Kate's First Day (OPEN)

Taylor was mentally cursing herself. Why did she let that slip? She sighed heavily, rubbing the back of her head. "Well, I'm not really the right kind of person who can provide you with that kind of information," Taylor admitted. "See, I don't really know a lot about it. Just bits and pieces."

Taylor chuckled as Kate threw her a suspicious look. "It was kinda announced," Taylor admitted. "sometime ago. I was only half-listening. I'm not too good with listening to speeches and stuff." Blame her ADHD for that. Taylor was probably playing with the food in the mess hall while Chiron was making the announcement.

"Yeah, probably," Taylor said with a nod. And besides, with some demigods changing sides within the past few months, it was bound to be noticed. "Well, the least we could do is keep our eyes open," Taylor said, smiling.

Taylor studied Kate. It definitely seemed like she could read minds. She wondered if there was something else besides Khione in her blood. "Well... yes, actually," Taylor admitted, wondering if it was good to disclose this information to new campers. "But hey, some people on the other side go over to ours too," she added in an effort to lighten the situation. While it was true, Taylor knew that it was a rare occurrence.

Taylor could already see how Kate was kinda a fast learner. Or maybe Taylor was just too readable. "Because some demigods are brainwashed to think the other side is so much cooler," Taylor said, half-joking. "The other side is just too good with words. They spin out lies and make you believe it's the truth," she continued with a sigh, twirling a finger as she spoke.

Taylor was more than relieved at the change of subject. "Well yeah," Taylor said, grinning. We've had more before, but due to some circumstances... she added in her thoughts. "Not just demigods too. There are satyrs and nymphs around. Most satyrs often bring a new demigod in, and nymphs... well they live in trees and look pretty?" she finished in a question. Now that she thought about it, Taylor didn't really know what nymphs did. Maybe they could manipulate the trees or something? Taylor shrugged the thought off.

Taylor seemed surprised. Well that's what she got for not paying attention during her own orientation three years ago. "Really? Wow, I learned something new today. Thanks," Taylor chuckled. "Yeah, this place is swarming with people in summer. Campers can be either stay 'round the year or summer only," Taylor said confidently. At least this time she was sure of her answer. Taylor grinned at the thought.

Taylor nodded. "Yeah, I am," Taylor said, smiling, motioning for Kate to follow her to one of the sofas. It was getting quite tiring to just stand there while having a conversation. She sat down, leaning back comfortably. "Well I'm living here full-time at the moment since my dad is having a rough life," she explained with her eyes closed. "Since it would be so much harder trying to raise a daughter while he's busy scraping up some money, Dad decided to send me here." She opened her eyes, realizing that she hadn't contacted her dad for a while now. Taylor reassured herself that her dad can handle himself just fine. "You're a year-rounder too, right?"

Taylor watched Kate curiously. Obviously her half-sister didn't have a good experience with some of her family members. From Kate's tone, Taylor assumed that she had run away or something like that. "Well, I'm glad you made it here at any rate," Taylor said, smiling. "Always nice to see a new sibling every once in a while."

"Yep," Taylor agreed. "If you arrived around two months sooner, you could've seen and helped organize the Winter Festival. It was awesome," Taylor said, grinning, as she went to a dreamy state. She heaved a contented sigh, reminiscing about the past event.

"A lot of things," Taylor said, excitement creeping in her voice. "A typical amusement park in demigod-style." Taylor looked up, tapping the sofa as she tried to remember. "Ferris wheel, roller coaster, ice skating rink... some booths too. Courtesy of the Khione kids," Taylor finished proudly.

Taylor chuckled at Kate's reaction. "You'll get your chance this December. It's going to be a blast," she reassured Kate with a smile. "Well, most of it. But we got some help from other kids, like the Hephaestus campers because they're good at building stuff," Taylor replied.

Taylor laughed. She stood up, feeling like running today. Hey, she needed her daily exercise or else she was going to get fat. "Well we have roughly nine months until we start planning for the next festival, so we have all the time to brainstorm on that." Taylor bent down to tie her shoelaces. "I'm heading for a jog. Wanna join me? Of course, I'll understand if you wanna rest for a while, seeing that you just got here," Taylor said as she looked up at Kate, smiling.
