A Lonely Walk (OPEN)

Jolie walked along the beach alone, her mind elsewhere as she did. She played with her hair, which was done like it always was. She didn't have many friends here so she took walks by herself. Sometimes just to clear her head.

Seth had been trudging in the grassy streak of land just beside the sandy beach when he noticed a familiar figure just ahead of him. It was a girl he had seen quite a few times around camp in the months he had been here. They'd even talked once or twice on occasion, but considering all the people he talked to on an hourly basis, he naturally had little memory of their conversations' content.

Still, the son of Bia welcomed a companion on that dreary afternoon. A friendly grin edging his face, he picked up the pace to catch up with her and called out: "Hey! Jolie, isn't it?"

Jolie looked behind her when she heard a voice and noticed Seth trying to catch up with her. She smiled slightly. "Oh hey Seth." she said softly. She remembered having a few conversations with this boy and she had fun. "How are you tiday?" she asked

Seth shrugged, walking in step with Jolie. He could feel the long, dry stalks of cat-tails brushing against his dark track pants, and moisture from snow glistened on the sides of his sneakers. "Camp's pretty much same old. You've been up to anything?"

Jolie shook her head. "Just wandering aimlessly through camp." she said plainly. She looked around at scenery admiring it with a small smile. "Have you been up to anything?" she asked.

Once again, Seth's rather casanovaic habits rose into the conversation. It didn't help his ego that he was naturally charming. "Well, I am talking to a rather cute girl." He tilted his head, a slight smile gracing his lips. "Does that count?"

Jolie laughed a little at his flirting. "I guess that does count." she said with a smile. She looked at him and rolled her eyes. "Easy there tiger." she joked.

Seth's smile intensified to an outright grin. He felt a certain pleasure at making others feel happy—it was part of his typical, though flawed, nature. Perhaps it was because he had seen too few true expressions of delight in his childhood. His youth had been filled with wariness and death and a daily struggle for survival.

He focused on Jolie again. "You're a year-rounder, I presume?"

"Yeah I am." Jolie said, noticing his grin. "Obviously you are too." A smile appeared on her face as she looked at him.

Seth nodded amiably. "Yep. I've been here... almost two years, I think." He focused on the memories of camp to prevent those of his previous life from swarming his thoughts, as they often did behind his animated exterior.

"You must have tons of girls don't you." Jolie said with a nudge and a wink. She was having fun for once and she liked it. She liked easy conversations.

Seth laughed. "Don't I wish," he kidded, aware that her statement hit rather close to home, though not quite. He had never really found anyone that entirely clicked with him yet, so while he had certainly gone out on quite a few spontaneous dates, he had few actual long-term relationships.

Contrary to what most of his friends thought, Seth never really intended to flirt in conversations; gentle teasing and compliments just came easily to him. Gifted with a flair for words, one might say. They rose to his tongue and he would deliver them with a skillful flourish. Banter, debate, joke, cajole, parley or even blackmail, if he so wished.

not that you'd blackmail anyone, right seth? right?

"What about you?" Seth turned his gaze to Jolie. "A girl like you would be going out with someone, right?"

"Me? A boyfriend? No. I haven't ever had one." she said softly. She looked down a again. "Guys don't seem to be into my look." she joked. These words stung her on the inside but she kept a smile on her face, not wanting to worry Seth. He seemed like such a nice guy.

He raised an eyebrow slightly, sweeping his gaze across her face and hair. Jolie wasn't what one would call a great beauty, but neither could she be described as plain. Seeing her forced expression, Seth instinctively wanted to cheer her up. But there was nothing he could offer her except.. himself right?

"Say, let's go on a date then. Just for a day." He winked at her playfully. Having nothing in particular on his schedule for the next few days, hanging out with Jolie would be more than entertaining. "It'll be fun."

OOC: hey if she accepts we can do another rp follow-up somewhere outside camp or something idk

Jolie looked at him a little hesitantly. She knew he was doing it out of pity and not because he actually liked her. She wasn't sure she wanted to go, but she didn't want to be rude. "Okay sure." she said softly before nodding.

Sensing Jolie's discomfort, Seth's smile dropped a little, a slight of concern in his eyes. "You're not busy are you?" He was all for the spontaneousness of it, and she was cool, but if she had other plans, well, he wouldn't want to push it.

"No, I'm free. We should totally do it." Jolie said with a smile. It seemed like Seth wanted to take her. Maybe it would be fun and it wasn't out of pity. "Where are we going to go?" she asked.
