Sword Practice

I walk down to the arena, Whirlwind in hand. I had crafted the double-bladed beauty myself. I started hacking at the straw dummies, stabbing one in the heart and beheading another. I hoped someone would come down for practice soon. Dummies aren't exactly the best fighters.

With nothing else to do and not having met anyone yet, I decided to head down to the arena. I was decent at fighting, but I knew that I would have to train a lot harder to meet par here. I entered the arena hoping for it to be empty, but there was already a girl with short black hair was stabbing dummies like there was no tomorrow. I turned to leave.

I noticed a boy walk in and leave. Talk about a loner. I guess he's new because I don't recognize him after 12 years.

I walk in, go to a dummy opposite the girl that's already in here, and slash it to bits. This is so much easier than out in the real world. These people have no idea what it's like.

On my way back to the Zeus cabin, I mentally smack myself. What was I thinking ? I couldn't let my shyness get in the way of what was really important. I turned around and marched briskly into the sword arena.

I come into the arena and notice two people there, fighting dummies. I wait for someone to come so I can fight them. I'm in the mood for some one-on-one combat.

I see another girl enter the arena just after me. She looks friendly enough, so I brace myself, walk over and say "Hi, I'm Etienne. Want to spar ?"

"Sure, I'd love to," I smile. "Ready?" I say. I thrust my sword forward, not waiting for his reply.

"Uhm . . . sure !" I stumble. I wasn't expecting her to be this excited. I pressed a button on my watch and Aegina spiraled out towards my opponent. I realized that I still didn't know her name. In my other hand I held my sword, Lightning.

I jump back as his sheild spirals out, but I'm sure I have the advantage in this fight. He may be large and muscular, but I'm small and quick. Plus, he's weighed down by his shield, and I only have my sword, Waterfall. I run around and attempt to stab at his back.

The girl tries to get me from behind, but I'm too quick for her. She might be smaller and faster, but I have the advantage of my shield. I spin around and push Aegina in her face, at the same time attempting to disarm her with Lightning.

I see a new girl slashing dummies opposite to me. As I stab one in the chest, I say, "Hey, are you new?" Even though I already know she is. I've been here 12 years, for crying out loud!

Hmm, getting crafty. I jump back again. I have to play defense, which is kind of unfair, because he's the one with the shield. I glance at the water cooler and decide to save my powers for when it's really desperate. I twirl around and slash at his arm. "By the way, I'm Andromeda, but you can call me Andy," I say.

I parry Andy's strike, gaining a bit of confidence now. I wonder who's kid she is and what sort of powers she has. She's most likely saving them for later in the fight, that's when I'll probably start using Lightning's power. I roll around Andy and strike at her legs.

I jump, but Etienne's sword grazes my leg. I wince but keep going, whirling around Etienne, looking for a weak spot. I take a stab at the back of his legs as his back is turned, still moving quickly.

My selective hearing works up and I suddenly can't hear the girl yelling at me from across the arena.

I spun around, ready to attack again, but I felt a searing pain run through my leg. I was about to collapse, but with my remaining strength I attempted to knock Andy's sword out of her hand, shoving Aegina into her face at the same time.

I hate it when people ignore me, which this girl is obviously doing. After cutting a dummy down the leg and then slashing across their lower abdomen, I walk over to the girl and say, "Look, do you want to fight?"

With my sword out of reach and a shield pushed up against my face, I decide it's time to use my powers. I scramble over to the water cooler and dip my hand in the ice-cold water. I feel rejuvenated, and the scrape on my leg heals. The water swirls around me, in an sort of aqua-tornado.

I ignore the girl again this time, but it's not on purpose. I'm staring at the girl with the water. "Whoa..." I breathe.

I see the new girl staring at Andy. "Oh, that's Andromeda. She's a daughter of Poseidon. Loves to show off."

Andy starts doing some weird stuff with the water from the cooler, and I'm pretty sure she's a daughter of Poseidon. I summon all my strength and scramble over to her. I grab Lightning and summon it's power. I touch my sword to her ankle, which should send some electricity into her body.

OOC: I said attempted to knock, it was up to her whether or not it ended up being knocked out.
