A stroll through the French Quarter

Subject: A stroll through the French Quarter Thu Jan 12, 2012 8:36 pm

As I walked through the french quarter listening to the sounds of the city, sliding my cane back and forth across the cement. Suddenly there's a loud scream about three blocks down I could tell it was a monster could smell the the horrible thing a mile away it smelled of rotting flesh. I continued to walk slowly making it seem like I was completely unaware of whatever the mortals saw. Then I heard the sound of asphalt crushing as though a gaint was running across the pavement. Suddenly I had a thought "What if I had bitten off more than I could chew." I started to run away through what smell like a park the foot steps were getting closer, I started booking it. next thing I knew I was on the ground I had tripped over something the monster was on top of me know growling at me. It knocked me out the next thing I knew I was dangling 25 feet above the ground swinging back and forth. "SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!"

I was walking off campus when I came across a giant sitting next to a boy swinging back and forth over a fire. I ducked back inside the bushes quick enough so that the giant didn't see me. It did look in my direction though which sent shivers down my spine. I had never encountered something so huge before. I looked at the boy who was dangling there by his legs. I needed to help him. I looked for some way that I could kill the giant but anything that I did would involve me uprooting trees and stuff which I co- wait I could do that I would simply uproot the trees and smash the trees into the giant completely pulverizing him. However it might take a lot out of me using that much power and I might pass out because of it. Maybe if I could simply get him to come over to me and trip him up using a well placed root of a tree. Then I could easily get on top of him and launch an arrow into the back of his head. That would be easier. I jumped out of the bushes and shouted to the giant, "Hey you! Big fat guy! Over here!" The giant roared at me and I gulped hoping this would work. He started to charge at me and after he had gotten close enough I rose some tree roots out of the ground and wrapped them around his feet tripping him over. I then ran up and got onto his back. I took out my bow and loaded an arrow. I pulled back with all my might and launched the arrow square in the back of his head. He exploded into dust and I fell onto the ground. I then used my power to control the tree branches that were around and slice through the rope that was holding the boy while bringing a branch right under him for him to land on. I then moved the branch safely to the ground and walked over to him. I said to him, "I hope that giant didn't hurt you too badly."

"I think it broke my leg while it was carrying me." stands up "Nope I'm good it just hurts. Where are we? Its usually more humid in New Orleans: uuuh do you see my cane anywhere?" I start to walk where I heard your voice come from. "Keep talking please."

I looked at the boy who from the way he told me to keep talking I assumed was blind. I said to him, "Don't worry I'll come to you." I went over to him and said, "We're just outside of Camp Half Blood which is in New York. You're lucky I was just taking a walk outside of camp. My name is Catherine Auditore. Who might you be?"

"Matthew Gray you can call me Chaos. What is camp half blood? I can hear voices in there distance, how many people are here?" I grab here arm hoping you would lead me away.

I tensed not expecting him to grab my arm like that. I then relaxed into it and started to walk to camp. As we walked I said to Chaos, "There are hundreds of other demigods here like me. Are you claimed yet by any chance?" I wondered if he knew about who his god parent was. I walked with him towards the camp happily. He seemed nice enough.

"Demigods? I just know that I have been getting chased by monsters since mom kicked me out, and that for some reason even when I shot them with a gun the didn't die unless I cut them with one of my swords." I show you my dual wield swords. "Mom is an archaeologists she found them at Greece had them sharpened and polished. What gods are you talking about?"

I smiled happy that I was the one that would be able to explain this to Chaos. I moved his arm out from under me so that we could hold hands. His hand felt very nice in mine. I then said, "Well demigods are the children of the gods. You know the gods from Greek mythology? They're real. I'm a daughter of Persephone myself.Each one of us has a god parent and I don't mean like a godmother or a godfather I mean like a parent who was a god or goddess. That's how I saved you. Since my mother is Persephone I was able to use the plant-life that was around you to kill the giant and free you."

"Sounds pretty cool. But how come I couldn't kill the monsters with a gun? So can you tell who my father is?" Starts to feel a little nervous. "My arms feel a little burnt." The fire burned my forearms.

I giggled and said, "You're kinda cute. The reason why the gun wouldn't work is because that's a mortal world weapon. It's like trying to pacify a baby by yelling at it it's only going to make things worse. In your case I'm assuming it didn't do anything at all. I'm not sure who your father is but if you hold on a sec I can give you something once we get to camp that will make your arms hurt less. We just need to get across the barrier so that the monsters can't attack us when we're unprotected. The monsters can't go within the camp's boundaries."

I blush a little bit."Thank you, I'm sure your just as cute. Most time girls avoid me I don't act weird and you'd think that girls would be more attracted to me considering I'm blind.Why can't monsters get inside the barrier and how come my swords worked?"

I blushed and said, "Well the monsters can't get into camp because of the pine tree that is in front of the camp. It creates a type of barrier that keeps the monsters out of the camp. As for the reason why your swords worked, my guess is that your swords are made of celestial metal or something not normally found in the mortal world."

(OOC: I read all of the books in that series too and am working on reading The Son of Neptune right now.)

"okay, I guess that makes sense. You sound tired are you okay? So how far away from the camp are we?" I hear some more growling up ahead. "Are you sure there are no more monsters?"

I said to him, "I am kinda tired. It took a lot of energy out of me fighting that giant but it was better than what my original plan of battle was which most likely would have made me pass out before I was even able to get you down from the rope. The noise you hear is the dragon that guards Thalia's Pine. I don't think he'll attack campers but I wouldn't go to close to the tree anyways. It wouldn't be a very smart idea to find out. We're almost there." A few more minutes of walking and we were in the camp square. I smiled and said, "Well here we are."

People surround me asking me various questions. Like have you been claimed yet, what happened to me. "Do they do this to all the new kids." One kids voice goes above everybody else's "Not even a full day here and he's already got a girl!".

I pulled Chaos with me and said, "Come on, let's get out of here until everyone dies down." Once we were in a more secluded area I said to him, "I'm sorry about that. I didn't expect that. People didn't bombard me when I first arrived which is weird because I'm the daughter of the assassin Ezio Auditore. People didn't even want to be near me when I first arrived. I've been pretty much alone since I came here."

"Its okay, I know how you feel, I wasn't expecting that either. People avoid me like the plague. Once I went to a fortune teller and she told me my aura was darker than the darkest caves, and that people avoid me because of that."

I laughed. I couldn't imagine how someone could possibly call his aura dark. I then decided to make a joke. I said to him, "Did she then proceed to attack you?"

In a little voice I say "How's you know? As soon as she was done she start spraying me with what she claimed to be Holy water. Are we going somewhere to get stuff for my arms?"

I chuckled and said, "Nope you're actually going to just stand right there and I'll take care of the rest. I know some herbal remedies that would cure your blindness or at least give you partial sight if you would like that as well."

I lean in close to you ear and whisper. "Between you and me a can actually see you perfectly fine but just not with my eyes. When I'm around people and living things I can see auras and they different things like your hair and skin tone. I use sounds that reverberate of objects to tell where they are. its like having uber senses. Plus reading brail is much easier." I back a way from you ear and i think to myself "It would be nice to be able to see though but this way i don't have to deal see all the evil in the world."

"Fine go ahead." I sit down on one of the cots in the infirmary. "How long is it going to take?"

I smiled and said, "Just a second. " I grew some herbs around us. Some that would heal his arms and some that would cure his blindness. I then used them on him and waited for them to take effect. I wondered how he would react.

I sit there a few seconds and my burns go away. Suddenly I'm "blinded" by a bright light. I scream as my eyes dilate for the first time ever "AUGH What the heck happened my eyes burn like crazy." I squeeze my eyes shut and clamp my hand over my eyes. "Do you have any sunglasses?"
