FAMILY AND RELATIONSHIPS celestial parent: odyne, goddess of pain mortal family: kaelyn is one of a five unit family consisting of herself, her step-mother, two brothers, and her father. kaelyn's father married two years after having fraternal twins with the goddess. his bride was a bit young for the thirty-one year old doctor, but old enough that people never questioned the parenthood of the twins. seven years after the two married, they had a little boy. significant friendships: her cat is currently her best friend romantic relations: never had one, isn't really too interested in one CAMP STATS cabin: hermes claimed: not yet claimed time at camp: kaelyn has been a summer camper since she turned seven and a year-round camper for almost three months weapon of choice: if she had to choose, it would be a dagger but she prefers to stay behind and tend to the sick. celestial gifts: kaelyn possesses three abilities that have given her hints to her parentage. she cannot feel physical pain. this puts her in a difficult position at times. kaelyn could have a mild wound and die because she couldn't feel it. it has contributed greatly to her fatal flaw. to an extent, kaelyn can dull the pain of others through physical contact. in order to do this, she must internalize the pain herself, which is the only way she can feel pain. her mind must be focused on the task. her most dangerous ability has given her the biggest hint to her mother's identity. kaelyn can inflict pain upon others through deep concentration and focus. she does not need to be touching, but doing so makes the affects worse. fatal flaw: over-confidence. because she cannot feel pain, she tends to believe she can push herself harder than she really should. CHARACTER brief history:kaelyn and carlyle were born to odyne, the goddess of pain, and stephan shaw, a small town doctor. the couple had been dating off and on for two years before she abandoned the twins on his doorstep and never contacted stephan again. rumors floated around that they were the children of a nurse he used to date. about six months later, stephan fell head over heels for the new intern, diana. the couple dated consistently for nearly a year before he proposed. soon after the wedding, the couple accepted jobs in new york and moved across the country. diana allowed the twins to call her 'mum' and neither parent denied the assumption that diana was the mother. kaelyn and carlyle's gifts began to cause problems around the age of three, when they got into everything. diana quit her job to watch them full time since they didn't seem to ever recognize injuries. life passed mostly uneventfully for the next few years. on their seventh birthday a satyr showed up and explained to the couple that their children needed to attend summer camp because they were becoming a danger to themselves. that was the first year they were apart from their parents for more than a few hours. the two kept to themselves and only spoke to others when absolutely necessary two years later, diana gave birth to a little boy they named james. james was hell on wheels from the start. the child was always into something or causing some amount of trouble. at the age of six, the child began to find jumping on people fun. james jumped onto his brother's back and knocked him over, accidentally. the teen hit his head and was knocked unconscious. james left his brother after deciding he was joking and carlyle died shortly after of blood loss. kaelyn found her brother hours later, dead in their room. as a family, kaelyn and her parents decided not to tell her brother the cause of his death, unwilling to traumatize the child further. the teenage girl understood that it was an accident and her brother wasn't at fault. nevertheless, she found it difficult to be around the child and even more difficult to be in the house. again, as a family, it was determined that it was best if kaelyn go back to camp until she could cope. personality: kaelyn was a very sheltered child. being home schooled her entire life has left her clueless to a lot of things. she prefers books to tv, doesn't understand stereotyping, and fiercely believes love isn't dictated by a gender law. speaking of sexuality, she has no idea about her own. in her entire life, she can't ever remember preferring one gender over the other. so as of now, she is up for anything. in fact, kaelyn is willing to try nearly anything once. her biggest flaw is over-confidence. her inability to feel pain has bred a monster. the teen genuinely believes she can do anything she puts her mind to. despite her over-confidence, she has never had an issue with stubborn-ness or arrogance. she doesn't flaunt her abilities, prefering to keep them quiet and only use when absolutely necessary. PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES appearance: blue, almond shaped eyes are set into a heart face. she is rather self conscious about her above average sized nose. because of this she refuses to take pictures of her profile, believing it emphasizes her nose to heavily. kaelyn's brown hair ends at her almost non-existent waist. the tall, five foot seven inch teen lacks curves she feels she should have. kaelyn's style is simple. she prefers to shop at bargain and thrift stores as opposed to designer brands. it simply isn't worth the money to her. body modification: kaelyn has her ears pierced once on each lobe. she plans to have her nose done

she is able to heal and cure herself using salt water. the salt water in her blood purifies it and extinguishes and poisons and toxins, though it works much better when she is actually in salt water as well.
water breathing is a particular specialty of hers. she is able to breathe in salt water but she is also able to diffuse the oxygen to create oxygen bubbles to allow others to breathe
pressure does not affect caliandra. if she were to fall into water off a cliff, it wouldn't even sting.
unlike some nereids and children of the water, she cannot dry things underwater. it isn't something she ever cared to learn and this skill is rudimentary at best.
caliandra always knows her exact position in water, allowing for easy navigation through the seas.
she can communicate with all creatures of the sea with ease both telepathically and normally. water does not affect her speech at all.
because of her small amount of mortal blood (about twenty-five percent) she is able to exist outside of water as long as she keeps a copious amount of saltwater in her system. however it becomes uncomfortable if she goes too long without being in the ocean.
her mortal blood keeps her looking somewhat normal. her skin is not tinged with green and she doesn't entrance men to the same extent her sisters do. she still has that wild, unearthly beauty to her, but it isn't wholly foreign.
fatal flaw:her fatal flaw is her ability to hold grudges indefinitely. she doesn't forgive easily which has caused her to cut ties with many people CHARACTER brief history:((will be expanded at a later date)) courtney met nereus as a teenaged girl while on a quest for her father. she was instantly captivated by the god who had disguised himself as a homeless man. courtney made it her goal to catch him again. and she did, nearly ten years later when she was twenty-seven. the two began to date, secretly, of course. a year into the relationship, courtney gave birth to a girl who was more nymph than mortal. despite being a half blooded nymph herself, courtney was disturbed by this and left the child with it's father. unsure of his options, nereus took the baby back to his wife, doris, and daughters. doris already knew of his affair and despite her displeasure, she took pity on the child. alarmed that it had remained nameless, doris took it upon herself to name the child caliandra, meaning 'lovely one' in greek. doris raised the child as her own until caliandra was nearly eleven. caliandra came back from a small trip with her sisters to find her parents talking about her. she listened in quietly and what she heard alarmed her. nereus was telling his wife that caliandra's mortal blood was attracting the attention of evil monsters and she was unsafe. what shocked her most was mention of her mortal mother. weeping, caliandra threw herself at her mother's feet, confessing that she had been listening. she begged her mother to expel the horrid assumptions she had made from the conversation, but much to her displeasure, doris confirmed them. her biological mother was a half mortal and she was in danger. after conversing with their daughters, the couple decided it was best for her youngest daughter to travel to camp half blood and live with her sisters dwelling there. reluctantly, the child agreed. upon her fifteenth birthday, she returned to visit her parents and was greeted by an unwelcome surprise. her biological mother was waiting to meet her. much to her displeasure, her father encouraged her to return with her mother and spend a week with her. during that time, she met her step-father, step-brother, and niece. caliandra instantly formed a connection with her neice, annie, and step-brother, nathan. after the week ended, caliandra left and has refused to see her biological mother since, stating courtney had her chance when she was born and courtney doesn't deserve another. however, annie and nathan moved to maine shortly after and the three have developed a strong family bond.

personality:as with most nymphs, caliandra is fiercely protective of nature, particularly the sea and beaches. one easy way to get on her bad side is to pollute or harm nature and the animals that live there. her pleasant nature can turn fowl very quickly when she is disrespected or insulted. despite this, she takes teasing and pranks quite well, often reciprocating. the youngest nereid can be a bit spoilt at times. being the youngest child came with the perks of everybody giving her what she wanted. although she is far from humble, caliandra does not go out of her way to flaunt her gifts. she loves showing them off, but will not do it unprompted. the girl is confident and outgoing. she can make friends with nearly anybody, and would, if she could. however, she has a difficult time trusting as she is not one to assume the best in people. because of this, she does not have any close friends yet. PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES appearance:wild, sun-streaked brown hair frames her oval face. she keeps it long, though shorter than most nymphs as it is cut just above her waist. she is about five feet and six inches and one hundred thirty pounds, with most of the weight accentuating her chest and hips. her clothing choices on land tend to be simpler, usually coming from a thrift or goodwill store as she is a big believer in recycling everything. typically, she wears a long coat over a dress or shirt and shorts. occasionally she will put on boots if she knows she will be in public or stepping on rocks. in the sea she wears a dress of seal skin. not one she killed, mind you. rather seals that have died. she uses the skin and leaves the remainder for other animals.

FAMILY AND RELATIONSHIPS celestial parent: ellissa's father is apollo, god of of light and the sun, truth, prophecy, healing, archery, music, and poetry mortal family: all deceased. her mother was the wife of a well-to-do politician and a socialite who took advantage of apollo's obviously lust for her. ellissa had seven half siblings she never met. significant friendships: romantic relations: none. STATS group: time as huntress: weapon of choice: bow and arrow celestial gifts: fatal flaw: CHARACTER brief history: agatha, ellissa's mother, was a socialite and the wife of a politician. agatha met apollo at a large party and he seemed to be attracted to her instantaneously. upon discovering his identity, from the hostess of the party, agatha became more receptive to his advances. in her mind, she thought if she were to give him what he wanted, apollo would give her what she wanted - higher social status and more wealth - in return. months later, wen she found out this was not the case, agatha called it off. but by this time, she was already pregnant.
