brooklyn didn't have much of an excuse for being at the dance, but that she loved to be around people. There were dozens of other places she could have been at that point but everyone was here, and she oddly loved the loud music and fierce lights. It wasn't comforting but more as a rush, and she lived for that sort of feeling. She knew just enough people here that she could have a good time, even without having a date to be with. No one had asked her and she was perfectly okay with that. If someone were to have asked her, she probably would have said no anyway. Dates meant you had to stick with them, instead of gliding freely from group to group. That, however, didn't mean she would refuse someone had they asked her to dance.
brook hadn't really gone all out when it came to what she had decided was fit to be worn. She didn't have many options and had just ended up borrowing a dress from a friend and wearing her own combat boots. The dress was light purple in color and had one full sleeve for the right arm. It was a sort of swaying type of dress, very loose at the skirt, but fitted at the top. It was shorter in the front and longer in the back. She tried not to think much of it, but in the back of her mind she questioned this sort of clothing. As comfortable and nice the dress had been, it felt a little odd, and not right. But that was the same sort of feeling she had when she wore jeans, so brook had just shook it off.
At this time she had a bit of sweat forming on the back of her neck, despite the cold night it had been when outside the hall. It gave her a good excuse to take a break from being in the large clump of people to get a cold drink. If brook was to describe the sensation of the way they were dancing, it may have been awkward. She loved it, but she couldn't have helped but felt it was sort of wrong, not really what she was used to in most ways. the daughter of hecate tried not to ponder much on it because she felt the same way about most things and was sure it had been connected with her past, of which she knew little of.
once at the place where drinks were out to be served freely, brook was able to push many things from her mind. Taking a glass off of the table she filled it with water. Not having really decided a specific table to sit down at on arrival, she decided on an open seat, far from the speakers, just for herself to enable a bit of thought to be able to travel to and from her mind. The music was distracting, but once at a safe distance, she thought that maybe it would seem like a normal background tune, just a bit louder than any usual music player would produce.
Once having her eyes set on her destination, she wasn't too aware of where she was going and who and what was around her. brook, being the klutz she was, bumped into someone, and dropped her glass of water. As her mind quickly snapped back to reality and she realized what had just happened, she mentally cursed herself and quickly fashioned an apology, before her eyes snapped to where her water should have fallen and created a mess. "I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed, but her shock broadened as she realized her glass had sort of frozen in mid fall, about a foot from the ground. was that me again, or is someone watching out for me? Brook quickly snatched the glass out of mid air and straightened once more, facing the person she had run into, uttering another apology and sporting an embarrassed smile.

the satyr truly wasn't lying when he told isaac about being trapped in the lotus hotel & casino for over 80 years. after plucking up the courage to go to stag for the winter dance, he quickly fished out an old suit of his', the kind he would've worn back in the 20's, together with a powder blue button down and a azure tie to match. if he were still in the jazz age, he would've added a hat to top the outfit off, but the seventeen year old was still learning to cope with contemporary times, so he ditched the idea.
isaac was having a hard time transitioning to the new era. the clothing style, music, and the manner of interaction change. new discoveries have embedded a stigma in your normal person's life today. teenagers were spoiled now and hardly had jobs, like he did when he was 14. he hadn't realized how simple his life was back in brooklyn in the 1920's. he didn't want to admit it, but he missed his old life. sure, he could conduct a research on modern technology with just the click of a button and he didn't have to work his butt off to get some rubes, but he had missed the easygoing lifestyle. most of all, he missed the company of his father. apparently, his father brought him to the hotel to protect him from the consequences of living during the great depression. after losing all his money, the man killed himself without much a thought about his only boy. it took isaac all his might to not break down and cry in his cabin just at the thought of his dad. instead, he took a deep breath, muttering words of encouragement to himself, before getting up and strolled out of his cabin.
he didn't know what to expect when he entered the doors of the mess hall. the first thing that took him off was the flashing lights. frowning, he wondered how those things worked. he's heard of the term led lights before, but he noted about googling about them later on.
what was worse was the music playing. the stereo blasted some song where the artist just hollered a string of profanities rapidly. is this what teenagers listened to nowadays? yup. he was definitely missing the golden age. he shook his head. perhaps he could skip the dance floor until a more appropriate song is put on.
maybe he'd find some peace at the snack bar, where a familiar red bottle caught his eye. coca-cola was probably the only thing in the room he found familiar, aside from his fellow campers. the sight of the carbonated drink made him relax a bit as he shuffled to the snacks, longing for the bubbly fizz in his mouth.
on his way over, he collided with another person. gods. that's what he gets for not watching where he was going! he was cursing himself internally when his reverie was interrupted by a glass stopping midair.
as a demigod, you'd have to get used to a lot of strange events occurring, but none of his training or lessons prepared him for such a thing. his eyes averted from the glass to a girl who started to apologize. "no, no. everything is jake. it's my fault anyway," he started to say, but when his eyes flickered to the girl's face, isaac couldn't help but squint his cobalt eyes. "pardon me, miss, but you look very familiar. have we met before?"
normally, he would've stopped himself from speaking like he was still living in the 20's, but at the sight of the familiar face of the girl, he couldn't help but speak in his native tongue. surprisingly to him, coca-cola wasn't the only thing he had seen before.

brook hadn't really expected much of a reaction other than a simple shrug, a nod, or maybe a mutual apology before the person set off again and continued to do whatever it was they had been doing. She had decided right away that it was just an accident and it could be disregarded easily. But it didn't happen that way, and at first it surprised her. She hadn't given it much thought, though, until she really had a chance to look up into the eyes of the boy she had run into.
Right away something went off in her mind, like a bell or a buzzer. She definitely had seen this boy once, maybe even twice, before. Slowly, her smile faded to a subtle expression as she thought for a while, wondering why he might have felt the same way, and thought they would have met before this moment. it was puzzling to her because before this moment, she could have sworn she had never seen the boy before. but even with the curious feeling, brook couldn't place it. her memory was cloudy and probably damaged as it was for reasons she was still unsure of. the whole situation made her head throb slightly, but she was able to push that sensation away.
there was a silence that had hung between the two of them for a moment until brook remembered that he had actually asked her a question. blinking a couple of times, trying to see if she could recall something in the last few seconds she had to answer, she couldn't come up with much. "I don't think so," brook said, trying to soften her facial expression even further so it didn't seem that she was staring. "I mean, I we may have, but I, uh, don't really remember."
It wasn't much of an answer, if that's even what you could call it. She felt silly because of the way she had responded to such a simple question. She could have simply said no and that would have been the end of it. But she wasn't entirely sure of it all, so why not speak her mind in the answer? There wasn't really any damage she could make from answering the way she did, so why would it matter all that much? It really didn't.
"What is your name?" brook asked without another moment's thought of it. Why not ask? she thought. It didn't matter anyway. It was making the moment a whole lot less awkward. It may hit a string in her head, perhaps. It could get something going and then maybe she could remember just a bit. But if he didn't realize what was going on, the odds of her coming up with something were much smaller than him.

Isaac has seen his fair share of good looking women back in the day, but none of them could compare to the doll standing before him at that very moment. When her emerald eyes met his turquoise ones, his mouth dried. He was certain that he has seen her before. Everything was a blur to him ever since he left the Lotus. It was like trying to remember a dream; the longer you try to recall what happened, the faster it'd disappear from your mind. The idea was frustrating since the answer was on the tip of his tongue. Still, no avail. His mind wandered to different memories, from his old school in Brooklyn in the early 20's to different parties he has attended. He couldn't quite give a name to her face. Yet, he couldn't wipe away the thought about seeing her before. He was so sure of it that he wouldn't even deny it.
He held her gaze until she broke away, blinking rapidly. His mouth formed a little frown at her words. It seemed like she was undergoing the same sensation. His eyes drifted from those bright, doe-like orbs to her lips, He couldn't shake off the feeling and it was starting to bother him. It was a nagging feeling inside of him that he desperately wanted out.
"Isaac. My name's Isaac Brandon," he introduced himself with a small smile. "I think I've seen you in my hometown. Are you from New York? Like around the Brooklyn area?"
Once the words were out, he wished he could've taken them back. He remembered a lot of faces from his old school and this girl was definitely not one of them. Although she probably wasn't from the same era, he frequently visited his hometown and may have seen her around town.

isaac. that didn't bring much to her consciousness, either. Nothing was helping, no matter how long she tried to take in his entire appearance. Not that it was much of a burden to look at him, he wasn't shy of being good looking, that was for sure. His eyes were the specific feature that seemed the most familiar to her, like she had looked at them bright blue orbs before. The thought almost made her blush, but she forced the thought away and went back to the matter at hand. Whatever that was. She just bumped into the guy, why would that be much of a big deal? Maybe it didn't need to be, but for some reason it felt that way.
She was so absorbed in her thought that she totally skipped over introducing herself and went right to his question. Sadly, however it was a question she really couldn't answer. Brook had thought about it enough before, but had never come up with an answer before. She could have been from Antarctica and she wasn't aware of it at all. New York City hadn't ever been a place she would consider being from, especially because she had shown up out of no where from a casino in Las Vegas. That had been the start of all of the confusion for her. She doubted she came all the way from North-Eastern America to end up in Las Vegas. But it could have been possible.
Either way, she shook her head and shrugged lightly. "I really don't know, to be honest." It sounded like a totally absurd answer. Who doesn't know where they came from? This wasn't doing her very well with her whole plan of trying to fit in and not be as different as she knew she was. She hadn't talked to Callie about it all in a while, but both girls were having the same problem, brook just didn't know if her friend was taking everything the same way she was.
"I mean," brook stammered, just realizing how dull of an answer she gave. "I don't know. I mean, I don't remember." She smiled and laughed despite herself lightly. She whirled her finger in a circle once around her temple before dropping her hand again. After that she realized what she did and regretted it instantly. She had not meant to indicate she was crazy, if that's even the way he would take it. She was a nervous talking and was surprised she actually wasn't talking more at this point. Again, she cursed herself mentally.

The Lotus hotel and casino hadn't really helped Isaac in terms of recalling memories. He's always been a clever kid, getting good grades, yet he didn't excel nor fail. After his stay in Las Vegas, however, he's been struggling to remember his past. He felt as if time had fast forward seventy years and he was a grandpa trying to remember his adolescent years. The scenario was similar, but he was still seventeen.
He smiled at her answer. Isaac couldn't help but find the girl, well, kind of attractive. With her curly hair and puzzled expression, she was… cute. "Maybe we should start with introductions," he offered. "I've introduced myself, now its your turn." he winked.
Isaac grabbed her wrist gently and whisked her away to the snack age. He still intended on getting his drink. After he poured the fizzy drink in a cup, he'd brought it to his lips and took a long sip, his blue eyes fluttering closed in the process. "Mmm… reminds me of home," he whispered to himself.
"You seem to be a little balled up at the moment" he observed, chuckling to himself. "That's alright. I'm in the same predicament as well."
Like before, he hadn't noticed he was using some of his old slang. He found it very easy to be around this girl, even though he didn't know her name. He was oddly comfortable around this girl, as if they'd spoken before. It's primarily why he was so persistent about knowing about their probable history together.
"Oh." he blinked, realizing his fault. "You probably want to sit." He tore his gaze away from her to take a glimpse of the whole room. He found two empty chairs not far from the dance floor. "Shall we?" he asked his companion, offering his arm out, a faint grin playing on his lips.

brook couldn't hold away the heat rushing to her face any longer. she had totally disregarded any sort of introduction she may have been able to give. He introduced himself, she should have done the same, even before answering his question. she was just so caught up in everything. Him and how familiar he seemed to her and then that just tied in with her past and made things even more confusing. Why couldn't she have been born normal? She often wondered what he life would have been like had her mother not been Hecate.
"Oh! Oh, yes!" brook exclaimed with quite a bit of a embarrassed look as Isaac led her to the snacks table where he proceeded in getting a drink. "I'm brooklyn bravish. but, uh, you can call me brook, if you would like." Why this boy was making her so awkward and nervous, she had no clue other than the fact that he could be tied with her past. Other than that though, it didn't seem real.
He so old fashioned brook thought this and not in a bad way at all. She liked how he spoke to her, it seemed comfortable and normal, though it wasn't exactly something that she was quite used to either. "I guess I am, though," she responded to his assumption. "balled up, that is." She said this with a smile and took a sip of her own water that was growing colder in her hand.
When he asked if they should go find a place to sit, he held out his arm, which surprised brook even more. It was so much different than anything she was used to, but this was in a different way. She couldn't seem to find a middle ground that seemed right. But she decided to just go with this as it was at the moment. As diverse as it all was, she was enjoying it and without another hesitation she placed her arm with his, and returned a light smile back. "I guess we shall."

"Brookyln," Isaac repeated, trying to the sound on his lips, The sound of her name rolling on his tongue was familiar. Her name was pretty fitting. "Just like my hometown," he added in jokingly as they weaved though the crowd to get to the chairs. Like a true gentleman, he pulled one for Brook, allowing her to be seated before he was, before he sat down on next to her.
"Are you okay?" he asked worriedly, taking note of her nervousness. He probably shouldn't have forced her to keep him company. For all he knew, she may have shown up with a date! "Oh good lord," he muttered to himself. "Did you show up with a date?" he asked warily. He didn't want to get into a fight with a bimbo nor did he want to carry a torch for another man's girl. Yet, the idea perturbed him. He'd rather not picture her with another man.
He shoved the image away from his mind and forced a smile on his face. "Well, since both of us are confused. Let's start at finding a similarity. Umm… you said you weren't from New York, yeah? Have you been to Nevada?"

"Thank you," brook said with a smile as the interesting boy pulled out a seat for her. Isaac was definitely not the type of person she would have expected running into that night. It made her want to know so much more about him, to learn just what was making him seem so familiar to her. The more she was with him the more she felt like she already knew him, which was sort of odd. Surely it could be just because they had seen each other around camp and hadn't really thought much of it and that's why she felt he was familiar, but brook thought that she would have remembered clearly if she had met this boy at camp.
Setting her glass down on the table, brook nodded at his first question, but then she quickly took back the gesture at his next. She laughed lightly before answering. "No, I just came with a couple friends, who I have lost track of. But that's alright." She shrugged once more and a wondered to herself why he asked that question. The answer soon came to her as she began to wonder the same about him, though, but was too shy to actually ask the question. brook wasn't too sure he came with a partner though. If he would have, surely she would have stay ed with him, or would have shown up by now, right? If she had been his date she wouldn't want to leave him. She was starting to get that feeling now, even though he wasn't her date.
Isaac brought up something that finally struck a few strings. Nevada. had he been there? Did he know about the Lotus hotel? He had said he was from New York, how did he have ties to Nevada? "Actually, yeah. That's all I really know really. being there i mean. A friend and I traveled from Las Vegas to here, together."

Brooklyn was a few of the minority whom Isaac considered himself to be comfortable around. Sure, there had been some of his half-siblings in the Hebe cabin, but a few of them figured out how weird he acted and tried to stay away. They hadn't been rude to him, but they didn't exactly act welcoming either. He had managed to make a few friends outside his cabin, but he wasn't as used to their presence as much as he was with Brook, considering how they've only met a few minutes ago. Isaac was, however, certain that he has never seen her within the boundaries of Camp Half-Blood.
Taking a sip from his Coke, he tried not to be impatient as he awaited her answer. He felt his heart drop to his stomach when she nodded, mistaking the gesture for his inquiry about her attending the dance with a date. A smile easily made his way to his face when she told him about her friends. "It's okay if you'd like to stay with them, you know," he told her earnestly. Despite the urge to get to know her further, he didn't want to steal her away from her friends. Isaac would probably find another way to see her again anyway. He liked the feeling of being at ease around someone. It an unfamiliar sensation that he rarely came across.
His eyes met hers when she mentioned about traveling from Las Vegas. The shade of green had been so familiar to him and it was starting to dawn on him where he may have seen them before. "My dad took me to Las Vegas a while ago as well," he whispered. It was an understatement, of course. A while ago? Try 84 years ago. "Have you been to the Lotus hotel and casino?"

Once isaac had suggested she go back to be with her friends she found that she really didn't want to. Her answer to him was a smile smile and a shrug of the shoulders, not really knowing what else to say. She enjoyed talking with him, even if it had only been five minutes. The nagging feeling inside of her making her think she knew him helped that as well though. It wasn't like talking with him was bad, though. He was attractive, and nice to look at. It was brook was thinking and she was perfectly fine with that.
the more she was thinking about the boy who sat in front of her, the more he became familiar to her. brook didn't have to think as hard now. she had been doing plenty of exercises to try and recover her memory, but she never had any progress with remembering things until now. First it had been his eyes, the perfect blue eyes had been the first thing she had noticed. But now, his facial features and hair, height, even the littlest details were coming back to her. And she knew exactly where from, but she wanted to hear him say it first, because surely he realized it too.
and he said it, and just the thought of the place running through her mind once more made chills run down her spine. She never wanted to return there, not ever. She had no idea how much time she had spent there, and didn't want to get sucked into much more time of it. Who knew where she came from? She had the hotel to blame for everything...unless something before that had a bigger effect.
But he had been there? Was that where she had met Isaac? Is that why he is so familiar to her, and her to him. "Yes." Brook nodded when answering, and looked at the ground for a moment. "But that's as much as I know, really. Nothing before that." she looked up again, meeting Isaac's eyes for that moment. "You were there, as well? For how long?" Maybe if he knew for himself, maybe she could remember herself from when she came. brook knew that time was different in the casino. her and Callie had figured that out the hard way.

The familiarity of Brook's presence was seriously unnerving. From the mysterious glint in her emerald eyes to the sound of her voice, her laugh, the slight spark that that tingled on his skin from her touch, it was no doubt that this wasn't the first time that Isaac has come across the demigod. Biting his lip, he looked at Brook, studying her face, his eyes gliding from the contours of her cheeks to her long eyelashes. She was very pretty, yet something told him that there was actually something underneath the surface. Not an ounce of wickedness, he would argue. Brook's sweet smile would contradict that statement.
Everything may have been a blur to the seventeen year old, however he knew it was just a puzzle. He didn't have amnesia from his stay in Las Vegas, but the Lotus Hotel & Casino just sprawled out pieces of his life before him, leaving him to figure out his life after his arrival in Nevada. Thank god he'd already figured one thing out, that one of the boys at Camp Half-Blood was one of his friends in the hotel, but there was still so much information to acquire. Another thought bugged Isaac; part of him wanted to know more about Brook herself, rather than just how they possibly know each other.
When she nodded, it felt as if he was struck by lightning. When he glanced back at Brook, his memories were more clear now, however he still couldn't fit the puzzle pieces back together. He still had to know what--or who--he was dealing with. "Yeah, I was." Isaac scratched the back of his head. "Umm…" Truth was, he didn't know how to exactly answer the question. Was it safe enough to say that he had been stuck in Las Vegas for a little more than 80 years? Definitely not. "It's kinda complicated. Let's just say I've been there for around 3 months." He wasn't lying. The Lotus manipulated his mind into thinking that his stay only lasted for a few months, but there was something odd about the city when he got out. Fortunately for him, the satyr he met informed him about what has happened for the past 80 years, but it was still a lot to process. "What about you?"
Before he met Brook, he didn't have much to live for. Everyone he knew was dead. His dad killed himself, his old friends were gone, except for Adam, who was struggling on something different entirely. Isaac didn't have a clue on what he would do anymore. How could he go on with the guilt that he was alive and free, not having to face the same problems his father had? But once he started getting to know Brook within the short span of 5 minutes they had been talking, Isaac started to realize that, maybe, someone else could've been going through the same issues he had been. For once in his time since his departure from Las Vegas, Isaac didn't feel so alone anymore.
