Private{Charity and Lance}

I walked along the shore. My converse trudging through wet sand. Warm tears streamed down my face. I couldn't stop thinking about my step-dad, he faked it the whole time! He said he was my real dad but he wasn't! He lied to me for 13 years! I ran up the beach to a nice pile of boulders slightly in the water. I hid behind the boulders. Gods, I'm actually crying for once.

Lance headed out from the Hermes cabin where he was staying and he walked along to the beach and he got there and sat down pulling his black 'cowboy' hat down over his eyes. Lance sat and then he heard something, it was crying, a girl. Not being one to just let someone be upset Lance stepped over to the boulders where he thought the crying was coming from.

Lance saw a girl around the same age as him and he sat on a boulder.

"Hi what's a purty girl like you sitting and crying for."

Lance smiled at the girl much like he did earlier that day with Adin when she was upset.

"What do you want? Do you want to come screw up my life too? Maybe even betray me?" I jabbed. I wanted someone to talk to but not a dude. I needed a sibling. I needed Felix.

Lance put his hands up alittle shocked at the sudden jab.

"Listen I just met you like thirty seconds ago. How could I possibly screw up your life? How could I betray you?"

Lance looked down at the girl confused, very confused but she was probably just upset .

"Now maybe I could introduce myself before you yell at me, I'm Lance Smith."

"Sorry, I'm just frustrated. I'm Charity Lessard, nice to meet you." I stood up wiping my tears and brushing off my pants. He was cute. Nice name too. " Wanna hang out with me for awhile, you're the second person I met at camp other than my brother Felix. I need to get some things off my chest, wanna help?"

Lance smiled and nodded, Lance liked this girl already she was pretty hot. Lance sat down on a rock and said

"Sure what'd you wanna get off your chest? I'm a good listener."

"Well, my mom remarried before I was even born, so I had always thought that my step-dad was my real dad. And he went along with that to. He taught me how to ride a bike and how to build a playhouse. I loved him. But now that I know about Hermes, I'm awfully angry with him. He lied to me for 13 years! 13!"

Lance nodded and adjusted his hat.

"Ah I see, well when I was four my mother re married and they had my sister. So I can't really understan what y'all are going through but fo' what it's worth I'm sorry y'all was lied to."

Lance could listen rather well but he thought he should give his thought on the matter afterwards.

"And not to make it sound any less bad but they couldn't really say oh hey your father is a Greek God when you was younger and they had to go along with it as you grew because it would of only make it worse."

"Oh I see, and yes but my mom could have at least told me that he wasn't my real dad." I wasn't crying anymore. And man did this guy sound like he was from Texas. I watched him adjust his hat once more.

Lance smiled, she wasn't crying anymore so Lance had atleast acomplished something. Lance had decideed to leave most of his thought on the matter out of it from now on.

"Yeah I suppose they should of."

Lance sat on his rock and thought Wow Charity must think I'm some kind of hillbilly guy who's trying to fit in with the city folk I need to step up my game but I definatley don't think I'm very charming.

He had agreed. I was starting to like this guy, he had an awaone Texas accentish thingy . I got up and fave him a friendly hug. He was warm and smelled good.

Lance smiled and returned the hug Sweet today has gone great!

"Well uh.....Your very...uh um.....Thanks?"

Lance studdered out the words before giving up on saying anything that made sense.

I smiled. "I'm very what?" I linked arms with him jokingly and started walking down the beach. "So where do you come from?" I asked the him.

Lance smiled he had made a complete idiot of himself but she didn't seem to mind so whatever.

"I come from Sterling City, I lived there with my step dad and my sister and my mom and yeah it was pertty good there the usual I guess but this place is just..wow I just came to the beach after spending alittle time at the Hermes cabin and I'm new here so in terms of all the greek gear y'all wear I'm a bare as a beavers back."

Lance realised how much he said in that short ammount of time and he said

"I'm rambling aren't I? Am I boring you?"

"I love Sterling City. I went there once. And you're doing fine. You're not boring me at all!" I laughed. I think me and Lance are going to be good friends.

Lance gave a grin and a wink

"Your going to regret saying that"

Lance liked this girl like alot they were going to be good friends but secretly inside Lance that he even didn't fully realise he wanted just that little bit more than friendship.

"So what about you? What's your story?"

Lance asked with complete interest

"Well I used to live in Windsor, Ontario. My parents took me to doctors and specialists because I was having werid dreams and hearing a male voice in my head constantly. Months after they put me up for adoption. They said I was too much to handle. After seven weeks in foster care, I was adopted by the lessards. After six months of living with them, they sent me to boarding school. In manhatten. So I attended Yancy Academy, there I met my best friend Hunter Stroud(female), who turned out to be a Nymph. So here I am."

Lance smiled a half hearted smile and said

"Ah the ol' best friend turn out to be a magical creature trick."

Lance wiped a fake sarcastic tear from his eye

"You gotta love this world now I found out I'm a Half Blood."

Lance almost laughed and moved very slightly closer to Charity but he hadn't realised it but it was enough space moved that she would of noticed.

"Yeah, being a half-blood has its perks but, there is the "you know you can be killed quite easily" part that I just find not fair." I smiled. Had Lance gotten closer to me? Nah, it was probably just my mind playing tricks on me. I looked over at him and stool his hat. I ran as fast as I could down the beach.

Lance shooked his head and had a wide grin on his face as he ran down the beach, his feet quickly making shallow dips in the sand and small spashes and he ran through patches of water as he got closer and within the distance that she could hear him without his shouting so everyone could hear he said.

"Oi! Give me back my hat! If not I'll just have to grab it from you."

I laughed as I ran the stopped when I reached where the water started to wrap around the beach, where the dock also was. I slowly backed onto the dock. Lance was already here. I was still laughing. I guess I back up to far because before I knew it I was falling backwards. I quickly grabbed Lances hand and pulled him down with me. Then I remembered I can't swim.

Lance fell into the water with a large splash and sank but qucikly swam to the surface and rubbed his eye spouting water from his mouth but he looked around and saw Charity she didn't look good not good at all.Scared. Lance swam over to her and saw she wasn't swimming well if at all. Lance grabbed her and in a flash his mind got to work he needed to swim back to the beach and so he did manouvering himself and grabbing Charity on his back he said.

"Are you ok? Hold on."

Lance made sure she was holding on and swam he aw nearing the beach and he turned his head to face her.

"It's fine we're getting closer to the beach now."

I was choking on water. How embaressing. And I couldn't swim. Even more embaressing. Lance was even helping me back to shore. This, by far, was the most embaressing day of my life. Once we reached the shore, I was layed down on the sand. My face was even paler than usual. Stupid me and my bad luck. I should have just stayed off the dock. My lips were purple and freezing. My clothes were soaked.Shiz. I was wearing a white top and a black bra. Crap!

Lance noticed the whole clothes dilema but being kind enough not to stare laid back on the beach next to Charity.

"Well there goes my hat"

Lance laughed it off it wasn't what people would call 'good' but it was great. Lances clothes were soaked and now covered in sand but he lay there next to Charity, he was cold and his teeth were chattering ever so slightly. Lance then rolled on his side and propped his head in his hand and he looked at Charity.

"S-s-s-s-sorry about y-y-your h-hat." My teeth chattered. I was looking up at Lance. "A-also thats for s-s-saving me." I smiled. "I'll buy you a new hat." I sat up, shivering and pulled myself into a tight ball.
