Alone (finished)

Saff walked into the room...alone. She felt pretty stupid going to the ball with no date. She was wearing a pretty dress like you were supposed to but it was useless if you didn't dance in it. Strange, Saff usually liked dancing. But being surrounded by dancing couples made her feel sad. She really should have worked up the courage to ask someone to this event, but she just couldn't do it. Sighing, she turned to leave the ball...

"Why are you leaving? You can still have fun." Layla yelled in the loud pop music to her. She walked all the way to the girl.

"I don't know." Saff said loudly (to be heard over the music) "the music's changed now though, so I can have fun now. It was just before it was a slow dance and it felt weird without someone to dance with." She grinned at the girl. She could definitely have fun now that she wasn't alone.

"You can come to my cabin and we can watch a movie. How old are you?" Layla said. She thought if they became fiends they wouldn't care about the Winter Ball.

"Sure, I'd like to watch a movie. I'm 15. How old are you?" Saff asked. If they were roughly the same age they could probably become really good friends.

"I'm 15 too. I've been at camp for 5 years and I'm a year-rounder. How many years have you been at camp?" Layla said. She wanted to know some information about Saff.

"Umm. I've been here for 3 years and I'm a year-rounder." Saff said. I think we could be really good friends, Saff thought as she smiled at Layla. "Who's your Godly parent?" She asked curiously.

"Aphrodite. No one ask me out a lot. And still I'm the daughter of Aphrodite. Who's your Godly parent?" said Layla.

"I'm a daughter of Terpsichore." Saff answered. "Basically that means I'm a good dancer and a good singer." She grinned. "No one asks me out either." Saff shrugged. It wasn't desperately important to have a boyfriend. She didn't really care most of the time.

"So do you want to come to my cabin?" Layla asked. Layla went to go get a cupcake. They were delicious! The cupcake was a chocolate cupcake with a lot of frosting on top shaped into a flower. When she took a bite out of the cupcake some frosting got on her nose, She went to go get a napkin and wiped her nose. She went back to the girl to get her answer.

"Yeah, sure." Saff said. She'd never actually been inside the Aphrodite cabin and was slightly curious. "So are we going to go now, or later." Saff asked. She didn't really care, as long as she had something to do.

Jake overheard the two girls talking about leaving so decided to walk over and interject. This was supposed to be festive, they shouldn't just leave to a cabin to go watch a movie. "Hey girls," Jake said "no need to leave. Come on, we're supposed to be having fun. Would one of you girls like to dance?" Jake outstretched his hand between the two girls, looking at both of them waiting for an answer.

Saff didn't really want to abandon her new friend just for a guy. Hopefully Layla would be the same. "Well actually we were just going to cabin 10." she said.

Sienna strode throught he doors of the Winter Ball. She grinned at the beauty of it. As she was wandering around she overheard a girl refuse a dance. She walked over to the guy and tapped him on the shoulder. "Since my good friend Saff doesn't want to dance with you I will." she grinned. She was a daughter of the Goddess of love, so she really needed, and wanted, a boyfriend.

Jake bowed to Saffron, humbly accepting the rejection. "Well then maybe I'll just see you around," he said, turning to face Sienna. His heart almost skipped a beat. Jake cleared his throat and took her hand. "I'd be honored," he said. Jake had no idea how to dance, but he figured it was a lot like sword fighting. Fluid. Graceful. This couldn't be too hard, right?

Sienna smiled blissfully. This boy was cute! And he wanted to dance with her! As the they began the dance, it was one she knew thank goodness, Sienna noticed that the boy was very graceful. She focused on his eyes and realised they were changing between blue and green, it had a rather nice effect. Then a thought struck her. "Oh," she said, "I just realised I don't even know your name. What is it? Mine's Sienna if you didn't already know."

"Jake," he said, grinning at the girl. "Nice to meet you, Sienna." Jake looked at the girl. Was it just him or was she looking at his eyes? He looked into her eyes, they seemed to sparkle. He couldn't stop staring at her... he was probably starting to creep her out.

Sienna flushed slightly as he stared at her. "You are a very good dancer." she said truthfully. "Have you ever danced before?" The next song was slower, the kind couples always dance to. Sienna smiled at Jake flirtatiously. Usually that smile stopped boys in their tracks or made them drop their jaws. Usually it was kind of funny.

"Not at all," Jake answered. "But I figure it's a lot like sword fighting. Very fluid in motion." Jake started to dance slower as the music changed. "How about you? you seems very light on your feet," he said, looking into her eyes more and more. Her eyes were absolutely entrancing.

Sienna smiled happily as he had no reaction to her smile. That was good, it meant he wasn't an idiot who fell in love from one smile. "I'm just naturally graceful." she said. "I've never really danced before." She moved a tiny bit closer to him. The movement was so slight he might not notice. Then again, if he was a good sword fighter he always needed to be aware. He probably would notice. Hopefully he wouldn't pull away.

Jake grinned as the girl moved closer. He placed one hand on her side, leading her into the slow dance. "Well you're quite a good dancer," he said. He was still unable to break eye contact. He managed a glance away from her eyes for a second. Was she smiling at him?

"Thankyou." Sienna said, graciously accepting the compliment. The slow dance continued, so they continued dancing. Sienna gazed into Jake's eyes and realised he was staring into hers. Hmmm, she thought, maybe that was why he didn't notice my smile. They stared into each other's eyes, still dancing slowly.

Jake stared into her eyes as she started into his. He stepped a little closer to her, placing his other hand on her other side. He started dancing slower with her, not taking his eyes off of hers. "so how long have you been at camp?" he asked, "I haven't seen you around before."

"I've only been here for a few months." Sienna replied. "Aphrodite only claimed me recently. How long have you been at camp?" She distinctly notice that he stepped closer to her. She gave another small step towards him, quite an achievement really. They were very close now.

"I've been here a year now," Jake said. "Triton claimed me a couple weeks after I got here." Jake moved one hand off her said and brushed a strand of hair from her face. She was really quite beautiful, he thought to himself.

Sienna smiled as he brushed some of her hair off her face. It had been annoying and she had about to go brush away herself when he did it for her. She leaned closer to Jake. He was very cute and very nice. He was almost perfect. She thought almost because no one is really perfect, everyone has a flaw.
