The Festival of Lights The Festival of Lights was set up to honor the brave half-bloods who gave their lives in the zombie apocalypse. A row of tables lies along the dunes, with lanterns crowding them. It is almost dark and the small flames shine brightly, reflecting on the edge of the Long Island Sound. On over 50 lanterns, half-bloods visiting the arts and crafts shack have painted the symbol of the fallen demigod's parents and their first name. written in neat Greek A grey owl has been carefully drawn out onto the delicate paper surrounding the lanterns for a dead child of Athena and so on. Family members of the fallen are given these special lanterns to release all at once.
There are more than 50 lanterns at the tables though. There are enough so that any demigod could come and say their blessings by writing the names of their dead comrades in sharpie on the surface and then releasing these lanterns. Once this is done, all the lanterns will go up towards Olympus together, finally releasing the dead spirits towards Hades.

| kylee abigail reeds Kylee's sea colored eyes passed over several of those who were wandering about the beach, her beach, in her mind. Today, unfortunately, was not the day for arguing. The Chinese Lanterns were filling up tables scattered across several yards' worth of sand, blocking the thing she loved the most. Pretending like she did care was hard, seeing all of the crying faces was worse. She did care, sometimes. The tear-stained faces weren't the only ones to loose a few loved ones in the zombie invasion. She had as well, but it only had made her stronger, literally. Kylee's sword had recently been redone and improved by a grateful member of cabin nine. Needless to say, the demigod felt more powerful and in control than ever. Still, she knew it would be frown upon if she didn't come and show some form of support. Shoving through people, despite her gentler attempts, Kylee glanced at the lanterns. She tried to remember if someone she had known died. The demigod assumed someone did, but who? She didn't know. The only thing she did know was that camp was being turned upside down, and everyone needed support, even the seemingly confident daughter of Poseidon. outfit layout and graphics (c) sapphire | |
