Faye McJean
Faye normally enjoyed the Capture the Flag Game, as it presented her with the chance to display her creative strategic talents. As far as strategy went, she adored it, and would always devote her time to lending a hand for her team. However, today she was tired, and her shoulder seemed sore. Her sleep had been another one plagued with memories of the near apocalypse. The images seemed to blur together, and each dream seemed to slip into the next, leaving her emotionally numb all over. The girl had gotten used to the effect though, and did her best to put a smile on her face each morning despite how she actually felt.

Fixing one strap on her chest plate at a time, the girl listened to her team's plan, putting in her advice when needed or asked for. Faye had been trying to take the passenger's seat when it came to cabin six now, because Quell was leader, not her. No matter her occasional urge to put input in, she had to remind herself that it wasn't always needed. Faye was sent out search for the other team's flag, which surprised her. She was normally sent to guard their flag, not search for one. But, she followed orders, against her urges to decline the position. Faye's feet shuffled out over a few hills, through trees littered with shadows and birds, and out to where the sound of a creek could be heard.

A low ponytail held back her black hair, keeping her hair away from the pesky breeze. A red plume was visible from her helmet, and no matter how annoying the headgear was, she kept it on so she could be recognized as a member of the soon to be winning team. Despite the fact that it was basically magic against might, she still had total faith in her team. Quell had picked a winning team, this she had to assure herself. Faye had troubles letting go of the cabin's control, but she would have to get used to it.

At the sound of the conch, Faye got into a battle position and fully observed her surroundings. Trees, a few bushes, and the sound of water were what she based her movements on. She planned to go closer to the sound of water, and then to follow the crick wherever it lead her. However, she had to find the water first. Faye walked softly, her footsteps barely making a sound as she went. The occasional rustle of brush or snap of a twig could be heard, but she ignored it. If she was found, she'd fight.

Son of Hecate

Toby had limited experience in capture the flag. He had hardly anyone he knew on his team, since he tended to isolate himself. The only person he did know was on the opposite team. And so, when it came time to pick positions, he was the last to be assigned. The defenders and searchers were picked first, followed by a party to be stationed at the left and the right flank. Next were scouters. Those who were not to search but rather keep an eye on the enemy and report movements. A very intricate position, but nevertheless, important. Toby, however, was given such a menial job that he doubted if it mattered at all. He had been assigned the guard on the far end of the river. The river separated the two team's territories, and he was supposed to stop anyone from crossing it.

Toby undid the straps on his helmet and sat it down on a rock beside where he was sitting. Nobody had crossed the river since the game had started, and his legs had gotten tired while he was standing. A sword lay a couple feet in front of him on the pebbles. He did not like using swords whatsoever, but it had been shoved into his hand by his cabin leader, the captain of the blue team. She insisted that everyone be properly armed. He snorted at this, but it made her even more insistent. He had used a battle-ax once before...

Maybe Toby was paranoid, but a snap of a twig somewhere across the river made him jump from his seat. He stood, still as a statue, staring across the water. When no danger presented itself, Toby quickly and quietly ducked behind the rock on which he had just been sitting. He grabbed his helmet and fastened it on. He definitely did not want to be caught off guard.

Gods, what are you doing, Toby? he asked himself. The last time he had been in a battle, it was a traumatizing experience. Fire, monsters, blood, and screaming all contributed to nightmares that he now had. In that battle he had lost his hearing, and almost his life. Of course, this battle was a little more toned down. The opposing campers were only trying to injure you, not kill you. He still was having trouble bringing himself to fight, though.

As if answering the snap of the twig, there was movement beyond the river. An animal, perhaps? Monster? Toby sunk even lower behind the stone at the thought of the second option. Then, he saw a clash of red plume against the green background of shrubbery. Biting his lip, Toby watched. What was he supposed to do? His eyes flickered to the sword laying a couple feet away, and his blood turned ice cold. She is going to see it, he thought, frantically. And I will be unarmed.

His hand moved to his back pocket and his fingers touched the smooth wood of his wand, his only weapon now.

Faye McJean
Faye's eyes followed along the edge of the small crick, seeing the slow movement of water through the  cattails and other aquatic plants. She stepped down, sword in hand as she felt her feet sink into the mud a little. Spring had done the area good, but apparently didn't like Faye's shoes very much. She shrugged, ignoring the feeling of water seep into her Nike's. Scanning the area as she went, the girl noticed the gleam of a sword along the bank, as it opened into a more beach-like shoreline. Farther up the river she noticed the figure of someone with a red helmet beside them.

She knew that he saw her, she cold tell by the way he tensed up. Faye smiled, rushing forward to kick the weapon into the stream with the flick of her ankle. "Excuse me, I'll just be sneaking through, don't mind me," Faye said slowly, a smile sneaking up the sides of her face. Her confidence might've been a little high with that comment, but it dropped at the sight of the boy reaching into his back pocket.

There was a number of things that he could be reaching for, something to turn into a weapon, a knife maybe, or ... something else. Basically, the girl was left to wait for him to show whatever it was. However, he didn't strike her as a fighter. Faye had seen plenty of those types, with their broad shoulders and well-toned muscles; and while this guy may be a demigod, he didn't seem like that type. It didn't help that she didn't know him either, but maybe she'd get around to it after the game.

Her grip on her sword tightened, as she got into a defensive position, allowing her to move quickly enough to dodge or attack. Hopefully Faye didn't have to to either of those. She'd much prefer just walking by and continuing on her way. Her muscles still ached from yesterday's training sessions, and she wasn't in the mood to fight.
