Lounging in the warm atmosphere of the library, Faye had her feet kicked up on a coffee table, inhaling the smell of apple cider. The drink was still steaming hot as she set it on the side table beside her, taking her book back into her hands. The demigod had been reading about Roman techniques all day, just for fun. She found the way the Romans conducted themselves interesting, and almost more ideal, if it's class system hadn't been one - sided.

Flipping through the pages of a fresh book, this one about Julius Caeser, and continued absorbing it's facts. This wasn't uncommon for Faye this time of year, books were often more interesting compared to people, who were either throwing snow at you or rushing out of the cold. Books on the other hand were more concrete and stable, which was nice for the girl who kept flashing back into past memories.

Her ballet flats were dripping water from the snow she had walked through to get here, forming a small puddle on the carpet. The sound was bothering her, taking away from the realm of her book. Faye shifted in her seat, trying to make herself more comfortable, so she could fall into a soft daze for a while. Unfortunately, as the minutes passed, she couldn't concentrate any longer.

Sitting upright, the girl sipped at her cider until her tongue was numb from the heat. Glancing around the room, she spotted a familial face among the shelves. "Liv, how are you?" Faye asked, a soft smile forming on her lips. The demigod hadn't talked to her half-sister often, and felt somewhat disconnected from her friend. "I haven't seen you in a while."

Livia,

Livia had been reading all day. She didn’t want to go out into the cold that bit at her skin, nipping her ‘till the tips of her ears were red and coated in frost. Livia never dressed appropriately, even now, and she was wearing only a beanie and a tee-shirt. The girl regretted this, and she shivered every time the door to the library opened. Livia was thankful that they had installed a set of double doors, so that it was not so cold anymore, but the Long Island winters often got very cold (especially so close to the ocean).

She had been reading all her problems away. Like it was a long time ago, reading had become Livia’s escape. She had found in the last couple of years since she got to camp that she didn’t need to escape from her world, so she didn’t. Livia barely read for two years, but now she was going through a book a day. Books were constantly there to remind her that other people probably had a worse life. And subconsciously, it was a consistent reminder of how much her life resembled a fairy tale.

She could’ve gone on reading in her corner all day and probably well into the night, but she was interrupted by Faye’s gentle words. Livia did not even have to look up to recognize her friend’s voice.  Faye seemed so much better, and Livia was glad to hear her gentle voice sounds so optimistic. The ZA seemed to have brought them apart, and Livia missed hanging out with her sister. ”Neither have I.” Livia said, avoiding Faye’s question. Seeing the mug of cider on the table, Livia reached out and took a sip. It was just one little act, but Livia could feel a smile on her face. That was the most child-like thing Livia had done in months.

Trying her best to smile, Faye noticed something wasn't quite right with Livia. The Zombie Apocalypse had drastically changed everyone, but it seemed even more obvious now, afterwards. The girl hadn't really asked her half-sister how she had been recently, the subject still seemed to close and too open. No one wanted to talk about it anyways, the death was still too fresh in everyone's mind. At least it was in Faye's.

She didn't speak up when Liv avoided her question, deciding not to pry. Some things were better left unsaid, at least that is what Faye told herself every time she considered talking to her friend. The Athenian knew that people when through stages of grieving differently, and no one should be rushed to discuss traumatic events. Oh yes, Faye knew about traumatic events. Ever since the apocalypse ended, she still felt like she lived it over and over again in her dreams. Rotten luck really, but she hadn't told anyone about it, other than her nurse.

Not knowing what was going on in Liv's head normally led her to avoiding harsh topics, such as the tragedy of the Zombie Apocalypse. "I hope you're feeling well," she added, grey eyes flicking up towards her face. Faye meant what she said, smiling as Livia took a sip from her apple cider. "Hey now, I waited a good twenty minutes for that to cool!" Faye exclaimed with a laugh. As she set her book to the side, the girl wondered if Liv would take that literally. "But, I don't think I was going to drink much more of it anyways, have it."
