| I sat by the creek and gently swiped my hand through the water. It was a lovely night out here. The moon shown high in the sky and stars twinkled everywhere. I was told that this was the exact place my cousin sat when she met the love of her life. It was the closest I could get to Thalia right now. I missed her dearly. I have gotten to where I will come out here to the creek if I need to think or just be at peace. It works too. It is my favorite spot here at camp. I sit and listen to the crickets sing. | |

| Sleep. Dreams. Those things just would not come for Mitch. So he'd decided to go for a little old stroll down to Euros Creek. He wasn't surprised when he saw someone else there - it was a popular place for Campers out after curfew.
"Hey," Mitch Harvard, Son of Aphrodite said, walking over to the girl doing all that dramatic looking around.

| I heard footsteps behind me. So I wasn’t surprised when a boy yelled out ‘hey’. “Hello.” I said turning and holding out my hand. He was younger than I but he seemed nice. Probably an Aphrodite kid. “I am Thalia. What’s your name, kid?” I asked as I flashed him one of my common smiles. | |

| "I'm Mitch, Son of Aphrodite. Hey there, Thalia. How ya going? Can't sleep, too?" Mitch said, in his usual animated way. He shook the girl's hand. The black-haired New Zealander looked around. She seemed to be alone. Perhaps she was feeling pubescent, or perhaps she was just in mood for some time alone (something that never happened to Mitch - he was a social butterfly) or, maybe, she had the same dilemma as Mitch. |

| I sat back down and sighed. “No. I haven’t tried to sleep. I just needed some kind of remembrance of my cousin, Thalia. This was the closest place I could be to her. So, I guessing you couldn’t sleep, Mitch? I asked as I laid back and stared up at him with electric blue eyes that glowed in the dark. | |

| "Pretty much," said Mitch, agreeing, "Can not sleep. We have this new Camper, and, well, he snores. Not nice. All the others are freaking out - they keep changing positions, so their hair gets mucked up. They can be so damn annoying like that, ya know? Anyway, it's pretty... Messed up, in there right now.""
Oh, those eyes. They glowed. In the dark. It was kind of cool, but kind of freaky, too - Mitch couldn't help but ask himself if they made it easier to see in the dark. |

| Mitch told me about a new camper that the Aphrodite kids had that snored. Therefore, he couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t help but give a little silent laugh, closing my eyes as I did so. When I opened them again, I noticed he was staring at them. I closed them once again and sat up. “Sorry about the freaky eyes thing.” | |

| "Oh. Erm..." Mitch didn't know what to say. It was kind of weird to be caught staring at someone's eyes, "It's okay. It's kinda cool. And freaky. So... Erm, do they help you see in the dark and stuff, 'cos they're like... Glow-ey and stuff?"
Mitch had something in common with Riea. He could do what some might consider a 'freaky eye thing', too. He had a power similar to charmspeak, but with his eyes. Mitch had a super-glare. Super-strong emotion, packed in a steady gaze... He could make people do stuff.
Not mind-control. It didn't just make people do stuff. As a Son of Aphrodite, Mitch was a stronghold of emotion. Emotion, especially love, could bring the strongest people to their knees. |

| Mitch asked if my eyes helped me see in the dark. I chuckled and my eyes closed. Once I opened them again, I said “That’s a new one. I haven’t heard that one before. But to answer your question, no. I see as everyone else sees.” | |

| "That's a shame. It would be handy if the glowed your sight. Especially if you're afraid of the dark." Mitch said. He looked around. The sound of the Creek mingled wiu the soft rustling with the leaves on the huge trees, plus the occasional sound of a bird made it a beautiful silence. For a moment, he felt like a nature-obsessed Stayr.
But he wasn't. He was a rugby-obsessed twelve year-old. |
