APOLLO CABIN

I shook my head, my hand running over my whip's belt clasp. I was listening to their conversation silently. "Lex, Katie's got Dad's stubbornness, we all do. I can't say I agree with Katie going, but she won't take no for an answer. I know I can travel, and I'd let myself come to harm before I'd let either of you."

I nod and think it through. A small nod appears along with a single teardrop, but I wipe it quickly as others appear. I turn away from everyone so only two closest siblings Seth and Katie can see me at my weakest. "But you- you don't even know her-" I sigh and choke down another round of tears, but sure as the sun rises, they appear again. "Emily. My Emily."

"That's just the thing, Lex. We want to know her." i smile at her, in my smile's crooked way. I hated seeing her emotional, but loved that these were, as far as I could tell, joyous tears. "Plus, it'll make you happy. There's always that."

I nod, thinking of the well-known story. "Let me know when we leave, and I'll go." Before I regretted it, I had to go. See if she's alive. If she knows anything. For her sake, I pray that she doesn't.

Glaring her down, I shake my head in objection. "I'm a daughter of Apollo. I'll be almost fully healed by tomorrow anyway. We need to go ASAP if we want to find her still alive. And if we wanna be back to make sure your sunburn is getting better, too." A shock suddenly runs through me. How does Seth know about Katie's pregnancy? I had to guess myself. How? Why? I put it all to rest and grab my crutches. Now standing up, I stay as still as I can, proving my balance to Katie.

"Alexia... you need to rest while you can. Medicine and god-food only heals so much. I think it's best left for morning, under Dad's watchful eye in the sky."There was concern in my eyes. I had a feeling she would argue her point until we saw it her way.

I stab my crutch at him playfully and laugh at him. "Fine!" I agree, knowing with both of them against me, I'd never win. "Hey, Dad! I got get better so we can save your daughter who's probably already dead!" I yell up to the sky. He'd probably be mad at me for insulting him like that, but I needed to go now. For him. For Emily, but NOT for my mother. I hate her. The only good thing she did was leave me here. "So any idea how to get out West, Katie or Sethy?"

"The way i see it we have 2 options." i held up some car keys. "Drive in an amazing car, or plane?"

I smile and look at the keys. "I don't care, but planes can getpricey. If you'd like to prevent your sunburn from getting worse, I'd say car, but driving for o long ca make you really tired. That wont helpeiher.

"I've only had my sunburn a day it'll be here for awhile I'm not worried about making it worse." I pocketed the keys. "We will figure it out tomorrow" I said returning to my cozy bunk I yawned exhaustion quickly overtaking me "G'night" I managed before falling asleep

"Night, Katie. Sweet dreams. Wake me up if sun poisoning gets you sick or anythibg. I wanna take care of you," I whisper as she nods off. I silently sit down and let her sleep. My bunk invites me to go to bed as well,but my brain is buzzing with a million thoughts of Katei and the twice-the-size-of-normal light and Washington state and the fateful day my world fell apart. My poor sister sent away into exile. My horrid mother who denied Emily's very existance. My thought awlawys go back to one image that kills the tiny glimmr of hope I have left. The imge of Emily's body lying in the dirt. A little seven year-old girl sen away becauseof a fire. All my fault. But I can onl block that wih Katie's glowing face. The glow of pregnancy. So many questions, but I just smile as I make my way to my bunk and sit down. My crtches fall to the floor with a loud bang! but I simply let it fall and look at Katie. guarding her.

In my dream I saw a school I was pretty sure It was out on the west coast because it was just turning into a sun set, I saw a girl on a pier. It was Alexia! But not, this version of her looked more girlier and well (just a tiny bit slimmer) I thought she was singing as I'd often heard Alexia do but I couldn't understand her. I heard a voice 'Olivia' it said and the girl turned and got up, she walked towards some mortals and they all walked away. I was going to follow them but a loyd clang of falling crutches woke me. Had I just seen Emily?

As I see Katie wake up, I whisper, "I'm sorry, Katie. It's just me. Go back to sleep, love. It's okay." I can't get up because my stupid crutches just banged on the ground, but I say all that I can to comfort her.

I watch in confusion. The first thing that confused me was Alexia contentiously referring to Katie's baby as a sunburn. If that's all that Katie saw her baby as, then why did she make us swear to save it from harm? I cursed in my head for being so young. It made it hard to think things through. I decided to ask the second thing out loud, since they were both awake now. Tonight I was sleeping with the others, in my old bunk, because I feared my room would bring back those dreams. "Who's Emily?" I ask, innocence melting into my words. Without meaning to, I didn't sound like a leader. I sounded like a little kid.

In shock of the moment, I break down into tears. I try to hold it back, but I have no strength anymore. I feel bad, but I answer through teary eyes. "My twin si-si-sister," I answer, freaking out still. I calm down and try to keep explaining the story quickly. "She got sent a-aw-away when I was sev-even. Out West. She's d-de-dea-dea-dea-dead!" I cry out.

I lean on her and stop crying when I hear her say that she saw Emily. "What are you talking about? You saw her? What do you mean?" I ask, preparing for her to explain. My head was spinning at the moment.

I smile when she says that. "Bright, bright blonde hair? Sparkling blue eyes? Skinny as a twig? That's what she looked like when she was seven, at least." I smile and pray that she was right. That it was Emi-Bear. That she didn't know who she was. That thought killed me, but at least she was safe. Should we save her if she's safe in Washington?

I nod and take my crutches, she so nicely picked up for me, and hug her back even tighter, like it was a contest. She was my angel. "Than you so much, Katie baby. Shouldn't I be healing you, though? I love you so much." My smile brightens even more, and I think of happy memories with Emily. Arguing with her about fashion, singing the words to silly songs we'd make up, dressing alike until we could think for ourselves....
