Subject: Late Night Watch (OPEN to any Hunters) Sat Mar 03, 2012 11:53 pm

Eliana supressed a yawn as she gazed at the camp below. Of course she was always happy to protect the Huntress camp, but late night watcheds weren't her favourite. She preerred all other watches to this one. Fact was, Eliana didn't like getting up late at night. She preferred to sleep at night. She wasn't a nocturnal animal. She shrugged off all these complaints though. She had to stand strong. Otherwise her partner would think she was weak. That couldn't happen. After two millenia in the Hunters Eliana could not afford to be weak. She was strong, so she should act like it. There hadn't been any action so far. Just breezes and night animals. Guarding was definitely more interesting when there were men or monsters around. It was good that nothing was here though. It meant that the camp was safe so far.

The other guard was tired and left the other girl alone. I tiptoed up the steps and went behind the girl. "BOO!!" I said.

Eliana didn't even flinch when someone tried to scare her. She'd heard the footsteps ages ago. Some people just weren't good at tiptoeing or being quiet. Or maybe they were. It could just be that not much scared Eliana these days. It also helped that she had excellently attuned hearing after being in the Hunters as long as she had. Eliana turned around to see who had tried to scare her. "Hello Haley." she said. "Please don't try and scare me, I'm on guard duty." It kind of annoyed Eliana that people didn't take guarding seriously but she stopped that from showing. Instead she turned back to watch over the camp.

Eliana grinned. "There's probably something out there that will scare me." Eliana admitted. "There used to be things that scared me. I got over them though. Just wait, one day you'll find that not much scares you." She paused for a moment. "Plus I heard you." she added. "If I hadn't heard you might've scared me."

I stomped my foot angrily. How did she hear me? It's not like I was loud. I didn't stomp my feet up the steps. "What does scare you?" I asked.

Eliana blinked in mild surprise as Haley stamped her foot. This wasn't worth getting angry about, was it. She paused for a moment to ponder Haley's question. What was Eliana scared of? "I don't actually know." she admitted. "I used to be scared of large spiders, but I got over that. What are you scared of?"

"Let me think." I said. "I guess large spiders, hellhounds, and sharks." I said. I wasn't scared of the dark like a 5 year old.

Eliana nodded. Those were all genreal fears. She wasn't scared of sharks. More people died from being hit in the head by a coconut than being attacked by a shark. And hellhounds? Meh, she could deal with them. "So are you running for group leader elections?" she asked, just for the sake of the conversation.

I thought about the question. "Hmmm.... Maybe. Do you know when they pick the group leader?" I asked.

"Well right now we're just nominating people." Eliana said. "Probably in a few days that'll stop. So you'd better decide quickly." While talking to Haley Eliana had been igoring her guarding a bit. She raked her eyes over the camp. Nothing was moving at all. That was good, it meant the camp was safe.

"I think I will. Are you signing up?" I asked. If she did, then I would definitely sign up. Eliana is like my BFF.

Eliana smiled. "I've already signed up." she replied. Eliana had always wanted to be a group leader. But she'd never had the chance until now. Now she really wanted to win. Eliana wanted to help the Gatherer Group as much as she could. And she could do a a whole lot more if she was their leader.

Eliana burst into laughter. It echoed throughout the camp. "Of course not!" she said. "I just hate them." Men were obviously inferior. Why would they cause Eliana to feel fear? It was a ridiculous thought. "Why? Are you scared of men?" she asked. Hopefully not.

Eliana turned to face Haley full on, staring at her. "Then why are you a Hunter?" she asked icily. Girls who dreamed of being with men should not be here. It was like blasphemy to think of men in the Huntress camp. Without waiting for her answer Eliana turned back to watch over the camp.

Wisteria climbed the steps to the watchtower and found Eliana. "Hey, Eliana, care if I help?" Wisty smiled and took watch of the West side of camp. She didn't spot anything major. A couple of night creatures lurking in the shadows, a wolf pack in the distance. They're had been a wolf pack outside the camp for a couple days now. Wisteria didn't know why it was such a big deal. The Hunter of Artemis befriended wolves didn't they? Wisty turned back to Eliana, she hoped Herbie, her injured bunny was alright at the den. She'd left him in a cage, so his wouldn't try to get away. Wisty smiled at Eliana. "So, what's you reason for hating boys?"

"Hello Wisteria." Eliana said, snapping out of her shock. She still couldn't believe a Hunter would dream of boys. "I hate men because of my father and brothers." she answered. "I reminded my father of my mother so he didn't want me to leave him like she did. My mother's Aglaia by the way. He locked me in my room all day and he never let me out. My brothers and their friends would tease me about it constantly. For some reason they were allowed in, I just wasn't allowed out. On my sixteenth birthday my bedroom door was unlocked. Usually my father locked it at night so I couldn't escape. Anyway, I left my room and never went back to my house." Eliana frowned slightly as she remembered those tortuous years. "So why do you hate males?" she asked.

"My father and my brother mostly. They abused me. And all the boys at school, they would call me ugly. My father restrained be from leaving the house for anything but school. I wasn't allowed to have friends." Wisteria winced thinking of the time her dad and brother took turned throwing her at the wall then throwing her into a glass case. She had been sent to the ER, with the lie that:

"She tripped over her own feet and fell into the case. She's a clumsy little thing."

Her dad had told the nurse. Wisty turned to the West side of camp again. She slammed her fist down on the wood of the watchtower.

Eliana nodded in understanding. Her father had abused her occasionally. Only a slap, or so he said. But Eliana's father was really strong. That meant that 'a slap' would send Eliana crashing to the ground. "I never had the chance to make friends while I was mortal." she told Wisteria. "I never even saw the rest of my house ntil I ran away."

Wisty's father had not left it at a slap. He consistently threw her and punched her and her would make her punch herself. Wisty's cheeks would be wet with tears and her brother would just stand there, watching, laughing. Wisty tuurned back to Eliana. They had both had it pretty bad. Wisteria felt sympathy for Eliana.

"I just guessed. I knew from what I had seen out of my window that my rook was on the upper floor. So I just found a staircase and went down to the bottom of it. Hen I found a back door and left through it. That's why I'm pale. I was never outside so I didn't get vitamin D." Eliana shrugged. Those days were history. Now she was cinstantly outside and in the sun.

"Oh." Wisty didn't know what to say. She didn't know if she should share something, which you usually didn't do. But, Eliana was an exception. Wisty had heard good things about her. Wisteria stood there, shifting her weight from foot to foot. She didn't have an "Exciting" escape story. She had just simply runaway.
