"There is, but I'm fine," she insists, putting on a smile for his sake. She tried not to make these things obvious, and she reprimanded herself internally. How was she supposed to be an optimist when she wasn't even optimistic? Whatever. She just had to stick it out here for a few months. Maybe she'd even grow to like it.

"Well, ok," I say, rather doubtfully. "I might be able to help you know," I say. Why did I just say that? Whatever, she was my friend, and I want her to know that I care if she has some problems.

Nala shakes her head. "I have to deal with it on my own. It's not that big of a deal. I'll get over it." It wasn't like she was dying, or it was something he could really help with. It wasn't a big problem. In fact, it was relatively normal compared to some of the messed up people she'd heard about in this place.

"Ok," I figured that I shouldn't push the subject anymore. "So," I said, "What do we do now, now that we're hopefully not going to die?"

"Well, we're all going to die eventually. Unless we're immortal," Nala mused. Gods, where was she getting this stuff from? She had to force herself not to facepalm. "Ignore that," she says, chuckling slightly. "I don't know... you want to do anything in particular?"

"Well," I said, putting that other thing she said aside, "Here." I focus on the lake. A big patch on the lake, starting at the shore, turns to thick ice. "Let's just wait a couple minutes to ragain my energy," I say. Three minutes pass, and I get up, and offer my hand. "Wanna' go ice skating?"

Nala raises an eyebrow. "Really? And the ice won't melt?" Nala was really a very good ice skater. She'd done it for a few years. It sort of helped with her dancing, improved balance and all.

"I'm positive," I say. And actually, I wasn't lying. "Only I can melt this ice," I say.

Nala nods, looking out at the ice. Well, it looked like fun. She smiled slightly. "Let's do it."

"Alright, follow me!" I say, taking her hand and leading her to the shore.

"Alright!" she says, following close behind him. She could feel a cool breeze that floated off the ice, and she was happy for it. It was hot and sort of sticky outside of it, so the ice felt refreshing in the air. Nala guessed that children of Khione were never too hot.

I let go of her hand when we were in the middle of the lake on the ice. I started skating. Of course, being a son of Khione I could ice skat pretty well. I gave Nala that look that said, are you coming?

He let go of her hand, and she watches him for a moment. He was good. Of course, not as good as some of the professionals she'd seen, but she hadn't expected him to be. Then he looked at her, almost impatiently. She grins and skates purposely the long way around to meet him. She skids to a quick stop in front of him. "Hellllllloooo."

OOC: How old is Nala? Just wondering. :P

I laughed, "Hellllo to you too!" And skated off. I did a double spin in the air and landed perfecly on the ice.

Nala laughed, grinning as she watched him spin. "Show off," she muttered loudly, smirking. She could compete with him if she wanted to. Instead she just skated around in a circle.

I gave her a me? kind of look, and skated after her. She was fun to be around, and I was glad for that. I hadn't had much fun in some time. I did one of those spin-around-in-a circle-really-close-to-the-ground sort of things.

Nala rolled her eyes, skating on one foot. It wasn't that difficult for her. Then she bent it in an arc so her skate nearly touched her head. She grinned. She was quite flexible, being a dancer and all. It was funny to watch peoples reactions.

I stared wide eyed at Nala. Now THAT was impressive! "Wow, you're really flexible!" I say. Man, cute and talented... she'a got it all!

Nala chuckled, bringing her leg down and skating normally. "You think? I've been training since I'm three." She better be flexible after all that she's done. She couldn't help but laugh a bit at his awestruck expression.

"Yeah I think so!" I said. I did a couple more tricks, but Nala was always better than me. "Aw, give me a break Nala! You're wiping me out!" I said witha smile.

Nala grins. "I did one trick, and suddenly you're terrible?" She can't help but be amused. She slows down and does a handspring on the ice, skidding a little but being alright otherwise. "Crap," she mutters. She probably could have done better, but she didn't have gloves. Oh well. It wasn't like she was in camp to improve at dance or skating.

"Hey, that was amazing!" I said, "Don't get down on yourself. As for getting worse... I think your mighty presence is screwing me up!" I said, laughing.

Nala blushes slightly. She wasn't used to people telling her that she was amazing. When she danced, everyone was so full of criticism, no matter how good you were. "That move should have been done faster," or "Your leg shook a little." She smiles. "My mighty presence? So now I'm all high and mighty and stuff?"

"Oh, absolutly!" I say, bowing, "Your highness." I smile and start skating in a circle.

Nala raised an eyebrow, laughing. "Oh really?" she said. This was a tad absurd, but she was happy for the first time in a few days, so that was a plus. She skated normally, around the rink in a circle.
