--"What's so good about mornings?" {O P E N}--

Still buried under a lump of covers, a young girl slept soundly, yet was snoring loudly. Brook Firebird wasn't the prettiest, nor the nicest girl in camp. She was sunburnt on her shoulders, yet still loved to go in the sun. Her hair was ratty and she looked like an angry bear just woken up from hibernation! She had missed breakfast, but had slept in her clothing so it looked like she had gotten dressed. All she needed was a good brushing of the hair and she could go to lunch. Mumbling in her sleep, she bolted upright as a horn sounded. It was lunch! Scrambling out of bed, Brook got a brush from her bag and brushed her hair, yelping at every snarl she encountered, she shook her head and put on her best happy face. Her yellow flip flops with the suns on the soles were already on her feet as Brook ran out of the door.

"I gotta hurry if I need to get the best food!" Brook uttered to herself, dodging the campers escorting the little ones around. She was never going to make it there on time! Cursing in Greek, Brook took a deep breath and sprinted to the mess hall. That is, until she tripped over a tree stump and landed on a boy her age. Brook's face turned bright red and she rolled over off of the boy. Wasn't he her... Half-Brother? Blonde hair, a strange glow coming from him? He must've been an Apollo camper!

I was just walking around the camp. I had just gotten done eating my lunch at the mess hall. After a few minutes I was walking out of the mess hall and tumbled into someone. "Ah! Sorry about that! I wasn't looking." I said trying to help the person up. When I realized who it was it was my half-sister. Brook Firebird. "Hey! I saw you sleeping this morning. Man you slept like a log. I made so much noise this morning and I didn't even see you flinch." I said. After few both got organized I asked Brook,"So... why are such in a big hurry?"

I strolled out of the mess hall, only to stop when I heard a loud thunk. I stopped, looking around for a moment before my eyes settled on a mess of limbs on the ground. I looked a little closer, only to start laughing. Two of my half siblings were sprawled out on the ground.
"What on earth are you two doing down there?" I asked in between laughs.

I looked up and found my half-sister looking down at us laughing. "Well, Alyss can you help me up please?" I asked in a innocent voice. I smiled. When Alyss extended her hand towards me I grabbed it and yanked her down. "Hehe, now look at you. What on earth are you doing down there Alyss?" I asked with a grin. I slowly got up and helped the other two up. "What are you doing in such a hurry Brook?" I asked.

Brook shook her head and got up to her feet. She knew all of there people, but it was no time for a "Hello" conversation. "I needed to get the freshest food!" Brook said, not quietly. Looking back at the siblings, Brook rushed to the Mess hall, tripping over a rock as she got up. Falling on her face, she groaned and rolled onto her back. She was not having a good day!

I looked to see Brook run off to the Mess Hall, but fall down again. "Hey!" I yelled. I watched as Brooke fell down once more. I sprinted over by her and tried to help her up. When she gotten up I noticed she had a scab on her knee. "Hey Brook, you mind if I take a look at your knee? It looks pretty bad.." I said.

Barely in tears, Brook sat up and looked at her knee. It was pretty bloody. Not that she didn't like blood, she looked away and nodded, closing her eyes. She should have gotten up slower. Headrushes always make her clumsy. "Yeah, sure, whatever. Heal it or do something magical that you powerful Apollo kids can do," Brook uttered, not caring a bit that she lacked the special power of telling the future, or healing people.

I felt a tingle of anger in her voice. Added with annoyance. I stopped. "Are you okay?.. maybe I should just leave you alone.." I said backing away from her. "I hope you didn't forget that your just like us Apollo kids... Brook." I muttered. I turned around and walked away and left Brook sitting down on a stomp with her knee bleeding.

Brook could feel the already 80 degree air grow warmer. She was starting to break out into a sweat. She tended to make the sun shine brighter if she was angry, and cause it to be much more hot than it normally is."Just like you guys? I'm Apollo's GRANDCHILD! I don't have any special powers! I can't heal, I can't sing, I can't do any of that horse dung you other kids can do!" The sun began to shine brighter and it was beating down on Brook hard.

How could those kids leave her be to heal her own wounds? She couldn't heal herself, nor sing, or write beautiful poetry and predict the future! All she could do was control the tempertaure! It wasn't like she could do any magic! "Some kids just get all the luck! I was born in Apollo's palace, yet I don't have any frickin' powers!" Brook shouted, trying not to cry from the pain.

"Brook? What's going on?" I asked, walking over. "You've hurt your knee again." I said with a sigh. I plopped down next to the girl, squinting to look at her in the bright sun. "Brook? What happened? You look like your about to cry." I said, picking a piece of grass off the girl's shirt.
