| Ducky flopped down onto the couch in the Apollo living room and pulled the book he had stashed under a pillow that morning. It was a hefty tome, entitled House Of Leaves, written by Mark Z. Danielewski over a decade prior, and to be honest, Ducky had no idea why has was reading it. It was a psychological horror novel, and psychology and horror were two things he normally avoided like the plague. It was enthralling though, and after it had been given to him by his friend Allys (daughter of Psyche, figures she'd like it), he hadn't been able to put it down.
He was presently in the middle of chapter 25, but the book was over 600 pages long, so he still had a ways to go. As his eyes scrolled over yet another page-and-a-half long footnote, a figure appeared in his peripheral vision. Duke glanced up, and smiled. "Hey Emma." He'd never really talked to this particular half-sister all that much, but he liked he well enough regardless. | |

| I know there's no greater feeling than the love of family.

I walked into my cabin, looking for someone I knew well. After searching the cabin several times, I realized they must be somewhere training, so I walk up to my half-brother, Ducky. After he greats me, I return the greeting, "Hey, Ducky! I haven't talked to you in a while."
I held Rufus, my cat. He purred softly in my arms like a motor. I looked at him and then at Ducky. Ducky was reading a book, but I didn't know what book it was, exactly. I decided to ask him because after all, someone had to start the conversation, "What book are you reading?"

| "This thing? It's called House of Leaves. It's kinna scary, not the stuff I'd usually read, but it's really good." Duke closed the book and set it down on the couch. He gave the seat next to him two quick pats, inviting Emma to sit down. "So how've you been lately?" | |

I sit down beside my half brother, smiling. I reply, Oh, not much. You know, just singing, writing, the usual stuff. What have you been doing lately, you know, besides reading?"
I wasn't much of a reader, I couldn't help it. In fact I absolutely hated reading. The words just floated off the page for me, but I did like writing stories and poems, and sometimes the occasional song. I didn't know Ducky all that much, but my guess was that he was quite big on reading, contrary to almost every camper here, except for the children of Athena, of course.
