Ty awoke to the sound of blood curdling screams, piercing his ears like needles, which caused him to sit straight up in bed. It was only after he rubbed the sleep from his stone grey eyes and regained his senses, that he realized that they were his own screams, and he was glad, as he was always glad, that the children’s rooms were far away. Tiberius couldn’t remember a day this past month where he hadn’t had nightmares that clung to his memory like the scratchy side of velcro. They hurt his brain and his heart, making him go insane with hurt. Of course, he didn’t tell anybody about this, not even Quinn. Tibs was becoming more and more reclusive, the way he had been before he’d come to camp. Not surprisingly, the demigod was okay with this. He didn’t need anyone to look out for him or care for him or even worry about him. Those things were for mothers, and Tiberius had a mother back in New York; Lucy. How could he not consider her his mother? Never once, save for when he was little and could barely hold a memory in his brain, could Ty remember Aphrodite doing anything motherly. It was always Lucy. Lucy was his mother, and also the only person he’d tell about his nightmares, but Tibs would never even tell her, because that was a sign of weakness, and demigods and sons were not ever allowed to show weakness. So Tiberius rubbed his face, which was still relaxed with sleep, and stumbled into his bathroom, his graceful and light steps invisible to the world for the time being.

The demigod looked into the mirror and was almost disgusted with himself. Never before had Ty ever cared about what he looked like or how he acted, but coming to camp had changed that. Coming to camp had changed a lot of things, actually. More and more and more, Tiberius was beginning to feel the weight of his godly mother’s birthright. No longer did he not care about his appearance, no matter how many times he had denied it over the course of the past few months. Now, looking into the reflective glass, Ty saw just how much the nightmares were taking their toll. Dark purple shadows, the color of ripe plums and eggplant, were mixed in with that of smoke grey, and together they made for prominent circles and bags under his once twinkling eyes, which were about as dull and lifeless as a gravestone that had been neglected for many years. The boy could hardly ever fall asleep these days because of the nightmares that haunted him like ghosts. So yes, there was going to be some consequences when it came to his youthful beauty. Ty’s lips were cracked and chapped, the result of biting them in his sleep. His black feathered hair hung carelessly in his eyes, and Ty took a moment to style it into a quiff. Before he could find anymore imperfections about himself, Tiberius walked out of the bathroom.

Then there was another problem that Tibs was presented with; Should he actually care about what he wore today? He shook his head and examined what he already had on. Usually, he just slept with boxers and a white cotton T-shirt on, but lately the nightmares were becoming a bit too much for the sensitive boy, and so he’d worn a sweater to bed. Wearing sweaters in the middle of summer was crazy, and Tiberius knew it was crazy, but holding the fabric in between his hands and sniffing the lavender detergent he always used ever since he was 7 had never once failed to bring him comfort. The sweater that Ty wore was 3 shades of grey with black and white mixed in, like salt and pepper. So, deciding that was good enough even though it was the middle of summer and probably 100 degrees out, Ty called it good and slipped on some dress shoes and slacks before heading to the mess  hall for breakfast.

Once there, Tibs loaded up on oatmeal and toast. He was a sucker for carbs, but the oatmeal had cantaloupe, honeydew, grapes, and apples in it, so he considered it good enough. Nowadays, the bird like boy, so shy and sensitive in his ways of antisocialness, barely ate. It wasn’t cause he didn’t want too, it was just because he forgot. Ty had more important things to do than eat. After all, he did hold the position of cabin leader for the Aphrodite children. His stomach rumbled and then he ate, although very slowly. Tiberius was still not totally awake, and probably wouldn’t be for the next hour or so. Ty couldn’t even recall the nightmare now, it his faded from his memory, but he knew it was horrible. The ones that he could remember were usually all the same. A person Tibs cared about- usually Lottie or Quinn -had been captured by Kronos’ croons, and were slowly dying as a result of Ty’s stupidness. It made him insane, the nightmares. It also made him have a major case of insomnia, and when Tiberius did sleep it was out of pure exhaustion. Thinking about the horrible dreams made Ty stop eating his breakfast and put his hands in his folded arms, groaning, not caring if anybody saw or heard him.

ooc- awh ty you poor demented baby let me hug you and kiss you and make all your mental scares go bye-bye.

Daisy had woken up early in the morning. She had stretched and gotten dressed in a matter of minutes. She had dressed in an outfit that she had randomly grabbed; a pair of high waisted shorts, a daisy tank top, a pair of converse, and a daisy crown. She always had a fetish for daisies considering it was her name and she loved to plant.

That was Daisy's plan for the day.  To plant flowers all around camp and maybe a park nearby. She always loved to go outside and plant. It made her take her mind off of things. She had thought being cabin leader would be hard, but it really wasn't. She just made sure the cabin was in order, go to a few cabin leader meetings, and that was it. She actually liked being cabin leader. She liked being the leader, being in control. It gave her a sense of responsibility that made her fell older. More responsible. She wasn't always the giggly Daisy from cabin four.

Daisy skipped toward the Mess Hall to grab a quick breakfast before she started her day of planting. She put some toast and eggs on her plate. She started walking to the Demeter table, before seeing a lonely person at a table. Daisy had made it her job to always talk to a lonely person. It gave her a warm feeling inside, warmer then the sun, that she enjoyed. It felt nice to help someone or talk someone every once in awhile. She loved to make new friends and made them all the time.

Daisy slid in the seat next to the lonely boy, and jumped when he groaned. "I'm sorry, but your Terrence? No wait it's Tiberius!" She practically yelled with joy since she got his name right. Her hand quickly went to her mouth to cover it because of loud she was. "Uhh sorry." She said, her face immediately turning red. "I'm Daisy." She said and put it out for him to shake it.

Daisy looked at her plate before scooping some eggs onto her toast and taking a bite. She swallowed and looked at Tiberius's plate and frowned."That's all you eating? It's okay. I'm not that hungry either sometimes." The girl said, trying to make some conversation with him and took another bite of her toast.

Tiberius Bradley Winters preferred to be alone out of everything else in the world. There was only one person he’d even consider being with right now, and she wasn’t anywhere to be found. So the depressed boy stabbed at his pale oatmeal, which had the colour and consistency of quicksand in the shaded jungle. It wasn’t very appeasing, which was okay considering that Ty wasn’t even that hungry to begin with, even though he thought that he was. He didn’t know what he needed right now, but it certainly wasn’t food. His head was still in his arm, the other limb stirring the ever cooling breakfast he had no desire to eat. Tibs thought about giving it to Aphrodite as an offering, but he didn’t think his mother would enjoy cold oatmeal for breakfast. He was still tired, still sluggish like a sloth, and still as antisocial as ever. Tiberius would never fit in with any crowd at camp. He was too smart for the nerds, too dumb for the jocks, too clumsy for the artists, and too clueless for the populars. Quinn had tried to get Ty to hang out with her friends, but the demigod lost his nerve and ran away like a chicken with his head cut off. So Tibs was a league all his own, which was fine with him because he’d been alone since birth. What made camp so different? Also, being alone meant you didn’t have to do anything you didn’t want to. No stupid haircuts, no heroics. Ty had a wonderful day planned of wallowing in self-pity, with a game of chess with himself as an opponent at two and a nap at four, followed by reading Oscar Wilde until lights out. It was a great day, as that was what he did everyday. Yes, Tiberius was a predictable boy, as he kept reading The Picture of Dorian Grey over and over again, memorising every keystroke and thoughts inside those pages. And just like every other day, Tiberius didn’t eat his breakfast, merely stared at it like there was something wrong with it, like perhaps an eyeball was in the middle, or someone had dyed it purple as a prank. The toast and oatmeal were perfectly normal and sane, it was Tibs that had changed. He rubbed his eyes and yawned for what seemed like the thousandth time this morning when a girl walked over. Tiberius vaguely remembered her at the cabin leader meetings, although they had never formally met because Ty always talked to Quinn and made alliances with her. Everyone else was collateral damage that he could care less about. Apparently this girl, with her flowery looks and happy attitude, didn’t care that Tiberius was like a cat that could rip your eyes out in less than a second, and it almost made Ty smile. Almost. The memory of nightmares still clung to him like wet clothes on skin, turning his straight lined mouth into a frown of worry and fear. This happened a lot, remembering. She said his name, then covered her mouth as her face turned the colour of a ripe tomato. Tibs was reminded of his sister, Charlotte, who was always so happy and bubbly, no matter the circumstances. She always found the sliver lining to an otherwise grey cloud, and Tibs admired her for that. He tried being more like Charlotte, but it wasn’t working. “Lottie, go-“ Tiberius began to say, but then realised that he was no longer with his little sister, and that the girl who was sitting next to him with her eggs and toast was nothing like her, and that her name was Daisy like the flowers she wore on her tank top. Almost immediately his face turned almost the exact shade of red as a curtain in a theatre. “I, uh, I apologise.” Ty said, looking at his food and not at Daisy. If she were Quinn he’d look her straight in the eyes and say something stupid and lame to get her to laugh. But Quinn Taylors was not around, and Tiberius wasn’t the euphoric boy that he was around her. Right now he was scared and afraid and alone, tortured by his own thoughts. “I realise you’re not my little sister and I…” Tibs trailed off, not wanting to go into detail. He didn’t even know Daisy, let alone trust her. How did he know she wasn’t going to tell all her little friends or shout it to all the cabin leaders at their next meeting? Absentmindedly he scratched at the pale skin that wasn’t covered by the peppery sweater, taking note at how imperfect his hands were. They were covered with scars and burns and were hopelessly dry like a desert. Tibs would have to put lotion on them soon enough. “Mmm, not hungry. I suppose you could say that.” He said to Daisy. Tiberius couldn’t say he enjoyed the company, because he didn’t. He wanted to be left alone for the remainder of the morning. Of course, Ty still had to be courteous to the other cabin leader, because if he wasn’t he would be going against all he had been taught as a child. The voice of Bradley Winters, Tibs’ father, came to the forefront of the boys mind. Always make pleasant conversation, Tiberius. Use your vocabulary, boy, god gave you a mouth and a brain for a reason, use them. Stop rolling your eyes at me! Don’t talk in french, people can’t understand you.  The thought of his father really wasn’t helping at the moment. Ty had never really thought that his father was exactly strict and mean until he had actually come to camp and saw how other kids were raised by their parents. You could almost consider Bradley abusive, if not for the lack of bruises on his mind and skin. Even though his stomach protested, Ty shovelled a spoonful of oatmeal in his mouth just so he didn’t have to talk to Daisy. She was probably a nice girl. He counted on her being nice, because he didn’t think he could handle another slew of taunts and teases. The food slid down his throat like it was made out of rubber, and it was hard to swallow. Finally, after a period of silence that seemed like seconds to Ty even though it was more likely minutes, he looked at Daisy. She looked nothing like Charlotte, so he didn’t know why he called her by his sisters name. Probably because he just had a nightmare about her being killed, and he just needed reassurance that Lottie was alive and well and out of evil’s clutches. Tiberius took the demigods hand and shook it half heartedly. “Nice to meet your acquaintance, Daisy.” As he retracted his elbow, Ty clumsily stuck his sweater into thick, gloppy, cold, and sticky oatmeal. “Merde,” Tibs cursed in french, annoyed as he took out his arm, and looked at the ceiling as if he thought it was all Aphrodite’s fault. “Really?” He turned to Daisy, almost smiling out of humiliation, embarrassment, and misery. “Remarkable way to start off your morning, huh?” Tiberius mumbled, and fed up with how this day was already going, threw his spoon into the bowl with a loud clang.

Daisy gave him a puzzled look. Lottie? She tried to think of someone with that name. Maybe that blonde girl he always hung out with at the cabin leader meetings. What was her name? She thought her name was Quinn. That name was no where near close to Lottie. She wanted to ask who she was being the curious girl she was, but held back. He seemed in a depressed mood and she didn't want to seem pushy. She had met tons of people like him before especially in camp. She had always tried to keep their minds off things, but that never seemed to work.

"It's okay I understand. I miss my younger brothers sometimes too." Daisy replied with a smile. She remembered her younger brothers. Kenny, Anthony, and A.J. She missed them so much. She hadn't seen them in awhile. The only thing she could remember them by is a few pictures of them together and a few letter they had written to her. The boys were different on the outside, but they were all the same in the inside. She remembered their mischievous little grins, the grins she used to love. Used. That was a weird word. Like they were gone. They were to her since she never got to see them anymore.

Daisy finished eating her breakfast. She wanted to avoid any thoughts of her brothers and her father. Now she understood why he was in a depressed state. Or thinks. She wasn't a hundred percent sure though. He could be upset about other things. Or he was just in a bad mood. No matter what, she was going to lift his spirits up. That's what Daisy did. Helped lonely people, lifted people's spirits up. It was her duty along with being cabin leader.

Daisy saw him put his elbow in his oatmeal. She had quickly went to go get napkins. On her way back to the table, she jumped at a loud noise. She quickly returned to the table with napkins and gave them to him with a kind smile.

tiberius winters - - - - -

Tiberius smiled sadly at Daisy’s comment. “I do not so much miss her as I am worried about her. I am worried about all of my siblings.” Their family, stable and mostly happy, wasn’t completely normal. Bradley had trained the children to be perfect ladies and gentlemen, and the older you got, the worse the training became and the harsher he was. Ty had gotten out of their (or rather, kidnapped) just as the worse was getting so bad. At the time, he hadn’t realised what his father had been doing to him, but he’d soon realised the error of his ways. Although Bradley wasn’t abusive, he was extremely strict and close-minded to most things, and Tibs was too, however his strictness came from love. His fathers came from the need to control something, anything. “Don’t get me wrong, I do long to see my sister again.” Ty added, familiar coldness slipping into his voice. Daisy hadn’t done anything wrong, he just didn’t know how to act around strangers, and it usually ended in disaster. See, the chess loving boy wasn’t the most social butterfly of his family. Believe it or not, the title didn’t go to Charlotte either. It belonged to the youngest girl in the Winters clan; Eponine. Tibs was jealous of his seven year old sister because she was able to make friends so easily and he hated that he had so much trouble gaining one.

The two sat in silence as Daisy finished her breakfast and Tiberius just sitting there, reliving his nightmares over and over again. Gods he tried to stop, but his will was weak and his memory stronger than most. “I’m not depressed, if that’s what you’re thinking.” Ty said, sighing as he did so because he didn’t know why he was making conversation. “Nightmares, that’s all.” He didn’t expect the girl to have any, as she seemed so young and innocent. Everyone had them as a child, but after a certain age they went away until something really traumatising happened to you. Well, Tibs had lots of bad things happen to him, and so it was only natural that he have nightmares to show for it. They took time getting used to, but the boy thought he was doing a good job at not showing how much they bothered him until now.

When he dipped his elbow in oatmeal, Daisy brought him napkins, and Ty took them gratefully. “Thank you.” He mumbled as he wiped the gloppy wheat off of his sweater. This was one of his favourites, and he wasn’t happy about getting it dirty. “I’m clumsy most of the time. Also an idiot, because only an idiot would put his bowl right next to his elbow.” With that, Tibs got up and put his bowl away, thinking about leaving. Daisy must think him awfully stupid and foolish, and he wouldn’t blame her if she did because he was. But she had been kind to him, and he ought to stay with her if she needed company. So he went back to the table and sat down, picking at his damp and odd coloured sleeve.

Daisy's eyebrows went up when he said all of his siblings. How many siblings did he have? She only had three, the triplets. A.J., Anthony, and Kenny. She missed them a lot. She had a few pictures of them in her bedroom, but other then that, she didn't have much to remember them. And of course, she also missed her dad. They did everything together, and now they didn't. It upsetted her that she couldn't wake up to see her dad anymore. She couldn't wake up to see the triplets jumping on her bed. She also did miss her step-mom, but she was long gone and she couldn't do much. She had cried for a while after she found her step-mother dead. Because of her. That's what made it worse. She was the one who caused it. That's why she hated being a demigod. Someone she loved had died. It felt like she had killed her herself, but she tried to convince herself it wasn't her fault. "I know how you feel. I miss my brothers. How many siblings do you have though?" She asked curiously.

Daisy finished the rest of her breakfast. She stopped and turned bright red when he said what she was thinking. "Depressed? I didn't think you were depressed. I just thought you were um upset." She answered after finishing chewing what was in her mouth. Nightmares? That was it? She had expected something more upsetting. Like someone dying his family. She could've helped with that. Nightmares though, she wasn't sure if she could help. She could help get his mind off of things. "Nightmares. Oh I get those all the time." She said partially lying. She did get nightmares, but not recently thankfully. She had been so busy with cabin leader things, she didn't have time to think about bad things.

"You're welcome." She responded, with a bright smile. Daisy moved his bowl forward so he wouldn't put his elbow in it again. She didn't really like oatmeal. It tasted bland to her no matter how much brown sugar she put in it. The only thing she did like to eat was eggs and toast like she was eating right now. "It's okay. I can get clumsy too." She said. She picked up her dish and cup and put it away. She sat back down next to him and smiled. She had an idea. "Hey Tiberius, I'm going off campus. Do you want to come?" She asked, a hopeful smile on her face.
