Noelle fumbles with her nail beds, simultaneously biting her bottom lip. Her teeth chatter, as she remembers his hands, branded to her sides. If looked upon closely, you can still see the five fingers scarred on each side. Some thought it was a tattoo, never knowing the truth. She never dares to tell anyone the truth. None of the people on this earth will care.

She, alone, lifts her shirt to her breastbone, poking her stomach with her index finger, only to wince at the pain. She has to do this. She has to remember how everything happened. As she leans back, cross-legged, with one arm settled on the pebbly ground for support, she pulls her shirt down, paranoid that some person may be watching.

I listened to the minuscule waves of the creek as I stared off into the distance. I had no cast on my leg anymore, therefore, I felt free. Freer than I've been since that first invasion of Kronus' army. I had lost one of my best friends in tat battle. I still had Renae...I still miss her sometimes...Crystal that is. I missed her baby 'cousin.' I missed everything about her. Her ability to make anyone look gorgeous in anything. Of course, my definition of gorgeous was different from that of a daughter of Aphrodite. That's who Crystal was. Then there was Danielle. She got injured and then vanished from camp. No one's seen her since. I never really knew her though.

I start walking again. I listen to every wave and listen for conk shells. I see a girl and I wave to her. I say a simple, "Hello."

Noelle lifts her head, to see another girl approach her, "Hey. I'm Noelle, but most people call me 'Lucky.'" she says politely, gesturing her with a nod of the head. "What brings you be here?" Noelle would die for a joint right now, to drag herself away from her memories into ecstasy, but she cannot. She's been clean for a month now, she can't go back. She'll fight for her sobriety till the end of time. You can't become addicted to the stimulant, but you live for the rush it brings you.

Noelle scrambles to her feet, interrupting the calm water filling the creek. She focuses her attention back to the girl, listening for her response, even if Noelle's own thoughts are creeping into her mind. Distracting her.

"Hello Lucky, I'm Shelbie. I just love listening to the water's gentle waves. Especially on nice days such as today. I'm a daughter of Poseidon." I say listening to the waves. Every wave I heard was blissful.
