| STOP THE WHOLE WORLD FROM TURNING INTO A MONSTER Here it comes, the first of many. Deep in the forest, if one would venture that far, lay a mystery to be solved.
The smell hit like a plague, a stench of blood once again polluting the once fresh air. At first it was only a faint metallic scent but if one would be brave enough to investigate, they would find that the deeper into the forest they went, the stronger it became - and soon they would find that mixed with it was the unmistakeable stench of a rotting corpse.
Because under the canopy of trees lay a spread-eagled body of a boy, his eyes open yet unseeing, with a sword lying inches away from his stiff fingers. | |

Sutton was going into the forest to read because the library was closed. She didn't usually go into the forest this late at night, but she couldn't sleep. She had a few books with her, water, a flashlight, and her sword. She wasn't expecting to see the dead body of a boy. She'd been almost to her usual spot when she the outline of it. She tried to squint her eyes to get a better look at what it was, but she had to get closer to see it. When she saw was the corpse, she screamed. You'd have to be deaf to not hear it. Her books and flashlight had dropped to the floor when she fell on her butt. She'd never seen a dead body before. So many questions started while if around her mind. What was she supposed to do? Was it the same thing that attacked those campers and the Hera cabin leader? What was he sound this late at night in the forest? Why is his neck turned like that? She felt like she was going to throw up.
Sutton didn't know any first aid, but she knew he was definitely dead by the way his eyes were staring blankly at the sky. Was she supposed to check his pulse? She didn't know how to do anything like that. She had to tell someone, but what would happen if the monster came back and took the body with it? Someone had to believe her because no one lied about a dead body in the middle of the forest. Everyone was still mostly asleep so there was no way someone might've accidentally heard her loud scream. She didn't know if she should look around for another body. Her eyes welled up with tears because she felt bad for the boy. No one deserves to die like this, when no one knew your death. No one wouldn't have found his body if it weren't for her. Sutton sat there for a few minutes, contemplating what to do. She felt so lost and scared.
