Tiberius laid on the bench of the cabin courtyard, a book in his hands and glasses on the bridge of his nose. He didn't really need them, he had 20/20 vision, but they made him look more intelligent and sophisticated, which, after all was what the demigod strived for. He had been neglecting his victorian roots that had tied him to his family. The branches of the era were beginning to wither around them as the winter winds of the 21st century blew around them. Ty, no matter how much he had started to love hashtags and modern technology, knew that his true nature lay in the dirt of the victorian era. The book was of the same nature. The Picture of Dorian Gray. By Oscar Wilde, naturally. The main character had always held a special place in Tibs' heart, mostly because he thought they were two sides of the same coin. Both beautiful, one using his youth to his advantage, the other trying to shoo it away like lions swat flies. Still, Tiberius loved the book, and it was evident at the many dog ears and rips and tears it had gained over the years.

Situating himself, Ty crossed his long and lanky legs, sending sparks of protest to shoot up his limbs, as if the very thought of moving was going to disable him from walking. It had been a couple of days, and the physical damage was fading. The black and blue and purple bruises were fading, they weren't long lasting and Tiberius hadn't sustained any critical damage done to his system, thank Gods. He wasn't immortal, but his body couldn't stand to have a cut or blemish on it for more than three days. He thought it was just another Aphrodite gene pushed into his DNA. However, the mental damage was done, and it wasn't ever going away. Being captured did something to you, and almost being beheaded scrambled your brain until you were a sobbing, heaping mess just ready to give up. Ty had a nightmare last night, about the blade actually swinging down and seeing his soul float above his now dead body. It was a horrible thought to have, but Tibs couldn't help it.

A nice breeze ran across the young demigod. It was a nice spring day, one of the few that Tiberius actually wanted to be outside for. He didn't like the outside usually. Too much germs and dirt for his liking, but today was just perfect and couldn't be missed. Camp wasn't like New York; there were plenty of open spaces to sit at and you never felt crowded. Plus, there wasn't accented yelling and honks of cars that were too backed up to get anywhere. Tiberius no longer felt like he was choking on the sight and smells of the city. He turned another page, the paper so familiar between his soft and smooth hands. It was odd that the paper was more than than the boy was, but Ty never wanted to be tan. It caused skin cancer and you lived longer if you looked like a ghost. Go figure. His mother would probably scream at his pallor if she ever saw him, but Aphrodite tended to ignore Tibs. Which, you know, was fine, because Tiberius only really needed one person to make him happy.

You could see that he was clearly in love with said person. The way his ever changing irises lit up whenever someone mentioned her name was reason enough to know that Tiberius was head over heels for Quinn Taylors. But he played it cool, and never mentioned his affection. In the victorian era, men usually made the first move, but this century was different, and Tiberius couldn't be expected to lay his heart out on the line. He was shy. He was afraid. Ty didn't want Quinn to stop liking him because he loved her, and so he stayed quiet. Though, Tibs thought that she shared his feelings because they kissed. Well, she kissed him, not the other way around. But then once they came back to camp they stopped hanging out for a couple of days, and even though Ty was pining, he stayed away, because he knew that Quinn needed her space. Still, he missed her, and he thought that reading would take his mind off of the girl who stole his heart.

The sun that shined brilliantly across the yellow of the pages like a flare was suddenly diminished. Tiberius looked up, his calm blue eyes looking at the person who blocked his light. Yes, his eyes were blue. they liked to change color, and today they settled on a nice cerulean, his irises were big and bright, though they held a sliver of hurt inside. The person was exactly the one who Tiberius was trying to avoid. Quinn. She stood in front of him, and he smiled. A tiny smile, a sly smile, but a smile nonetheless. "Salutations, Quinn." Ty said, flipping to the next page with a bemused smirk.

Quinn Taylors
Quinn was relieved to be back in the safety of camp, but was still unsure of how she felt about the situation. There wasn't a doubt in her mind that she felt something for Tiberius, that much was obvious. It was obvious in the way she cared for him, even when she didn't. How she immediately checked herself, making sure that she was fit for the perfection that was Tiberius Winters. Of course, the girl wouldn't ever tell him that. She couldn't, for the good of both of them. She knew that he wasn't comfortable by her said 'friends', and she figured that was alright. They could keep their feelings to themselves, and save them for dire situations when they faked death or rebelled against armies. Either one worked.

She took special care in hiding her new scars, the four holes that were filled with tissue, discolored and ugly, yet symmetrical. The fire had no time for such things, that were so obvious and difficult to hide. So, Quinn took extra care in wearing clothing that covered her back, and applied her scar fading cream regularly. The last thing the girl needed was people asking about her scars when she didn't have any answers herself. Trying to forget the event was a lot harder than remembering it, all the time. The demigod would wake up with her skin crawling, like the blood was still drying on her body. Ty's screams filled her nightmares, waking her up in a cold sweat with her lungs gasping for any trace of air.

She tried staying away from Ty, and was quite persistent in her endeavors. The last thing that Quinn wanted was to have to make up and excuse for her hurry. Really, the girl just didn't want to look him in his changing eyes and admit that she was a traitor. He seemed so good and pure to her, something that she could taint and burn until nothing was left. Quinn couldn't hold herself responsible for her actions, especially not the actions that put the fate of camp in danger. She thought that she could hold the power of cabin seven, and of a Kronos' Spy. Her hunger to consume more and more was spiraling out of control, and she could only assume the next thing in her firey path was Ty.

The warm spring days had brought out her new censored style, that was similar to that before Ty's kidnapping. A horizontally striped skirt decorated her lower half, that was colored with a tribal  kind of print. A Minnie Mouse tee shirt covered her top half, and more importantly her shoulders. A pair of sandals decorated her feet, along with bangles of various colors along her wrist. Dark sunglasses finished her look, as she hoped it would warn people to steer away from her, because she was obviously too cool for everyone else. That, and Quinn didn't want to talk to anyone.

Assuming she could simply walk through the cabin courtyard, and avoid anyone was obviously too good of a thought. She caught a glimpse of the certain son of Aphrodite, and fought the urge to continue walking. However, her urge lost, and her feelings won again. Quinn set her sunglasses on the top of her head, which pushed her blonde waves back a little. The book in his hands and the smirk on his face was enough to make her knees weak, but she straightened up and returned the expression.

"Hey," she said swiftly, her voice much more professional then intended. Quinn sounded mechanical in that second, and she hated it. Sighing, she took no words in taking a seat next to the boy, her shoulders slumping as she did so. Shooting arrows would be more difficult than ever now, not that she was great at it before. Really, she was an awful daughter of Apollo. She was an awful cabin leader. She was a power hungry traitor, who didn't deserve the heart that she knew she controlled.

Maybe the worst part of it all was that she knew, deep down, that she could, and would use that heart to get what she wanted. The fire had to keep burning, no matter what was in it's path.

As Quinn went to sit down, Tiberius moved his legs off the bench and sat, ignoring the pain that it caused him. There were worse things than bruises on his legs, and Ty was no wimp when it came to facing them. Sure, he may not have handled said situation to the best of his ability, but he wasn't one to run away from a challenge if it was worth his time. Petty arguments over whose perfume smelt the best didn't hold Ty's interest, and he told his cabin mates to go away every time they came to him with that sort of issue. He didn't care about beauty, and because of that he made a very lousy son of Aphrodite. Oh yes, Tibs heard the whispers behind his back, both girls and boys talked about him and his possible beauty if he just focused more on clothing options and styling his hair. But to Ty, beauty wasn't about enchanting a possible boyfriend or girlfriend with a pound of makeup and a full bottle of hairspray attached to your stiff, branch like hair. Beauty, to him, was natural. After all, it didn't matter how pretty you were when you died. Everyone looked the same, just dust and bones and smelling like a rotting corpse.

Ty held Dorian Gray idly in his hands, opening and closing the cover at his pleasure. The relationship between the book and himself was more clear to Tiberius than the bond that he and Quinn currently possessed. Maybe it was because he was an idiot, or maybe it was because he was just to infatuated to see what was truly there. It could be that Quinn didn't really even love him, Ty couldn't tell. Even if she didn't, and their relationship was just purely friends, Tibs would still follow her around like a puppy. Quinn held Ty's heart in her hands, and he thought she knew that. He hoped she did. The demigod boy wouldn't want anyone else to control his heart. He had put unfathomable trust into Quinn, and Ty hoped she would make the best decisions when it came to them and their well being. Of course, even he knew that was a long shot. Quinn wasn't the most honest and trustworthy girl you could meet, and Tibs knew that. He still didn't understand why she had worked for Kronos in the first place. And to tell you the truth he really didn't want to know, he just wanted to know why.

Another breeze flew across the pair, almost knocking off Ty's hat. Contrary to what he said, Tiberius actually cared about his appearance, though he would never, ever, admit it in his entire life. Even if saying  that would save his life, Ty wouldn't say it. To him, being a guy and spending 4 hours in front of a mirror deciding if you wanted to wear a pearl or a white shirt was completely stupid. Though, that's exactly what he did this morning, even though he was just going outside. Tibs couldn't resist a good looking outfit, his brain was hardwired to pick out color combos that complemented everything about him and hid his faults. Though, if he were to be completely honest, physically there were no faults. Aphrodite wouldn't allow for it. Today, Ty wore a plaid shirt made up of blue squares, and he also wore a vest to indicate what time period he wished to live him. He wore khaki pants that went quite well with his wicker hat, and Ty also had on converse.

Quinn, in contrast, was actually dressed in clothes from this time period. Ty wished he could be like her, so popular, so cool, and so likable to some. He hadn't a mean bone in his entire body, and there wasn't a nasty streak to be found. Sure, Tiberius was protective and would die to protect those he loved but that really wasn't the same thing. Everyone, to an extent, had that gene in their DNA. Tibs knew that Quinn was a traitor, but he wouldn't breathe a word to anyone. Ever. That would put the both of them in danger, and Tiberius couldn't handle anything bad happening to Quinn. He was the knight. He had to protect his Queen.

"It's, uh, it's a lovely day." Tiberius stated, turning away from the daughter of Apollo as he said it because he knew that was an idiotic thing to say. They had been through so much together, so surely they could talk about anything and still feel comfortable? But that was the thing, they couldn't talk about anything. Ty was so socially awkward that he messed everything up. "How's your back?" He asked, looking back at her, though directly avoiding her gaze. If he looked into her eyes, he'd melt into the wood of the bench out of love.
ooc- honestly i don't even understand half the crap i wrote. if it seems very ooc, it probably is, and you should just ignore it.

Quinn Taylors
Quinn inhaled and exhaled without much effort, her scars didn't hurt like they had that night anymore. She could breath just fine, even as thoughts burned in her mind and whispered terrible things to her. She couldn't help but feel tainted ever since she let Kronos invade her life with wishes and demands that always seemed to be costly. She gave away information for the idea of being safe from the army's destruction, but was she really safe? The demigod didn't know if she was being played or not.

She did know that the army of the enemy wouldn't mind killing her, or tearing her feelings apart until nothing but rage remained. Quinn noticed it first when Ty was kidnapped, and now she was beginning to realize the extent of her deal. Power had deadly costs. Costs that could be paid in the blood of her loved ones. While the idea of putting her friends in danger terrified her, the idea of protecting them also seemed interesting. She wanted to protect, she wanted to be the hero that some of the kids here were. However, the only thing that Quinn Taylors had gotten herself to be was a selfish traitor who considered herself a queen. And yes, she was aware of all of that.

The wind blew between then, not creating any conversation. She wasn't honestly in the mood for conversation, she just wanted to sit and rest. Despite her abundance of sleep and energy, the cabin leader felt like she was drained, mostly emotionally. The girl didn't know what was right or wrong to feel anymore. She felt numb, like her body had waking up from being dragged into Kronos' camp. Maybe she thought Ty would help her, maybe she just needed something physical and would drag him into a makeout session later. Really, Quinn had no idea what she needed. She just knew that there had to be something to fix her mess of morals and mistakes.

Nodding lazily at his comment, the girl brushed a strand of her hair out of her face and pinned it behind her ear. At the comment about her back, the girl exhaled loudly. "It's healing, I think," Quinn responded dully, tracing the hem of her skirt with her fingers. "It'll probably stay there for a while though," she added with a frown. Okay, this limited conversation sucked.

"Gods, Ty, I just don't know anymore," she burst, shaking her head as she watched campers go past them without a second thought. "I messed everything up, and - and it's bothering the hell out of me," Quinn added, balling her fists as she spoke. "I can't get it out of my head."

Tiberius had never experienced anything really horrid before he came to camp. In fact, his life back in New York was very privileged. He always got what he wanted thanks to his step-mother. There was never any talks of battle plans to destroy the enemy, or threats of kidnapping or anything dangerous that could cost your life. Looking back on it now with the experience that the young boy had, he realized that mortal life was boring. It really was, if you thought about it. As a human, you never really lived and as a god you lived way too much. Demigods got the best of both worlds, and Ty had wanted to make the most of his shortened life fighting monsters and exploring lost lands only known to kids like him. Quinn would've come with him, he would have made her. Tibs had big plans for the future; he knew what he wanted, he knew how to get it, and all he had needed to do was pluck up the courage to take the first step into the abyss. The only thing holding him back was his cowardice.

Of course, that was before the whole Kronos thing happened. Tiberius hadn't been back for even a week, and nightmares had plagued him, forcing him to wake up screaming Quinn's name and drenched in a cold sweat. His siblings were starting to grow worrisome (even more so, Ty knew they thought him odd already) and they tended not to look him straight in the eye anymore when addressing him. Ty had visions of him getting beheaded, and Quinn having to watch. Now, Tibs had no desire to go anywhere outside the borders of camp, and the effect was turning him into the antisocial introvert he had once been before. No longer had Tibs had the urge to become popular, life was too short to please others. Well, except for Quinn. But Quinn was always an exception to most rules.

Tibs knew that there was more emotional damage than anything between the two of them. Physically all their wounds would heal and their scars would fade over the passage of time. Damage to the brain, however, was permanent, and Tiberius would have to live with the fear of losing his sanity just because of this stupid kidnapping. Deep down, Ty knew it was all Quinn's fault, and ergo he should be mad at her, not even wanting to speak to her until she kissed his boot and apologized a hundred times over. But Ty couldn't do that to her. He couldn't be mad because he knew that there was some reason why Quinn did what she did. It may have not been a good reason, but reason enough was what kept Tibs from not screaming in her face. He'd always forgive Quinn Taylors, whether he wanted too or not, there was not a choice in the matter.

Seeing Quinn break down broke his heart. Though this moment was unavoidable, Tiberius wished it could be behind closed quarters, where people couldn't see or hear the pair of them. But that could not be helped now, and so Ty put his arm around Quinn's shoulders and pulled her closer to him. He didn't know if Quinn wanted this contact, but it wasn't just to comfort her; it was also to hold himself together. That night in Kronos' camp changed Tiberius, and he was barely holding himself together. He needed Quinn to catch the broken pieces that chipped off of him like paint. She was the glue, the person who would sew on the buttons of his slowly deflating sanity. Quinn was the person to stop Tibs from slipping into madness, and he liked to think he was the same to her.

"Okay, what part of it is bothering you?" Ty said, trying a therapy session sort of thing with her. It was going to hurt the both of them, but no one really cared about him so he couldn't care about himself. "Is it betraying the camp or almost losing me? It's okay that you don't know. I don't even know. Then again, I really don't know anything, do I?" Ty laughed weakly and smiled, trying to get Quinn to smile or at least ease the tension. Tibs held her closer, as if if he hugged her tightly enough he could stop her from breaking down. Tiberius wasn't good at picking up fragmented pieces, for they would end up cutting his fragile hands.

Quinn Taylors
Quinn could feel the scarred skin on her back, like an itch that would bother her until the tissue fully disappeared, which would take a few more months at least. The wound was deep, but not nearly as deep as the memories that had been carved into the back of her mind. Each scream, drop of blood, scrape of armor, and slice of metal was recorded somewhere in her deepest thoughts. Personally, Quinn wished she didn't have that great of memory. Maybe amnesia victims had it good, they could start over, with no recollection of their memories or faults. Sure, the good was gone, but the bad would vanish. The demigod knew that her faults couldn't go away so easily. They were imprinted on her mind, on the claw marks on her back, and on the ever changing eyes of Tiberius.

The daughter of Apollo was hardly ever opened herself up to be victim to feelings. She preferred to keep them locked away so she could guard them, and appear strong on the outside. Her image wasn't just in the clothes she wore, or the makeup that was painted on her face. It was also in the way she carried herself, with her shoulders straight, her eyes forward, never looking back. However, now she always seemed to be looking back, not just on her constant issues, but so she could find Ty and see where he was. Now that Quinn was open, she needed him more than anything. She trusted him, despite what her head told her. Feelings were awful, but she didn't seem to have a choice in the matter.

The feeling of an arm around her shoulders was also something uncomfortable and foreign to the girl. Sure, she had been in plenty of relationships before, but not like this. Her previous 'loves' consisted of make out sessions and angry fights. Nothing like Ty. Quinn knew that he would always be there for her, even if she didn't want his company. She gently brushed his hand away from her shoulder, glancing upwards to make sure no one saw that. Even if she needed Ty, she didn't need anyone else knowing that. The demigod preferred keeping her relationships to herself, at least this relationship. It was a kind of secret that was only known between the two of them.

His question seemed so unoriginal that she couldn't help but snort at it. What wasn't bothering her? "You don't need to feed me that crap," Quinn muttered stiffly. "I'm not a little girl that needs explaining, I'm a teenager who majorly screwed up," she continued, raising her eyebrows at her own failure. Most teenagers made mistakes, but her mistakes could cost lives. "Shh -" the demigod whispered, observing the crowds around them. She didn't need them hearing any of this. It was her job to keep gossip regulated, the gossip couldn't be about her. "I just need some kind of ... way to get rid of my feelings," Quinn mumbled, looking over at Ty.

T I B E R I U S   W I N T E R S
Tiberius was a sensitive kind of person. His body, though perfect and pale and smooth, bruised easily, making his skin an artists easel for blue and purple splotches. Some of the bruises on his arms and chest had turned yellow overnight, and he refused to take ambrosia or nectar to heal them. Ty didn't want to seem weak, even though on the inside he had about as much backbone as a snake. Battling injuries without means of medicine was just one of the ways he could prove that he was stronger than everyone believed him to be. Maybe by doing this, Tibs could prove that to himself. The day was a little warm for the boy to be wearing a long sleeve shirt and a vest, but he needed to hide the bruises he had attained. By not looking at them, Tiberius couldn't be reminded of the night he spent in the enemy camp. He did it because of Quinn, though he never voiced this because he knew she would just blame it on him. Secretly, deep down, Ty knew it was, he was always messing things up. It was part of his weakness.

But on top of being physically sensitive, Tiberius Winters had the misfortune to also be emotionally sensitive. There was probably a good reason for this, and the reason probably was his father. Bradley never told Ty that feelings were okay, and so the boy had grown up with ice in his heart. That ice had never gone away, and he knew it never would. But Quinn managed to melt around the edges, bringing some warmth and light on Tibs' frozen and dull life. He'd never been more thankful, but she'd never know. He'd never tell her because showing affection was a weakness. Up until now, Tiberius had completely forgot that lesson of his father's. Perhaps it was time to reeducate himself in the ways of Bradley Winters. These thoughts had all come from one simple action; Quinn rejecting Ty. It wasn't unusual, in fact, in was quite normal for the pair of them not to revel their feelings. But Tibs thought that the kiss had somehow changed the way they talk to each other. However, it really hadn't changed anything. Ty was still a shy boy, too quiet and sensitive for his own good, and Quinn was still a stubborn girl, too proud to admit her feelings.

Even though Ty knew it was going to happen sooner or later, being rejected still hurt. It wasn't even a big thing, just Quinn nudging his arm off her shoulder. Ty knew that, and he also knew he shouldn't let the hurt inside of himself get to his brain and turn him into the ice that was inside his heart, but it was so hard not to succumb. Unlike Quinn, Tibs had no problem expressing his feelings of love and happiness, although that wasn't what he felt now. To be quiet honest, the love struck boy felt put down and useless, because if Quinn didn't want him, who would? But Tiberius wouldn't let the hurt show. He wouldn't let the wounds of being rejected slip through his skin like cracks. This conversation could go two ways, down the sunshiny road where everything was rainbows and glitter and Ty would always be there for Quinn no matter what. Well, the being there for her part would never really change no matter what path they took. That was the easy road, the road that Tibs wanted to take. The darker, more winding and twisted road however, would produce much more results between the two of them, even though there would be lots of broken hearts and stomped on feelings. Tiberius decided to go down the darker road.

"Yeah okay, whatever." Ty said, his voice low. He let the book cover fall for a final time before finally standing up. He looked at Quinn, the sun who had melted the ice in his heart. For a moment he wanted to abandon his mission and do whatever she wanted to do. But Tiberius could no longer afford to be sensitive anymore. He had to be strong. Regarding the last sentence Quinn said, Tibs started to walk away back towards his cabin. "Why don't you shut people out, then? You're good at that." He called over his shoulder, but after that, he never turned back. He was angry. Angry at Quinn for not opening up, even after multiple attempts on his part. Ty was angry at himself for being so stupid. Just like that, the ice wrapped around his heart again, making him an unfeeling sophisticated person that his father had always wanted him to be.

Quinn Taylors
Quinn sat there, her eyes looking vacantly out at the passing demigods, weakly waving to the ones that she knew. She didn't talk to her popular friends much, heck, for her, she had become dormant. The once party - happy daughter of Apollo had been reduced to a numb mess of anger and guilt. Not that she would ever tell anyone but Ty, of course. No one else needed to know how she really felt. As long as she supplied weak alcohol and a good time, most of them could care less. She could've cared less too, but that was before Kronos. Now, she felt like her eyes had been painfully opened to the horrors of the world she lived in.

Watching the soldiers walk by from their afternoon training sessions reminded her of another truth, that camp could so easily go on without her. The sun would still rise in the morning, and the moon would still rise in the evening; without her. She was just a side effect of her father's love affair, would had just so happened to fall into a position of leadership. And then, y'know, betray camp, but that was totally irrelevant in her mind at that moment in time. None the less, looking at campers walk by made Quinn Taylors feel very small. She hated feeling small, like she didn't matter. She would matter, if she had to spell it out across the cabins.

In all the time she had gotten to know Tiberius Winters in the last few months, she hadn't ever heard him say 'whatever'. Whatever wasn't a very formal word, and it wasn't like him to use such wording. The sound of his book cover shutting caused the demigod to straighten up a bit, and to cast a look of confusion at the boy beside her.Her confusion spread to eyebrows as they knitted together at the sight of the boy leaving from his spot behind her. No one walked out on Quinn, she always got the last word. Right? At least, that's what normally happened...

"You would know," she called back, removing her filter from her thought stream. No one just left Quinn Taylors sitting alone. No, she'd fight back with all of her claws if she could. "Oh wait, you'd actually have to let someone in to know, wouldn't you?" she added, smirking as she said so. Maybe her comments were lame, and not nearly as harsh as they could've been, but it gave the demigod satisfaction. With that, she turned on her heel, retreating back to her cabin, or maybe better yet, her other friends. Friends she could actually be mad at and argue with.
