| James smiled to himself and her, shrugging with agreement at Tori's comment about how stuck up was. He wouldn't say he was stuck up and full of himself, but confident but remained silent all the same. "So you like to climb trees, huh?" He asked, pointing to the tree behind her that she had once climbed down from. "Show me?" He asked, wanting to change the subject to something lighter. | |

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Tori gave him a sideways smile before turning to the large tree. She ran extended her arms and grabbed a branch, swinging to the top of it. She had a grin fixed on her face as she sat on the tree. "Well?" Tori said bluntly."Are you coming?" she asked, laughing a little. The instant rush of climbing trees kicked in right away. She loved climbing. Tori swung her legs, as they dangled over the branch. Her pink sneakers were bright compared to the dull background. http://www.polyvore.com/tori/set?id=44167726 | |

| James laughed at Tori before he realised that she was being serious. With hismouth stil twisted up into a smirk, he made a run for the branch Tori was on and used all of his upper-body strength to pull himself up, sitting next to her and slightly outt of breath. "Well, that was fun." He grinned truthfully, smoothing down his hair once more as he looked at his new friend. James had a feeling that if he and Tori did stay close as friends, there would be alot of climbing involved, which he didn't mind. | |

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Tori smiled and nodded. She leaned against the bark of the tree and looked out at the creek. "Yeah, I love it here." Tori said with a soft, almost sad smile. She truly meant that last statement. Not only did she love climbing, but she had a new respect for camp. Tori realized that when she was alone, fending for herself. In a word, it sucked. She never felt so alone before. Now, Tori would stay. | |

| James smiled and nodded, dimples forming at his cheeks. He hated his dimples at he thought that it wrecked the bad-boy image that he had worked so hard for in his life. Actually, it was one of the only things about his appearence that showed even a little bit of his hidden side which he had let loose now in this meeting with Tori. Stupid steriotypical dimples.
Looking down with James' bright eyes, he started to sway his legs back and forth beneath them absent-mindedly, not really knowing what to say. He had never been this open with someone before. It was hard and easy at the same time; he could just be himself but had to be careful not to tread on thin ice.
"So, where you from, Tori?" He asked, looking back to her with a raised eyebrow, his curiosity getting the better of him. He wouldn't bring up the 'dangerous' topics again.

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Tori looked at James and began swinging her feet just like he was. She looked out at the creek, until his words brought her eyes back to his. "Well," Tori said, looking away for a moment."New York, I think." she said with a small nod. Tori didn't really know, she was just dropped off at an orphanage when she was a baby. Then she escaped that place, and lived on the streets for a while. "I grew up in an orphanage..." Tori added, looking at James. "Then I ditched that place, and lived on the streets for a while, and got here." She said, placing a strand of hair behind her ear.
Tori didn't talk much about her past, it was a touchy subject. Then again, if James was opening up to her, at least she could do the same. She didn't know how it felt to be open to someone, since Devin, her old boyfriend. Tori sighed, contently and fingered the necklace he had given her. It was silver, and had a winged sandal on it, since Devin is a son of Hermes . Usually, she kept in under her shirt, but right now she didn't care.
Tori noticed what she was doing, and brought her hands back by her sides, holding on to the branch they were sitting on. "So, ah... where are you from?" she asked, trying to start the conversation again.

| "Oh Gods, I'm so sorry. James mummbled, scratching the back of her neck awkwardly. He was touchy about his oast also so he couldn't really blame her for not feeling entirly open with him, especially when she seemed to be picked on quite a lot. "I'm guessing that an orphange isn't like what its like in Annie, is it?" He asked, again trying to make her happy.
James shrugged when Tori asked about where he was from. He doubted it would be hard for her to guess because of his thick accent but it made for conversation so he was glad she had asked. "Oh...London, in England. I had to travel over here quite a lot when I was growing up." He told her, purpously leaving out detail.
Seeing Tori playing with the necklace around her neck before dropping it. Impulsivly, James reached forward and played with it gently in his large hands, his eyes looking for her to the object and back again. "Whats this?" He asked curiously, continuing to turn it over in his fingers.

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Tori cracked a smiled and nodded softly. She felt stupid asking where he was from, considering his accent. She just thought of that after she asked, oh well. At least James answered none the less. Tori nodded again as he kept talking.
Tori nodded as he replied. She kind of zoned out until she didn't feel the cold metal of her necklace on her neck anymore. Her head snapped up, almost hitting James'. Tori would've swiped his hand away, but she didn't. "Um, it's a necklace... obviously." she said, trying to fit her words to her thoughts. Tori looked at her necklace, which seemed small in comparison to James' hand.
She looked up at him, then glanced at her necklace. "My old boyfriend gave it to me before I vanished...now he's gone." Tori admitted softly. "He gave it too me so I wouldn't forget him." she added. Tori looked up at James and gave a soft shrug. "I guess that's what I get for running half of my life..." she said.

| James broke out into a sloppy grin, rolling his eyes with a chuckle. "I know its a necklace, Dumb-ass. I was asking you an open question so you could choose to reply which ever way you want to." James clarified, letting the necklace go and fall back against her shirt as he placed his hand on the tree once more.
James thought for a moment about what Tori had told him today. She didn't seem to be having the best of luck, did she in life? Someone up there must not have chosen to go easy on her. Having said that, he could see why someone might not forgive her for joining the enemy but, everyone deserved a chance right?
James took her hand in a friendly and comforting way, not knowing why he was being like this. This wasn't his normal personality; this was the hidden part. He usually woupd of been flirting his arse off right now with Tori so he couldn't understand why he wasn't. Oh, yeah he could; sensitivity.

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Tori's face lit up in a solid grin as she laughed. She had her reasons for replying so vaguely, and she explained them after her first comment. She should've been mad at him for calling her a dumb ass, but she wasn't. That part didn't make sense to her either. "Hey now, watch your language," Tori said teasingly. She didn't mean it personally, it was just something to bug him about. Being her friend meant she would find something to tease him about, all the time. She figured he wouldn't mind.
Tori just let the silence settle in their conversation like fog for a moment. She didn't mind it being to quiet, she liked listening to the forest. The wind whipped hair across her face, and made a whoosh sound in her ears. Not bothering to fix her hair, she looked down at the creek, and the hair just went back to it's position. Tori thought about something, before it was interrupted by James' hand holding her's.
A new fire was brought into her dark eyes as she gently pulled her hand away. No, no, she didn't just hand her heart away so easily. Tori's heart was still recovering from the boy's love who hung around her neck all day. She didn't think anyone could replace that, not so soon.

| James looked down at their feet swinging, slowing down the pace of his legs to swing them in time with hers. James was glad that he had spent longer on his hair this morning; trying to get it perfect. The llarge amount of hair-spray that had been sprayed onto it was now a good thing as it meant that the wind wouldn't mess it up.
James looked down at his hand as Tori pulled hers away, having completely forgotten about it. Wiping his palms on his chinos, he mummbled; "Sorry." Feeling quite awkward also. He hadn't meant to be...suggestive or anything, seeing as they had only juet met. Having said that, James was usually the biggest player in the world.
Feeling the need to break the silence, James cleared his throat whilst trying to decide on something to talk about. He thought it best to continue their earlier one. "Thats not even bad language! Its a fact." He smirked, trying to ease the tension.

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Tori felt as though, this time, she brought an unessicary silence onto them. She hoped he didn't mind, in all honesty, she didn't. Tori could tell he was a player, she guessed that since she first laid eyes on him. The fact that he used way more hair products than she did sent off a flare. Considering Tori didn't spend much time on appearance, there was hardly a comparison to be made. Hearing James clear his throat, she looked up at him, expecting him to say something.
Tori rolled her eyes, smiling and laughing a little bit. "The sad part is, I bet you would know." she said, still smiling. "Plese tell meyou didn't have to look that up."Tori said, teasing.
She wasn't the type to swear, but then again, James was an Ares kid. He was probably exposed to some very colorful words every now and then. The wind whisted again, sending her necklace a drift for a while, just floating in the breeze, then coming back down on her sweatshirt.

| James rolled his eyes at Tori, not even bothering to answer her last comment. He tried to tone down his level of swearing but it was hard; seeing as he had extreme ADHD and was the son of the God of war which meant that him and his siblings had to put on the baddass act as they sauntered around camp.
Thats why he tried to never let anyone see this side of him; it woupd ruin his reputation. His reputation of being a intimidating, cocky heart-breaker that didn't look twice at nerds and outcasts. He actually despised himself for this. For pretending to be something he wasn't.
Looking up at the high tree, he stood up on the trunk as he tried to mantain balance. "Ever tried to get higher up in this thing?" James asked, grinning down at Tori and wondering how high he could climb. Without thinking about it, James pulled himself higher up, continuing to climb higher until he was quite a distance up ftom the ground. The fall would definatly do some damage to him. "You coming up?" James called, wondering if Tori had the guts.

Tori almost didn't hear what James had said. Something about higher? She didn't notice him moving until she saw his feet in her face. Then she looked up and smiled, seeing the challenge. "Psh, yeah." Tori said with a smile. She got up and balanced on the branch for a moment, grabbing the one above her head. She climbed up two more branches, meeting the height of James.
Tori blew her hair out of her face, and smiled. "You're not stopping now are you?" she asked, challenging him, just like he had done to her. Not waiting for a reply, she kept going higher. Tori was soon a few branches from the topic, and decided it best not to go on. She sat on the highest branch, looking at the view she has received for the trip up to the top. Tori considered it worth it.

| With a chukle, James watched as Tori continued to climb higher, following her after a second. He sat next to her, looking out at the forest and seeing the swirl of smoke from the Hephaestus cabin. James stratched his chin, smirking at Tori.
"I didn't think you would have done it. Congrats." James joked, swinging his legs back and forth beneath him like they had further down in the tree. James kept one hand clasoed around the branch to keep him up wheras his other hand drummed his fingers against his thigh.
Looking beneath him, he finally understood how high they had climbed. Falling would certainly result in death. A painful death. If they lost their footing, they didn't stand a chance. These thoughts made James' hand tighten as he looked over again at Tori with a raised eyebrow. "You know, maybe we climbed a little too high." He told her calmly.

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Daughter of Aletheia Tori was caught up in the view for a moment. She could see the beach, and lake. It had some open water in the center, but the rest was frozen with snow over it. Tori blinked, and when she did, she heard James talking again."Yeah, it was nothing." she said with a smirk. Tori put one hand on the branch, and the other on her opposite side of the branch, almost touching James' hand.
She didn't notice though. Tori instead kept focusing on the view. She saw the arena, and several campers in there, training. It was easy to see, considering that there were no leaves to block seeing the landscape.Tori heard him talk again, this time about climbing to high. She almost laughed, and then looked down. "Oh... I guess we did." Tori admitted. She almost lost her balance because of leaning downward., but quickly regained it. She shook her head and sighed. "I'm going to head down." Tori said, not wanting to fall down and loose her life.
She let her leg dangle lower than the other, touching the next lowest branch. Grabbing another limb, she lowered herself down to the ground. Tori looked up at James, wondering if he was coming down at well.

| James noticed how close their hands were but blinked, forcing himself not to use any of the cocky, arrogant pick-up lines on her that he knew as he doubted she woupd like it. He wouldn't like it either. He liked Tori, yeah but he was trying to stop with the flirting and only flirt if he really liked someone.
Then, James almost had heart failure whrn she almost fell. He grabbed her arm, letting go when she got her balance back but his habd hovering protectivly all the same. He didn't want her to slip. Hell no.
Watching her make her way down to the ground, James was less...gently than her. He suddenley dropped onto the branch below, it nearly snapping. Climbing down a few more heavily, the last one snapped under his weight. James fell, landing on his back with a laugh before getting up and dusting himself off. "Well, that failed." He commented, grinning down at Tori and glad that he hadn't been too high up when he fell.

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Daughter of Aletheia Tori rubbed her opposite arm while James made his way down. She was right, they were pretty far up that tree. Looking at the ground, Tori thought to herself,"Hm, good things none of us got hurt....". Then she heard a crack. Her head snapped up, as she saw James pretty much fall down the tree. "Oh my Gods!" Tori said, rushing over to him.
He was laughing, of course. "Way to fall." she said, with a smile playing on her lips. If he wasn't taking the fall to seriously, he must've been fine. Then again, he was an Ares kid, whom shouldn't usually show pain. Crossing her arms, she spoke again, "So, I take it you're fine?" Tori had expected that since he was laughing, she had nothing to worry about.

| James dusted himself off, still chuckling slightly. He slicked a stray strand of his brown hair bsck from his face, his gel finally starting to fail him. Great. Thats what camp half-blood did to you.
"I'm alright, thanks." James told her, stretching the muscles in his back which were aching a little. Not he was going to show any pain. No weaknesses. He forced himself not to show pain, like many other Ares kids and even other campers. He didn't like sympathy much.
"Thanks for your concern, though." James smiled, dimples forming at his cheeks as he lightly patted Tori on the back, glad that someone was there for him at least. Even if at least for now. Same Dx sorry for not posting sooner

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Daughter of Aletheia Tori rolled her eyes, seeing James push his hair back. Heaven forbid that it might come undone. We wouldn't want that, apparently. "Are you sure you're alright?" Tori asked, a smile playing on her lips. "I mean, you're hair isn't staying together! Should we panic?" She asked, letting out a laugh.
When he patted her on the back, she did admit it felt weird. Like he was a brother, weird. Brushing off her shoulder she nodded. "Of course, I'm a very caring person." Tori said, a little sarcasm in her voice. She wasn't usually the person to show lots of sympathy, or feelings towards anyone. It just wasn't like her. No, no, no, not like her at all.

| James laughed at Tori's comment about his hair, rolling his eyes slightly. "Yes, we should most defienatly panic." James nodded, attempting suppress a smile and failing. "I suppose it's what I deserve for showimg off and climbing trees." James shrugged, shoving his hands inside the pockets of his baseball jersey.
He continued to watch Tori for another few minites, only looking away when he realised that he was staring. He cleared his throat, trying to hide the blush that was forming on his cheeks.
"So, uh, what do you want to do now?" James asked her, raising an eyebrow as he looked back at her again, the blush working it's way off his cheeks once more. He bet she was a caring person, deep down. Maybe she just...didn't show it much. Or wasn't fully aware of it.

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Daughter of Aletheia Tori smiled, laughing a little. She didn't mean to sound, well mean. She couldn't really tell if he was hurt or not, but she decided not to stress that topic anymore. She looked at the ground, with her hair blowing across her face, making a slight mess of it. Tori felt someone's eyes on her, and she quickly met his bright blue eyes.
She almost gasped, and she broke the stare, by looking away, and shoving her hands in her pockets. Tori slid her hair back, so she could see. "Er, it doesn't really matter to me." she said quickly. In all honesty, she didn't care. It wasn't like she had much to do anyways.
Tori looked up at his eyes again, and bit her lip. "Uh, what do you want to do?" she asked. She didn't know exactly what she wanted to do, but she did like spending time with James. It was the most fun she had since she felt camp in the first place.

| James thought for a moment, considering what they would be able to do before sighing, looking around briefly as the wind continued to mess up his hair; much to his annoyence. James played with his ear-lobe absent-mindedly, considering their options.
"I don't really mind what we do, either. If you want, we could just....get out of camp?" He suggested, finding camp sometimes to be a bit boring. It was weird how being with a person made everything different.
"Or we could stay here. Whatever you want." He added quickly, not really sure what she would say. He made eye contact with her again briefly before blushing and looking down again, his cocky side dissappeared.

| * VICTORIA ELIZABETH DALY * Daughter of Aletheia Tori watched as he played with his ear. Most people didn't play with their ears, if anything. Hm. Then again, Tori already figured out that James wasn't everyone. He even said that himself a while ago. Hearing his suggestion, her face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Yes!" Tori said immediately. Feeling like she spoke to soon, a small blush creeped onto her face.
"Why didn't I think of that?" she asked herself. Then she thought she spoke to soon. Oops. "Er, I mean, yeah, sounds fun." Tori said with a grin. She hadn't even been in camp for long, now she was going back out. Tori didn't know if it sounded like a good idea, but she would go along with it. She was trying to convince herself that nothing would go wrong, besides, she would have James with her.

| James laughed at Tori's enthusism, feeling a bit like that himself. He was just to be leaving camp behind. Honestly, camp held some annoying thoughts of him. Actually, he hoped that Tori wouldn't ask around about him or she may be suprised about what was said; that he was an arrogant, vain player. Yeah, he pretended to be but really, he was sensitve and sweet. This side of his was what Tori was getting a glimpse of now, one of the rare few.
He blew stray strands of his brown hair off his face, annoyed that his hair had messed up already. Granted, James was slightly vain when it came to his hair bit, who wouldn't be? It was awesome.
"How about I go back to my cabin and fix my hair, and meet to just outside camp in...about twenty minutes?" He suggested with a shrug. Sure thang. xD
