Saving Emily (QUEST)

When the light touched me, my whole body shuddered violently. My eyes remained closed, and my body went still. The light shone from within my for a second, before being replaced with nothingness. My body was trying to reject the healing of both my sister and Dad. I managed to open my eyes very weakly, but it was still hard to see much of anything

Seeing Seth's eyes open suddenly, I turn teary-eyed. Again. I was turning into a wimp, but all I really cared about now was that my brother was gonna be okay. I silently thanked every god I could think of, even the ones who didn't particularly like me and vice versa. "Told ya so, sis. Seth's gonna be perfectly fine." I hold up his head with my hand and smile at him. "Hold on, Seth. Everything's gonna be fine. With my free hand, I force as much of my now-focused energy into his healing."

I took more deep breaths, "Jésues Cristo.." I said in latin, "We should really start hightailing it.." I laid more on the gas. "Hold on tight."

Sorry short post but I'm sick so excuse me ;(

She really meant it when she said to hold on. I loved Katie dearly, but I hoped that for Seth's sake that she was as safe a driver as she is fast. Seth was gaining conscienceness, and this was his most vulnerable he's been in a long time. "It's all gonna be fine, Seth. Thank the gods you're healing." It was a slow pace, but I couldn't tell him the potentially inevitable- he must know somewhere in the back of his mind that it's extremely possible for him- and all of us- to die on this quest.

"Is he waking up?" I asked while scooting the car underneath a big rig doing about 190. "He's alright isn't he? Isn't he??" I started wanting a reply. Drawing things out especially now. I needed to get my act together. An emotional breakdown on the FIRST day was not what I was looking for. So after several more hours of driving, some very bad jokes, and a quiet snooze from Alexia we entered the city limits of Columbus.

Unfortunately, all of the healing made me so exhausted that I couldn't even answer Katie's simple-but-not-easy-to-answer questions. Thank the gods, I was too exhausted to dream. Dreaming would just freak me out right now, after the last dream I had about Em. What I had to do now was rest up so that I could do my best with the next round of healing for Seth.

I was awake now, but I could barely open my eyes. I tried moving, but that was just a strain. I tried to speak, but all that escaped was one short gasp. I just wathed the world fly by, still too weak to manage anything more then very simple autory movements

After a truck beeps loudly next to us, I wake with a start, breathing heavily. I see Katie, driving just as steadily as she was before. I felt more refreshed after grabbing a few hours of Z's. "If you pull over, I'll drive for you, Katie. You haven't gotten any sleep since we left Long Island." I prop Seth up so that he's sitting, or I guess barely living. "You'll be okay, Seth," I promise again, thinking about forcing some nectar down his throat. It didn't seem like a good idea though- he's probably choke on it.

I nod quickly, not thinking about anything but sleep and driving. "I'll check in. Can you get Seth and any stuff you might need?" I take my bag and guitar into the lobby. All I could think was holy Hades. A chandelier lit up the fifty-foot ceiling with a thousand twinkling bulbs while a line of slot machines were to my left. The woman at the front desk looked at me skeptically, like it was a joke that I was coming in. "How may I help you?" she asked me, like I was bothering her to give her business. "Two rooms on the first floor, please."
"How old are you, girl?" she asked in the same tone.
"Eighteen," I answered, handing her a fake ID with all of the right information but the year.
"Okay, that'll be four hundred dollars, Miss..." she looks at the card and finishes, "Carter." I shudder at hearing my last name- I hated it so much. Reminded me of my mother too much. I handed her a credit card I had my mother authorize before I ran away- the only thing i liked about her. After signing the receipt, I take the swipe card and head to room 118. I turned around and saw only shock on her face at the girl who just signed a four hundred plus dollar bill without a wince. Mrs. Carter will be in for a surprise at the end of the month...

I walked in the front doors, my duffle slung over my shoulder and leading a groggy Seth through the doors. I got many glares sent my direction which I really didn't know why. I headed for the elevators, the most logical place to meet Alexia, when suddenly the lady sitting behind the desk shouted. "STOP!" I turned just in time to see security coming our way. 'Oh great I just totally need another strip search at this time of night.' I thought with bitter sarcasm.

Lol You can make up what happens xD I think they should like capture us, Seth cause he's a guy, me, cause I was with him xD

About five minutes later, I get a little nervous because Katie and Seth haven't arrived yet. Seth's probably waking up and is freaking out, thinking we're getting attacked again. Katie's calming him down. But I still had the thought that all demigods are born with- the thought that it's not just something that simple. So I leave the room to go investigate. I take my guitar and my bag, both slung around my back, just in case. When I enter the lobby, I see that the lady at the front desk is gone. "Hello? Hello? Anybody here?" Then I see something that gets my attention- an arrowhead on the ground by my feet. Interested now, I pick it up and inspect the shiny rock. But no, it's not an arrowhead. It's too sharp. And... metal? It's a spear tip. Oh crap. Katie. I run full speed into the room with the slot machines where I see another spear tip. But this time, it was attached to an actual spear. Really, gods? I can't have one night of sleep?

I followed a path of broken arrows and other weapons until I began to hear loud shrieks and yells from far away. As fast as I could, I ran through a room full of grown-up gamblers, looking for Katie. I walk up to a woman and ask her if she's seen a teenage girl and boy coming through here but instead of answering me, she just stared through me and spit at the ground, "Men do nothing for mankind. Life would thrive without them." Taken aback, I ran way and looked for someone else. Another observation- no men in the casino. Another yell of pain, this one worse than the previous. At last after funning through several corridors and more women commenting on life without men, a door with a lock on it comes in the way of me and the final sound. It falls to the floor after a powerful karate kick, and I silently drop my bag and guitar in a closet near the sound of torment. It was in this room.

I heard a door break, not my door though. It sounded like someone cut down a tree using fireworks. The guards dragged me down the hallway away from the sound of exploded tree. It was probably Alexia, but if I made a sound they'd find her and kill her. She had most likely found Seth. After a minute or so of walking I was kicked in the back of the leg, forced to kneel.

"Who is this snake?" A woman asked the guards.

"A traitor Queen Turty" the guards replied.

"Well, bring her to the slave quarters and do the usual to her." she said. I didn't like that, 'The usual' did not sound like something I wanted to experience. More walking and I was led into a room. Forced to change into some ridiculous get up that made me look like I stood on street corner's weekend nights. I felt something sharp and small puncture a hole in my back. Then I heard a guard mutter something like "Trackers in."

Through the window in the closet, I saw everyone more down the wide hallway, which made me even more irritated. All I could make out were a few not promising words: "slave... traitor... usual." In the shadows of the dark room, it was easy to slide along relatively unnoticed. Then I saw people, or at least I think they were people. They were all female, wearing strange tribal outfits, but none of them were the same. All of a sudden, everything made sense. The Amazon Casino... Amazon women... OH! The myths flooded into my vision, and I had a plan.
About thirty seconds later, I purposefully knocked over a broom from the closet. The queen sent a warrior to check it out, and I had my chance.
After properly dressing the exact same way that girl was, I stuffed the unconscious body into the corner, hoping it wouldn't wake up any time soon. I walked out and stood in front of Queen... Turty. Really? What kind of name was that? Anyway, I was safe for now. "What was that racket, Iphito?" she asked me curtly, like I wasn't worth her spit.
"Uhh, it was just a fallen stack of toilet paper," I say, trying to imitate their deep, tough voice.
"Hmmmf." she nodded and examined me for a moment. "You look different, Iphito. Why is your hair light now?" She sounded mad and slightly confused.
Crap. I was dead. "A container of uhh bleach fell on me as well. It-umm- dried quickly and... yeah." I suppose she bought the story, because she looked away and asked nothing further. Now I had to wait for a chance to grab Katie. But where was she...

When I was forcefully grabbed and moved, it was in such a way as to knock me out again. I immediately fell into a dream, which was more like a nightmare.

I saw Katie, which I thought would lighten the dream, but it only served to piss off my dream-self, I knew from previous demigod dreams that I couldnt be seen.

I watched her take a punch in . She had tried to fight, but they had her pinned and were wailing on her. I wanted so bad to be able to protect her. She got hit in the gut, and in the cheekbone, and the scene melted and changed.

I saw Alexia come out of the storage closet, and lie to someone who was apparently in charge. She was dressed as something I had only ever seen in person once... the Amazons. I screamed in my dream, my body still out and limp.

After standing silently formulating a reasonable plan, the Queen and her attendants were talking, like the people I saw earlier, about mankind ruining life. I simply nodded when anyone looked my way and tried to look busy. "So... I think I bumped my head in that closet... c-can anybody refres-sh me on what we do to prisoners?" They all stared at me like I was mental. The woman two away from me was the bravest of all.
"They are slaves. If they are weak or not useful, they are burned," she said in her deep voice.
"Oh, r-r-r-right," was my only response. Burned. Lovely. I had to get to Katie. FAST. "Did you hear that?" I pretended to ask. "I think I heard screaming. Probably the girl. I'll take care of it." I booked it fast before anybody had a clue what was going on, and I walked, than ran, listening to the fading talk of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders being perfect slaves. I reached a door and saw a woman coming out at th same time.
"Oh, great, Iphito, I was just going to take my break. That girl is not liking her treatment here. Mind shutting her up?" the tall, brawny, scary-looking woman asked. I nodded and walked in the room quickly, seeing Katie on the floor, bruised, beaten, and bloody.

"Prick.." I spat blood on the ground in front of me, "Try and see what happens you touch me again hmm?" I stood shakily balling my fists taking the fighter stance my brother had tought me. 'Strike fast and randomly' I recalled, makes sense to me now. I struck a kick at the new arrival hoping to land a blow before they could subdue me again.

I began to regain consciousness, but I decided not to let these bodybuilder-esque women know. I stayed limp, listening to what they had to say to ech other as we walked.

"What do we do with the man?" I heard one ask. The other laughed, a deep manly-sounding laugh. "Same with any other. He will be executed with his own weapon."

I panicked in my mind, not feeling my whip over my shoulder. This was not good.

Practically the moment I walked in, I felt a kick in my gut. "Gods!" I muttered along with a string of curses. I keeled over in pain before realizing that she didn't know who I was. I dropped my dagger-like weapon to the ground in a sign of peace. "It's me," I managed to say slowly. The breath was still knocked out of me. "What the hell, Katie?" I stood up and took my unmistakable long, blonde hair out of the tribal headdress I was wearing, hoping she'd see who I really was.

I nod and smile slightly at her new getup. Wow. That's all I had to say about it. "We'll figure something else. So do you, ow, have any clue where Seth is?" I grabbed my stomach in pain, but I decided I'd hide it from now on. It's not her fault. She acted out of defense. Then I saw the lump on her arm, like she'd just gotten a shot but someone forgot to put a Band-aid on it. I gently took her arm and inspected it. "And what's they do to you?"
