| It was dark outside, and there was no one to be found all over the grounds. Then a figure stepped out of the shadows of the courtyard, and hurried towards the forest. He pulled his hood up over his head, and stuck his hands in his pockets. He walked along the path that lead through the forest, and then went deep into the woods. His feet padded softly on the mossy forest floor. He came to a clearing and stopped. He looked around to make sure he hadn’t been followed. A voice came out of the darkness, crisp and clear, but only audible in the clearing.
'I am ready to start gathering my armies. My mission for you is, to go to the temple, and take the golden clock chain that is hidden there, and bring it to me.' The voice faded, and again, all was silent.
The boy moved quickly, heading back towards the camp. He made is way up the hill, and entered the temple. He knew his business, and quickly set to it. Silent and swift, he approached the place where the chain was hidden. He looked around again to make sure he was alone. He took the chain from its spot and placed it in his pocket. With this task finished, he made his way down a separate wing. He stopped in front of a statue, of Kronos, and knelt down in reverence. He lit the incense, and let it burn. He stayed quiet for a few minutes, then got up and left the temple.
Hidden in the shadows, unseen by Lucius, was a young boy. He had seen all that Lucius had done. He stepped out of the shadows, and smiled once Lucius had left. He headed towards an antechamber where a cot was set up. He climbed in, lay down, and went to sleep.

| Somewhere, in another part of the city, there was a girl, in a forest. She was lying on a soft bed of moss, and she looked like she had been sleeping, for a long time. She had long, wavy brown hair, interwoven with twigs, leaves, and flowers. Her dress seemed to be made of dirt and moss and vines. Just then her eyes opened, they were a deep earthy brown, and looked a little wild.
For several minutes she remained still, trapped by the vines and the tree roots. Then slowly the vines and roots came to life. They retreated, releasing their prey, and disappeared into the ground. The girl slowly moved her limbs, one at a time, testing them out. Slowly she stood up, and then she began to laugh.
She started running, through the trees, laughing, jumping, and screaming. This went on for sometime, all being observed by a young boy sitting in a tree. The girl stopped, she was breathing hard, the boy jumped down, landing on the ground beside her. She started, and stared at the boy. He didnt wait for her to say anything, he just jumped right in.
"My name is Eben Stone, and I have been waiting for this moment for a long time." She looked the boy up and down, she didnt know him, but for some strange reason, she felt that she could trust this boy. "I dont know who or what I am, and why have you been waiting for me?" She asked him.
"It has long been foretold, that a daughter of the earth would bring justice to the world." He replied. "And there has been talk amoung the spirits of the underworld, that tonight she would rise, right here, in this very place. So I have been keeping watch all night. And I am certain that you are the one." He continued.

| "Well, then who does that mean that I am, what does that make me?" She asked Eben.
"If you are who I think you are, then that would make you a demi-god, a daughter of Gaea. And if that is the case, then we ne to get you to safety. I know of a place not far from here, its a camp for demi-gods like us, but we should hurry, who knows what might be coming our way." He explained to the girl. "Do you have a name I could call you by?" Eben asked.
She nodded, "yeah, I do. My name is... Julie Smith." She said, as the memory came to her. Together they started to make their way out of the forest and towards the camp. Eben listened hard, in case there were any monsters nearby. He didnt hear anything, but he kept listening, just to be sure.
It wasnt long before they came to the edge of the foerst, beyound the boundry of the park. It was then that Eben heard something behind them in the trees. He pulled two swords from the ground, and held them out prepared for an attack. Julie, sensing something was coming, looked at Eben, unsure of what to do. Eben pulled up another sword and handed it to Julie.
"Be careful, and keep your eyes and ears open." He said quietly. Together, holding their swords, they waited anxiously for whatever it was that was coming towards them. | |
