Evelyn Willard
Evelyn yawned. The day had been so tiring, her knees felt weak. She plucked a strawberry and popped it into her mouth. She immediately cringed at the memory of her nanny screaming at her for doing that for the sake of "Manners, Evelyn." Shaking her head, the thoughtful demigod laid her head in a small patch in a secluded corner of the fields. She closed her eyes and tried not to think.
That proved difficult, though. Her mind drifted back to her time in the Lotus. It had been so fun at the time, but now she saw it as nothing but a horrid prison. It had taken her what felt like forever to get used to the modern world. She heard footsteps, and she jumped. She hadn't been expecting someone to find her hiding place.

Strawberries had always been a delicacy that Simon only got to enjoy once or twice. They lived far enough away from towns so that they couldn’t go to the market everyday and buy them whenever they pleased, and his family and him were livestock farmers, not vegetable or fruit farmers. When Benjamin decided to have a ball at their small house, he had their cook make a strawberry shortcake for dessert, as well as other things. While Simon and Tessa were much too young to enjoy or understand the festivities that went on around them that night and were sent up to their rooms long before any of the guests arrived, they always managed to sneak in some elegant food. Simon even dared to pluck some strawberries off the cake and pop them in his chubby little mouth before darting upstairs as fast as his tiny legs could take him. When Tessa pulled him from England to the lotus casino, the demigod was amazed at the mass amount of food they had procured. Europe was in war, yet America seemed to have all the good stuff like stuffing and champagne and strawberries. It was there that Simon indulged himself. There was never a day or night that the boy had at least one strawberries, and they always seemed to be in season as well.
Now, here at camp, the fruit was very different. They were all frozen with winter’s grasp and looked quite unnatural. The frosty designs were pretty, certainly, but he didn’t like the way the ice crystals poked up on the red skin, hiding the berry underneath. They were cold too, and though there were some dishes that called for frozen strawberries, he preferred them warm and summer kissed. These were not real strawberries, and still Simon went to the fields everyday and stuffed himself. Whenever he had free time and was able to get away from Kronos, he always went here. Usually he was alone, but that wasn’t the case today. The boy had spotted a girl among the leaves. A girl he knew.
“Evelyn?” Simon asked surprised, as he helped her to sit up. “What are you doing here?” He and Evelyn met at the lotus casino and found that they had a lot in common. Like, for instance, how they were both from an area of the United Kingdom and ergo both had similar accents. They also were from the same time period, though their views on their war probably varied greatly. While Simon craved bloodshed and battle, the girl probably didn’t. Even so, it was nice to know a person from 1914 who wasn’t your snobby, stuck up, and bossy sister.

She glanced up, and was quite surprised at what she saw. "Simon?" It was shocking. "You're a demigod too?" She stared at the gray sky, slowly darkening to signify evening. Placing another berry into her mouth, she winced at the coldness. "So, long time no see..." She turned to her old friend, and the corners of her mouth turned to form a small smile.
Sorry it's so short... I'll try not to make a habit of it.
