Saving Emily (QUEST)

I nod and jump from the backseat to the driver's seat. I've only driven a car twice in driver's ed, but I wasn't gonna tell her that! The engine revs to life, and I put the Lambo in reverse as I get back onto the road and try to figure out which direction is Westward bound... "So what did you wanna tell us later, Katie?" I say, referring to her saying that she's not "delicate" anymore.

My mind whirs for a minute as I try to think of that. "Wait, wait, wait, wait. Wait a minute, Katie. He'll take it- THEM?" It takes all my power to stay on course on the right side of the road. "That's what I saw! It makes sense now. Twins. And whose..." I was truly curious about this question, but she could explain after everything else.

I only shrugged. "who knows. Dad's note was no help to me." It was, i just didnt want them worrying about an old demigod like me. I lust looked around, enjoying the scenery.

My eyes roll, and I think of anything else to keep my mind off of that .It would kill me inside until I found out. I step on the gas so that we're going a safe seventy in a thirty mph zone. "Well I'm glad that Dad's helping you out."

I nod, somewhat irritated inside. I didn't know why, so I just blurted it out. "Did you want kids, Katie? Or did it just..." I didn't feel the need to continue that thought at all. As I hit the beltway, I see a giant green sign saying "Manhattan Bound" with an arrow to a left turn-off, so I turn there.

Thankful for the change of subject, I reply quickly. "In Miami, at home. But I just saw this note to my mo- Elizabeth- from Em's social worker. She's in Washington state. But that place is huge? What do we do?" The stress amounts me like a physical wright on my shoulders. What if I was too late? What if she's dying now?

I sighed a deep sigh. "We head to Washington coast. Look for schools that jog my memory or those mortals or something. We can probably make it to D.C. tonight if we keep this pace up. And let me know if you get tired. I can drive for a bit." I glanced at Seth snoring in the Passenger seat.* "I don't have the heart to wake him up" I chuckled.

I laugh as well and speed up as much as possible. The city flashes by me at a hundred ten miles per hour, and I let myself get lost in driving. So who cares if I forget to use my turn signals? People respect nice cars, and this is a gorgeous car. "That'll be quite a trip. Let's do it. But I should warn you- if she's still the same, Emily is kind of a b-word sometimes. Demanding and rude, but she's just... one-of-a-kind."

I nod and smile, thinking of my limited memories with my twin sister. I never even stopped to realize that she's Katie's sister too. Wow. The world is so small sometimes in a half-blood's life. "Sounds good." After maybe half an hour of silence and intense searching, I spot a small motel that didn't look too bad or creepy or deadly, so I pull into the almost-empty parking lot and try to stop slowly, not wanting to wake our brother.

I nod to Katie and try to figure out what in Hades to do about Seth. He WOULD flatten me like a cockroach, so I finally decide to take him dragging half-conscience. I turn on the engine for a minute, turn the radio full-blast, and then turn it off. That way, he'd at least have some sense of reality. I get out, go to his door, and drag him by his arm. On my way inside, I skillfully grab my guitar and small bag of clothes from the trunk. As I reach the front door, I'm already exhausted, but I continue dragging anyway.

I begin to laugh as he continues to crush the both of us. I throw him onto the first bed I see and breath for a few seconds before laughing hysterically. "That's not fair to either of us!" I head straight to the bathroom, still laughing a little still. I splash some cold water on my face before heading back into the small room. "What now, Captain Katie?" I salute.

I nod again, letting her get her own bags. Now was my own deal... the bed issue... I had already thrown Seth on the bed near the window, and I was not moving him again. The beds were pretty big, but I didn't want to make anyone feel awkward. After much deliberation I decided to put Katie and me together, and Seth could have his own bed. That way, he could do whatever he needed to do when he woke up on his own without disturbing either Katie or me. After making this decisions, I take a relatively short shower. I really didn't trust anything anymore, especially random, cheap motel water. After getting dressed in a tank top and sweats, I put my small bag and guitar on a chair in the corner before braiding my hair down my back for bed.

I walked back in all my stuff jammed into my duffel bag. "Figure it out?" I ask looking at Seth passed out on the bed. "Nothing wakes him up huh?" I put my stuff down near the door. "Oh and if you hear the car alarm. Then maybe run nto the bathroom cause it'll disintegrate anyone looking at it." I said patting my small satchel where I kept my Sun essence.

I stirred slightly, before beginning to violently toss and turn. I was having a dream, which isnt always good for half-bloods. "Nooooo!!" I screamed.I sat bolt upright. I was still shaking.

I breathed heavily. I was starting to sweat. "They're... they're looking for something. It just keeps evading them..."
