| away she'd fly The salty water drifted past the sand, seeping into the fine grain. Kayleigh dug her fingers under the small objects, picking her hand up so the soft sand fell down her hand. She stared straight ahead, her eyes fixated on the beach's water as they crashed into rocks far ahead. In the daylight, the sun would shine in her eyes, making it almost impossible to see anything. Though, in the afternoon, she could see perfectly. She had been sitting there for an hour now, trying to get away from the obnoxious camp. Besides spotting the ridiculous drama ever so often, staying close by all of the other campers was no fun. Loud, smelly, and unbearably stupid. It was disgusting, at least to Kayleigh. Trying to relax herself, Kayleigh took a deep breath. If she focused on being calm and out of alarm, it could work. But if she could just rid herself of thought completely, it would be even better. Kayleigh sunk down, lying flat across the sand. She then rested herself up on one arm, facing towards the water once more. The glistening ripples covering everything straight ahead made irritating noises. They interfered with her quietness. Kayleigh tensed up. Nowhere, literally nowhere, in the surrounding area was empty enough for the teen. Her expectations were certainly high, though she did not want to blame herself for something. Instead, she put the blame on the cruddy ways "Mothernature" worked, and how the city was ridiculous. Kayleigh sighed, knowing that she was fighting off resting. If she continued to procrastinate, she'd be in the same, snobby mood she felt like she was in ten minutes ago. Nobody received anything good from the girl being cranky. The plus side, though, was that being the somewhat wallflower she is, nobody really noticed how pissed Kayleigh ever was. Once more, the blond sighed, hoping that this would snap her back into what her plan was. She closed her eyes, blocking out all of the things around her. Now with her vision gone, all that she cared about was her hearing. The water continued to smash against object, making Kayleigh flinch every so often. She began to hum, hoping her own voice, which she sometimes dreaded to hear, would help herself. It did. After nearly half an hour of humming to herself, the world fell silent. Kayleigh was in a blank land, on an Earth of nothingness. No dreams, no images, nothing. It was the most relaxed she had been in a while. As if all her worries had floated away, Kayleigh felt, at once peace. She could scratch that off of her bucket list. Seeming as this alternate universe could never go away, Kayleigh decided she never wanted it to. In the few minutes she had escaped her actual life, Kayleigh grew attached to the place. But the choice wasn't for her to make, no. Anything could wake her up from this. As if on cue, the tap of feet only a few yards away startled Kayleigh. She jolted up, feeling herself covered in bits of sand from the wind. Her face showed of the obvious shock and fear she was in. Looking around, her senses kicked back in, and the pat of the waves started up again. She rubbed her eyes, removing sand from them. Another person, just what she needed.
