowing down recently and the staff has just started talking about things. We are beginning to address issues like rule re-writes as well as things such as the organization of the site and some new forums! There are a few things that are going to be put in action, however. Such as...

Cabin Leader Elections
There's been discussion of having cabin leader re-elections for quite some time now and in the very near future, the elections will be held! Expect to find nomination boxes and an announcement with further details sometime soon.

The Battle System
There has also been talk of implementing the battle system suggested by Gazimu and the system will possibly be figured out and up and running before the next battle. If it cannot be up before the battle it will definitely be up afterwards so you won't have to wait too long for either the system or just the battle!

Additional Forums In The "America" Board
These are forums that are more specific about the locations of demigods. It's pretty self-explanatory. The forums will be up and ready to be posted in as soon as their descriptions have been written - which should be relatively soon.

We're also working on improving the rules and figuring out a punishment system, all the while taking your suggestions into account. If you have any ideas related to the rules or any other suggestions feel free to post them in this topic or post your own topic in the "Suggestion Box" forum.
The Forum Improvement forum is in the works. As stated in the previous issue, this is a separate forum for suggestions but at the same time, it's also a place for members to collaborate with staff to talk about expansions on the site and to discuss more concrete suggestions. It's also a place where staff may post and ask for your opinions and input on certain things.

Things have been a little crazy around CHB lately, and everyone is pretty much in a frenzy. The staff has had a lot of things to discuss, and we've been trying to be as frank and unbiased as we can be, even when the topics are difficult to handle. Some of the things you read in Issue No. 3 might be really interesting to you, it might be really boring, and it might be just plain surprising, but it's what we've been discussing. I can't tell you quite yet what exactly is going to happen for sure and what is us just brainstorming, but we've talking about a lot, such as . . .

Staff Terms
We've talked briefly about staff terms. Basically, there is an election each year to decide who will become a member of the staff, moderated by the whoever is a part of the current staff, and the newly elected staff members will take over for the coming year. This idea is very new and would need a lot of planning, so it's very likely it won't even happen, but it has been considered, discussed, and thought through a little bit. This is the most undeveloped topic in Issue 3.

Put quite simply, the staff basically serves in terms like the president, congress, cabinet, etc. When it comes time to vote, members can nominate others to be up for election. Any member can be nominated, even if they are currently in the staff, but current Admins can be chosen to just be Mods, and vise versa. I hope this was a little clearer!

Plot Advancing
We've received countless quandaries about our current state of time. We're in the BotL stage of Percy Jackson, and we haven't done much about it except have battles. In order to move on, we would need our canons to start roleplaying the BotL. This is what has been discussed, and it will happen, but when is a mystery.

Do you have a character who isn't a canon? Then there is more fun waiting for them at camp. Once the roleplaying starts, we will set up topics in the Half-Blood Council Room where your demigods can watch the quest happen, almost exactly like the Hunger Games. The campers back at home shouldn't miss what's happening to their beloved canons! This goes for the canons who aren't a part of the quest, as well.

Reputation
Most members on the site feel hurt when their post is voted down. Posts are also voted up so frequently now that it has lost it's "specialness." We don't want any members to feel like this, and since the Reputation System doesn't serve much purpose, we've talked about taking it down. The way things are going now, you will likely have to say good-bye to your reputation system, but hello to clean slates!

Conduct and Treatment of Others
As a staff, we haven't been behaving the best lately, and as a site we haven't been getting along very well. You can tell that tensions just arose and boiled over, and that some people hurt others' feelings without the intention of doing so. I myself have been quite rude to people who didn't deserve this. Mostly we've just discussed handing out warnings, warned those who behaved in a wrong manner, including the staff members who behaved poorly, and moved on. This topic is very self explanatory. For more detail, please see Dan's topic! Everything he says rings true. Thanks for bearing with us through this stressful time!

Minor Gods Cabins
This was loosely discussed. It's pretty self explanatory as well, which is always good! Basically, we've noticed an increase in certain Minor Gods children and might be adding new cabins! Yay! New cabins are fun, and we haven't added any in a while. Angel's idea was the add an Air God cabin containing children of the following gods, blah blah blah, a Sea God cabin containing children of the following gods, blah blah blah, etc. Make since? This could be added at any time, and discussion of these cabins has slowed what with increase and demand for new topics to be gone over!
