Son of Hecate
Toby's nerves were on end, and he couldn't seem to calm himself down. Even in the warmth of his cabin his hands shook as he tied his brown boots. His spine gave quivers now and then and he had to grit his teeth together, his muscles everywhere tense. He hiked a backpack over his shoulder that held bags of food, some medical supplies, and his wand inside. When he double-checked that he had everything, he decided it was time to depart. He wound his way out of his room and through the front door of his cabin.
Chiron had assigned teams of Demigods to search the woods. It was apparent that the centaur was distressed with recent events, and was desperate enough for assistance that he picked any volunteer he got. As he walked, it was impossible for Toby to think of anything other than the last time he had tried to help the camp in its time of need during a war between demigods and monsters. He had lost his hearing, for a while, and was close to losing his life had Finn not saved him. He didn't know what he'd been thinking signing up for this. Maybe he just figured it was a good chance to redeem himself.
Approaching the edge of the woods, he didn't see anybody else gathering. He must have been the first of his team to arrive. He came to a stop, and glanced around. He didn't see anyone who looked like they were ready for a search. Toby was a little bit skeptical that they'd even find anything in the forest. Or maybe it was just his hopes. Toby pulled his black coat tighter around his body and let out a small sigh, leaning his shoulder against the trunk of a pine.

Paxton Prince | Paxton didn't know many people, and he certainly hadn't known the Hera cabin leader when she was alive. But after she passed, he felt awfully obligated to go to her funeral. He had, but it wasn't a decent replacement for knowing her. The demigod had only truly known a handful of people in his life, and it was difficult to sympathize with someone when they were dead. That didn't stop him from volunteering for the search parties. It was the heroic thing to do, after all.
When the day came, the teenager came equipped with weapons, heavy clothing and granola bars, anticipating a rough journey, no matter how short. Nothing could be predicted now, because everything was different about this enemy. Paxton had grasped the concept that Kalina wasn't an inexperienced fighter. She should've won, but she didn't. He didn't want that to happen to him, his life was far from over.
As he strode over to the Northern edge of the forest, Paxton felt the chill of winter on his cheeks. Despite being a son of Khione, he hated the cold. It made his fingers numb and his throat dry. When he finally did reach the meeting spot, he noticed he wasn't the first one there. "Hello, I'm Paxton," the demigod said, extending a hand for the boy to shake.

When the news of Kalina’s death spread around camp, Blake Grey stayed in her cabin for days on end. The reason behind this wasn’t because she was so emotionally invested with the girl that she couldn’t possibly continue to live without her in her life, no, she was just very tired. As an eighteen year old, Blake found most of the children here to be quite juvenile, and she would rather not associate with them. While holed up in her room, the demigod watched a lot of Netflix, because that was how she entertained herself nowadays. Normally the girl wouldn’t like to sit around and do nothing, her bones ached for adventure and her insides longed for the sweet taste of danger. However, the camp leaders decided to keep everything about Kalina’s death very hush hush, as if they didn’t want to upset any campers about the truth behind her death. Blake called bullshit on that many times at dinner, very loudly and very rudely. Keeping them from the truth wasn’t going to protect them, it was going to get them killed, and she would be damned if she wasn’t going to go down with a fight. So, when the opportunity arose to go exploring in the forests, Blake jumped at the chance. After all, carpe diem and all that shit.
She walked towards the meeting point where Blake was supposed to see two other kids. Honestly she wasn’t here to make friends, and she probably wouldn’t care if her partners died. Blake would have much rather preferred to pick her own sidekicks, because that’s what they were to her, sidekicks. The daughter of Zeus was always the hero of the story, extremely beautiful and righteous and powerful, and she was nothing less. Clad in black boots, pants, shirt, and a jacket, Blake sauntered through the trees like she owned the entire forest. The backpack that was hiked on her shoulders held very little supplies, a canteen of water, a couple of MRE’s, granola bars, and a blanket. As a girl who had been abandoned at an early age and left to fend for herself, Blake knew all about survival and didn’t need a lot of things. The blanket was not only for keeping warm if they were here for a couple of days, but also to cover their tracks. Everyone knew that whatever was out here wasn’t stupid in the slightest, and Blake wouldn’t want to make the mistake of leaving their tracks behind.
The others were already there when the demigod arrived. Never one for theatrics or apologies, the daughter of Zeus didn’t say sorry for being late. No matter what one of them would have been late either way, and there was no use yelling and getting into a fight about it. The two boys were complete strangers to Blake, though she suspected they would have to become allies if they were to last even an hour here. “I’m Blake, daughter of Zeus.” She addressed her companions, crossing her arms over her chest. Even if they were allies at the end of this, they were never going to be friends. Blake didn’t have time for friends, nor did she want any. They were just collateral damage in the end, always breaking your heart even if you tried to stop it from happening. The demigod looked at the sky and then back at the boys. “We can’t waste time, let’s go before we’re killed."
