Hanging in the Forest

Subject: Hanging in the Forest Sat Dec 10, 2011 12:30 am

I walked through the forest wearing my black baby T and my violet jacket. I was looking for a tree to sit under. Finally I found a perfect one, I sat down between the large roots. Pulling out my iPod I put the ear buds in my ears and began listening to Falling in Reverse. I quietly began to tap my foot along.

Chase had been busy all day with training and other things. He still held his sword, Vengeance, now. The aura of death curled off it in the form of grey smoke. He was hot and sweaty and his black curls were plastered to his face. He was shirtless and wearing shorts and sneakers sporting great Calvin Klein underwear. His cold eyes were staring out to the snow lips curled up. It was Death's Season, everyone knew Death was closest to everyone in the winter and furthest away in spring.

He left the Arena and walked towards the Forest to find peace. He had done enough today. He walked and walked further away from the Cabins. Until he found a great oak. He but his sword in its sheath on his back and grabbed a branch. He tightened his biceps and set off the ground landing on the branch smoothly. He grabbed his BlackBerry and put his earplugs in and started listening to music and bbm-ing some friends.

He felt a disturbance under the tree and cocked his eyebrow. He looked down and saw a girl. He stood up on the thick branch and flipped backwards landing lightly on his feet in a defensive crouch looking at her ready to pull out his sword.

I looked up and saw a guy standing there. Pulling out my ear buds I turn off the music. "I'm not looking for a fight." I said calmly. I stood up and showed him my hands. "You're not going to attack someone unarmed are you? That would be a cheap shot." I looked at him in shorts with no shirt. "Are you not cold?" I asked. I did my best not to stare at him. I hadn't ever seen him around camp before. I've honestly never seen anyone like him around camp. I smiled at him. "If you keep away the sword I'll tell you my name." I said trying to compromise. I really didn't want to fight with him.

Carefully Chase rose to his full 6'4'' length and stayed alert and his abdominals were slightly tensed to make the blossoming 8-pack stand out even more. He regarded the girl carefully and raised an eyebrow, "Alright," was all he said in his charming and sexy English accent. He took a breath and shook his head, the cold wasn't bothering him, not when he was that warm. He nearly chuckled at the compromise, he could just as well kill her after she told him her name, what difference would knowing her name make? None! Exactly. Girls could be naive but boys even worse so the contrast between the truth and Chase's thoughts were unbearably funny at that moment.

I held out my hand. "I'm Tori, daughter of Dionysus." I smiled but still kept my guard up. I didn't want to fight but I would if I had to. There was something about him that made me uneasy. "And yours?" I asked. I looked up at him. He was a foot taller then me and I wasn't used to having to look up to talk to someone. It made me feel small and I didn't like it. I kept my face emotionless though. You don't need people knowing that they have power over you. Especially someone who could try and kill you in an instant.

Ah, the introductions, sappy as, just like Eat. Pray. Love which film I totally love by the way, especially the Eat part. When I was pregnant all I did was eat and get fat. So on with the story. Carefully Chase grabbed Tori's hand and shook it politely, "I'm Death's Creation," he said hoping to scare her away. He could see a muscle in her jaw twitch for a second and he knew that she wasn't comfortable with him. Good. He loved it when people felt like that.

I laughed lightly. "Nice nickname." I smiled. I could tell he was trying to scare me away but I wasn't going no where. No matter how uncomfortable it got. I was here first. If he didn't want me around he'd have to go some where else. I sat back down and looked up at him. "Are you going to stand there or sit with me?" I asked.

Raising an eyebrow he lowered himself to the ground smoothly and sat down. He liked her laugh and forced himself to hate her more because of it. He didn't like liking something like that. Disgruntled he sat against the tree on the other side with crossed legs and his bare back leaning against the cold wood. He stared out at a fox trotting past safely and he could see the shimmering aura around it, the fox would die soon and everyone knew the path of Fate could be changed but the outcome could not. So why try? He took out his phone again and started talking to his best mortal friend, Matt. Blatantly ignoring Tori in the process of talking to Matt.

I wasn't surprised he was ignoring me. He just seemed like that kind of person. I rolled my eyes and put in my ear-buds again and turned on my iPod. I began to listen to Black Veil Brides when I realized something. Wait, demigods aren't suppose to have cellphones. Or even use one. Great he's probably just doing it on purpose so he can lure a monster here and be a big show off. I rolled my eyes again. Gods I've never rolled my eyes this much. I realized. Gods this guy is going to make my eyes hurt from rolling so much. I wrapped my jacket around me tighter because it felt like it was getting colder.

He was chatting and smiled, he knew that cell phones could be traced by monsters but only calls, no bbm's or text could since that was all encrypted coding an everything they couldn't make sense of it nor track its sources making those things safe. The girl seemed to be getting cold but Chase was still sweating and his face was still slightly flushed. He rested his head against the tree and closed his eyes. He spoke quietly, "I'm Chase, son of Thanatos," he said softly without moving or acknowledging he'd just introduced himself to the pretty girl.

I smiled. The music was low enough that I could hear him. "Nice to meet you Chase." I sighed, my breath a fog. "Why do you go by Deaths Creation?" I asked pulling out my ear buds. I liked his name I don't get why people go by nick names. And all the people who go by nicknames have good names. I like my name and wouldn't change it if I had a chance. But that's just how I am. I looked over at him. His eyes were closed. I took this time to get a good look at him. He was much better looking than I remember. Way out of my league, I thought. I sighed and looked down at the tree trunk forgetting where I was.

He sighed and new he'd be after that question and knew he had to answer. Shrugging softly he spoke opening his full, gorgeous, totally kissable lips, "I was born to Death and I can see Death where ever I go, I can streamline souls past Hades, command some to settle in a new body and I can see if people are going to die soon," was all he said. The rest she could figure out if she deemed that his words weren't enough. He always went by his Name of Old because he'd been raised as Death's Creation and he would die as his fathers tool like he was right now. He'd seen the fox and knew he was going to die alerting his father the send one of his minions to go and fetch the soul of the animal.

"That has to be horrible." I turned back away from him. That power is horrible. Being able to tell if the people close to you are going to die. Or even if it was a total stranger. I wouldn't be able to stand it. My eyes filled with sadness. 'He must not let people close.' I thought. I wouldn't either. I would scare others away or not talk to anyone. I don't think anyone should be burdened by a curse like that. Even thinking of someone being burdened with that made a cold tear fall from my eye. I quickly wiped it away hopeing he didn't see. I didn't ever let anyone see me cry and I intended to keep it that way. I pulled my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them trying to warm myself. I rested my head on my knees and just let my mind drift for a second
