Vanessa strode into the Arena, her sword swinging loosely in her hand. She and her half-brother Mark had arranged to meet here for some training. Vanessa surveyed the area quickly. Mark wasn't here yet. Shame. Now Vanessa would have to wait; she detested waiting. Waiting led to boredom, and boredom was Vanessa's worse enemy. Vanessa walked over to a dummy. Maybe she could warm up. You were supposed to warm up before physical activity anyway. Vanessa did a fe simple thrusts and slashes as she waited impatiently for Mark.

Mark cursed in Latin and nearly tripped running to the Arena. He had training today! He was dreading for this, and now he was late. His wand was in his pocket, and Espada was in it's sheath. He burst in the Arena, only to find that his trainer, Vanessa, age of 16, was in the Arena.

She looked mad.

Mark swallowed, then walked near her. "I'm sorry I'm late. So where do we start?" Mark said eagerly. Straightforward he is.

Vanessa raised an eyebrow at Mark. So he finally showed up did he? She brushed it off though. His training was more important. But, if Mark did make a habit of being late Vanessa would have to do something about it. "Start with basic slashes on this dummy." she instructed Mark. "Slash high, middle, low and repeat." Vanessa twirled her sword around in her hand while she waited for Mark to begin.

Mark took a deep breath, and unsheathed his sword. He felt the familiar weight, and he gripped it's hilt tighter. Mark help Espada up, and focused on the dummy. He swung his sword high, middle, and low, and repeat it again, as Vanessa ordered, He repeated it again. And again.

It'd been ages since Mark had training. Skills rusted, he frowned. The dummy had not been scratched a bit. So he tried the swing swords again. This time, he got it right.

"Skills rusted," Mark muttered.

"Keep going." Vanessa instructed. She watched Mark's moves carefully, seeing what she could help with. So far it looked like he had the potential to be good, but he was out of practice. He was going to have to keep doing this to warm up a bit.

Mark stopped, letting the two words sink in. Keep going. So he did. Mark swung his sword again and again, high, middle, low. He knew there's a battle coming. A battle. He has to help. Even though he was ignored here at camp. Even though Hecate seemed a minor goddess, ready to be thrown aside like a doll. Even though campers tended to look down at him. Even though...

Mark's sword swings got slower. Stop it!

He regained his pace and started slashing again. Mark cannot afford to think of negatives now.

"Alright, that's enough warm up." Vanessa announced imperiously. "It's time for the real fun." A slightly evil grin crept onto Vanessa's face as she picked up her sword again. "Okay. Attack me." she said. She spread her arms out wide so there was a big target for Mark, but that made her arms sore. She dropped them to her side again. She was a big enough target already. She didn't have to make it super easy.
