my eyes are black and red

IM CRAWLING BACK TO YOU BABE
Several days had passed since Ashton had discovered the horror scene atop Halfblood Hill. Some were calling her the grimm reaper for being the first to walk upon such a catastrophe, poking fun at the girl's paternal lineage. Ashton never was one for Hades jokes, so she'd been distancing herself from the disaster. She didn't like the attention it brought her, either. She'd been one of the campers who actually leant themselves to helping the wounded, despite no one being able to comprehend what had befallen them. Camp was buzzing with rumors—about the injured, about those who helped on the hill, about those who cured in the infirmary—yet there were no definite answers.
It was just a tragedy turned miracle. That's how Ashton drew it up in order to remain sane. She didn't feel attached to the circumstances shaping everyone around her. She didn't feel it was necessary to continue to look after those who were already better. She'd done what she needed to to ensure the survival of her fellow campers, but she didn't want to give anyone the opportunity to continue linking her to the disaster. That was, except for the promise she had made to a girl on the hill. A promise of a reunion, a return. The guilt Ashton felt for not following up on her word ate at her until she finally walked back through the infirmary doors.
A lot had changed since the first day she'd accompanied all of the victims. There was no chaos upon entering the doors on this day. There was no panic, no anxiety. A couple campers had already been released. All others were making recoveries. There was peace in the infirmary. There was relief, and the positivity was tangible. Ashton poked around until she had wondered to the back where the once dying campers had been placed as they healed on their own time. Ashton burst into a smile when she saw the girl she'd helped save, alive. "You look great," Ashton cooed as she approached Aaliyah, before dropping her smile and putting out her hand. "I'm not sure if you remember me from the hill, but I'm Ashton. We met, um.. sort of. You look great now," Ashton wasn't very good at making friends. She'd ran with a bad crowd in the real world and now, trying to be genuine, she wasn't sure what to say that wouldn't make the girl uncomfortable. Did she even have any recollection of the events on the hill? Should she have really just kept to herself instead of returning to visit?

Aaliyah was extremely bored at the infirmary. They told her all she was supposed to do was eat, heal, and sleep. She always had to be doing or reading something, part of being a daughter of Athena. Some of her half-siblings had brought books for her to read, but every time she moved just a little bit, a pain shot through her entire body. She was feeling better than when she was found on the hill, but she wished she'd heal just a bit faster. Aaliyah heard one of the girls found on the hill got to leave because she was a daughter of Ares and had a high pain tolerance. She could only dream about having that power.

With all the alone time she had, she couldn't help but wonder had someone told her step-mother yet?Aaliyah definitely wanted to tell her the first chance she got, but she didn't want her to worry that much.  She had enough to worry about with the five other children she lived with. Aaliyah felt bad, she wished she could help more, but after this, she was just a bit terrified. She knew the sayings, don't let fear run your life and things along the lines of that. She tried to think of what happened before she ended up on the hill. She could remember absolutely nothing. It was just starting to get her even more and more frustrated.

Aaliyah tried to take a break from thinking and attempted to get her mind off it by reading. She was in the middle of reading Shakespeare when someone she recognized from the hill a few days ago came to her bedside. She closed the book with a soft thud and put it on the empty space on the bed next to her. She hadn't expected Ashton to come back, she was thankful she did though. Back on the hill, Aaliyah had barely seen her through her one eye. She got a clear picture of her now, and Aaliyah gave her a smile. "Of course I remember you. Thank you again for everything on the hill." She responded with a bright smile. "How have the last few days been?"

Ashton was relieved to find Aaliyah in good spirits. She didn't know the girl at all, only seen her around camp, but she still felt personally attached. "I told you you'd make it," Ashton teased with a genuine grin. Ashton was sort of in denial that everyone had survived, as she had been so sure she'd felt the tug-o-imminent death atop the hill on that disastrous morning, but she was through worrying about what could have been. "To be honest, I've been in a constant state of anxiety about you guys." Ashton squinted her face into a bemused smile and nodded towards a chair. "Do you mind if I sit with you? Don't want to interrupt your reading," Ashton looked down at Aaliyah's book and shrugged.
The daughter of Hades lacked friends at camp. It wasn't that she was antisocial, or unlikable, or even awkward. She was a capable social being. But she hadn't found a chance to connect with anyone yet, had been so focused on bettering herself that she'd gotten caught up completely. Ashton missed company. She was slightly desperate to get to know the red head she'd saved. "I thought you might be kind of bored stuck in here."

Aaliyah smiled at the Ashton's words. She didn't she would've made it if it weren't for Ashton. She still remembered what she told her on the hill a few days ago. She almost thought her life was over. She hadn't realized how easily she could die or be taken away from the world. It really made her think about it. "How are the other people? How many of us actually were there?" She hadn't been told much about the other demigods that were found on the hill with her. She heard of some of them before, but she didn't know them personally. She wondered, were they hurt as badly as she had been? Aaliyah couldn't remember what had happened before she got attacked. It was just a big blank. She was leaving camp to visit her family, a big blank, and the she somehow ended up on the hill. It was starting to frustrate her. "Does anyone else remember what happened before the attack?" She inquired curiously.

Aaliyah nodded her head. "Of course. Take a seat wherever you'd like. It wasn't reading anything good." She said answering her question. She'd read the book a few times already before. Besides, she'd rather talk to Ashton than read. "Oh yeah, it gets boring after a day. Not much to do here other than sleep." She responded with a laugh. After that she said that, there seemed to be an awkward pause. Being a daughter of Athena, she was so used to just sticking her head in a book all the time. "You know," Aaliyah started saying, "I don't know much about you. I only know that you're a daughter of Hades."
