I was sitting on the bank of the creek, dipping my feet in the water. I was worried about Alex. the last time I saw her, she was in the Infirmary, and I had kissed her. It had been awhile, and I hadn't heard anything.

I hoped I would see her soon. Was she better? Or was her arm paralyzed or something? I hated thoughts like that, but there was no way to avoid them. "Alex," I whispered aloud. "Where are you?"

Alex snuck up behind Kade and pinched him on the cheek before sitting down right beside him. A wide smile lit up Alex's face, and there wasn't even anything in her appearance that would cause people to think that she had ended up in the infirmary before. In other words, she was fully healed. Alex pulled off her sandals and dipped her feet in the water like Kade had done.

"Did you expect the creek to answer you or were you hoping for a dramatic effect?" Alex asked teasingly. "For one moment it looked like a scene from a movie of some sort."

Alex gave Kade a once over and saw that his outfit was very familiar. "Why so formal?" she asked, referring to his clothes.

I laughed, and looked at Alex, hoping that I wasn't dreaming. "I guess I hope too much. But I guess it was enough. Cause now you're here!" I smiled widely, and gave Alex a huge hug. "Really missed ya!" I said with a laugh in my voice.

Alex laughed as Kade drew her in for a hug. She leaned into his shoulder a bit. "Missed you too! Do you even know how boring it can get it in the infirmary? All you do is just watch those Apollo healers do their healing thingy and... yeah, you get sick of seeing only that for days."

Alex pulled away, smiling at him. She realized that she still talked too much. Ah well, that was Alex for you. She wasn't going to change that habit anytime soon anyway. "So what'd I miss?"

I leaned back on my elbows, and looked out at the water. "Nothing. It's been pretty slow lately," I said. "And I guess I wouldn't know what it was like in the Infirmary. I'd never real;y gotten too badly hurt to find out." But that won't last long, I say to myself.

Alex laughed. "Glad to know. I don't recommend the experience."

The daughter of Zeus let her fingers run across the surface of the water. The creek wasn't deep, thankfully. Alex estimated it to reach up to her waist or so. "I can't swim for my life," Alex blurted out suddenly, her thoughts changing into words. She smiled widely as memories ran through her mind. "Maybe it's just me, but I don't really like being in the water too much. People told me it's a child of Zeus thing, but I digress. Swimming is just not my thing."

I laughed and ran a hand through my hair. Her randomness was cute. "Yeah. I never saw the point of swimming. Of course, I was too busy being a singer," I say with a smirk. I didn't like to remember my days as a singer, but some parts of it were good. Like being in front of an adoring crowd. It was invigorating, and exciting.

"Well, swimming really could help if you end up thrown into some deep water for some reason," Alex said, chuckling as she did. "Like, it could really help you not drown. I guess that's the point. Better hope that I don't get chucked into the middle of the ocean or else I'm doomed."

Alex started to swing her legs back and forth underwater just for something to do. She turned to Kade, smiling. "You should really get back to your singing career. I'm sure it'll be a blast."

And... what would I do about you?" I said sadly, looking in her eyes. "You couldn't come with, there would be too many monsters. And what would you do without me?" I smirked, and turned my head back to the water thoughtfully.

"Monsters are easy. You're a great fighter. I'm sure you know that, with your swords and all."

Alex laughed. "Everything has good and bad memories with them. You can't change that. Like our first date," Alex playfully shoved Kade on the shoulder.

However, she frowned at Kade's last statement. She didn't know if he was kidding or not, but she took it completely the wrong way. Did he imply that she would be doomed without him? That she was completely dependent on him? Alex's moods had always been quick to change at the smallest details, and this was one of those times. And you know how Alex's mouth becomes uncontrollable when she gets into one of her snappy moods?

"Wait a sec. Kade, we had one date. Don't act like I'd be completely useless without you. I mean, I like you and all, but it has just been a short time," Alex said, her mouth in a thin line. She sighed, turning to Kade before she spoke.

"I don't want to stand between you and your dreams."

I looked at Alex, suprised. "Alex... I-I didn't mean to upset you," I said softly. This was one of those awkward moments that brought back thoughts of the past. And not the good kind.

I thought of little Timothy, and sighed sadly. I shook my head, and looked out at the water. I dragged my hand through the water, watching my hand distort the water flow. "You can't stand in the way of my dreams," I said, more to myself. "I don't have any dreams. At least, not ones that can come true."

Alex sighed, realizing what she had just said. She took a few deep breaths to get a grip on herself. "Sorry, it just... slipped out."

Alex let herself simmer down as she watched her reflection on the creek distort when Kade ran his hand through the water. She fiddled the camera hanging around her neck, running her fingers through the buttons. What Kade said made her think about her own dream of being a professional photographer and have her own studio. She was nowhere close to making that dream come true, seeing as monsters practically stalk her when she was outside camp. But Alex didn't lose hope. She tightened her grip on her camera. Someday, she was going to make that dream into her reality.

"Why, what are your dreams?" Alex asked suddenly, keeping her gaze on the water.

My whole family had died, of course, except for my mother. But I especially missed my little brother, Timothy. I had to leave him in a home when I became a singer, so I could make money for us. But then he was hit by a car.

Alex caught her breath. That wasn't an answer she was expecting. She anticipated something like being an international singer. She was rendered momentarily speechless, a rare scenario.

"Well, that's just--" Alex cut off, stopping herself before she could say 'depressing.' She didn't think it would be the best way to respond to that kind of revelation. But then, the silence was killing her, so Alex decided to steer the conversation away from these kinds of waters. "Any other dreams than that?"

Okay, maybe that wasn't the best ice breaker. Alex may be talkative, but sometimes she just didn't know the right things to say in a specific situation.

Alex's eyes lit up, her snappy mood from earlier almost fading now. She pulled her feet from the water, settling on hugging her legs to her chest.

"Yes, I really do," she said, nodding. "Unless you're considering being stuck in this camp forever. You were a singer once, why not do it again? I know, I know, because of that... disaster. But hey, that was before you got to camp and before you learned how to fight. Maybe it will be different now that you're great with your swords."

Alex sighed, resting her head on her knees. "Well, what's life without a little adventure anyway?" she asked, grinning slightly.

I nodded. I knew she was right, but I still had some major doubts. What if too much greif came in, and i gave up again, but I'd be even more of a wreck. Alex looked up, shifting her attention to the clear blue sky above. Just looking at it made her feel comfortable. Maybe it had something to do with being the daughter of the god of the skies. "But if he really doesn't, then find another agent. You've been a sensation once. It isn't going to be that hard to find a manager."

Smiling, Alex turned to look at him. "You'll never know what will happen if you'll never try."

Alex gave him a small smile before turning her attention back to the creek. The flowing water distracted her for a few moments. It didn't seem like Kade was going to say anything, she noted, and before the silence became unbearable, Alex spoke again.

"I really miss going outside. As in, without any Greek mythology stuff stalking me. Just hanging out with friends, shopping... What regular mortal teenage girls do. I never really got the chance to do much of that," she confessed, absently twirling a strand of her hair around her finger.

Alex raised her eyebrows slightly. To her, friends were a necessity, which was why she developed the habit of making friends with everyone she meets. She did have a lot of girl friends, both in the past and now, though she wasn't really that close with the latter ones. Most girls here liked to spar more than shop.

"Why not?" Alex pressed on, looking at Kade for answers. "I mean, you've been here for how many years, and you don't really have a lot of guy friends? Believe it or not, I find it weird."

Leave it to Alex to freely voice out her thoughts. Her mouth was going to lead her to her own destruction someday.

Alex shrugged. It didn't seem like Kade wanted to talk about it. But... "Why? Why do you think friends are not that important?"

Alex was Alex. And the daughter of Zeus had always been too curious and too talkative for her own good. She did have the habit of pressing people on awkward subjects due to her curiosity and boldness. Maybe she just couldn't take hints. Or maybe she did but she completely disregarded them. Whatever the reason was, Alex didn't really care. She rested her head on her knees, waiting for Kade's answer.
